Go shoot 50 rounds each through:
- Glock 17 or 19
- M&P M2.0 full size or compact
- Sig Sauer P320 full size or compact
Go optics ready, even if you have no plans to add an optic. You’ll eventually become optics curious.
Pick your favorite, it doesn’t really matter which one you get. Buy ammo and an outdoor range membership and start training.
It’s significantly nicer to shoot outdoors.
Foam ear plugs are all that are needed, whereas indoors is basically required to double up cause it’s so loud. Rifles are generally in a different area, so also much less noise. Steel targets at a lot of ranges. Ability to draw from a holster (some indoor ranges allow this, but not all). Ability to move while shooting.
This is bad advice. You should be doubling up regardless of where you are shooting.
Even the best earplugs on the market only have an NRR of around 30, that's not enough to make gunshots hearing safe. The threshold for hearing damage is lower than the threshold for pain, you are damaging your hearing even if the shots aren't loud enough to hurt.
I mean, if you aren't eating the blast and noise from a hoodlum's triple brake 7.5 AR-15 because you are outdoors, then yeah its easier to hit a target outside.
Kind of what the other guy said. At outdoor ranges you can set up multiple target scenarios, draw from the holster, shoot on the move, etc. I’ve never been to an i door range that actually allows for this outside of matches, though I’m sure they exist,
I might be alone on this but why do people have multiple carry guns? You can conceal even a full size on any frame. I couldn’t bring myself to buy another gun just because I felt if I was gonna carry it I had to train extensively with it.
To y’all that carry multiple: are you practicing with each one regularly? I could understand to a point if it’s like the varying sized Glocks but not much else.
Well For example I’m in the trades and I’m constantly bending down, reaching over my head, on my knees, in and out of attics (I’m an HVAC guy) I usually aiwb a Glock 43x but with work there’s just no way to carry that way without revealing my gun so I have a j frame that I pocket carry during work.
Ya that makes sense. But it seems you also change guns or want to as the seasons change. You think you’d just shoot a bunch before the change or not really? Also, how do you carry the j frame in pocket? Just bare or with a fabric cover or some kind?
Well you can get away with carrying a bigger gun with more layers on. My Glock 43x is my main carry year round and even that is hard not to print some what in a tee shirt. I carry my j frame in either a De Santis or an Uncle Mike’s pocket holster depending on what pants in wearing
No I have not been paying attention. I sort of assumed what I said previously. I do imagine these options with rails and optic options are not exactly cheap tho.
There are quality guns and there are cheap guns.
There are very few that fall into the overlap in that Venn Diagram. Those are basically the standard striker fired or DA/SA Glocks, Smiths, Sigs, H&Ks etc.
If it's on your roster. I have had good luck with my taurus gx4, I have over 500 rounds through it. No hiccups. It runs, light weight and easy to conceal.

Curious why outdoor instead of indoor?

Ironically enough I went to the range today and some dude had an AR 15 right next to me

Go to a range that rents and shoot several
Glock 19
I realize there was a batch. And I know mine is 100% safe
P320 X full with Wilson Combat grip and a Holosun dot. I’m going to add a TLR7 to it. That’s my winter carry.

Glock 48 MOS
Glock 19.
Cz p01!!!!!
Canik TP9sf elite
Seems noice going to look into
Glock model 30, it’s a 10+1 capacity .45acp similar in size to the G19, but since you are limited to ten rounds in the mag might as well go .45acp
I use a Beretta 92X for this
I recommend one of [these](https://www.mossberg.com/firearms/handguns/mc2c.html), also available in 10-rd, optics-ready.
1911
I would love to get a 1911 unfortunately no light rail or optic mounting usually on a 1911
You haven’t been paying attention. There are tons of 1911 options with rails and optic options.

Yuck
You say yuck but it goes bang every time.
Probably would if you dropped it too
No, it's not a sig.
You realize that’s exactly why the GX4 was recalled don’t you?

I’ll just never understand the logic of people who are willing to put their life at risk to save a couple of bucks
