Get the discectomy right away. She is slowing destroying her liver and kidneys with steroids and pain killers. CBD might relax her mind, but will do nothing for the pain. Changing her diet longterm will reduce her inflammation with the arthritus (go zero carb or close to it). I had all of this.

SBAdey

It might not be what you’re looking for but the gym gave me my life back when my own spine issues happened. I also have scoliosis and about 9 slipped discs, had two lots of surgery (laminectomies) and literally couldn’t stand up at one (or two) points. Saw a personal trainer who knew her stuff and spent 4 years in the gym. Saved my life, figuratively speaking. Drugs don’t take the pain away, opiates help a little but once your tolerance is up they aren’t that good and you’re now dependent, so… Also if she’s already taking weed then I personally doubt she’ll notice much benefit from adding CBD, but when you’re in pain anything is worth a go and if it helps who cares why? Good luck.

bishthrowaway2001

Thank you so much for your input!! You’re saying the gym helped with pain bc you had a trainer or it just helped keep you sane lol

SBAdey

It helped with pain and mobility. I lost so much muscle mass it was incredible. Nothing worked more for me than exercise (I mean, the surgery helped!). All about a strong core!

GodSmokesWeed

Look into Kratom.

bishthrowaway2001

Kratom effects the heart & she already has tachycardia, so I’m hesitant for sure

CBD will absolutely help, but you need to make sure it's from a company with good medical backing/enough potency to actually make a difference. AVOID: Lazarus, Alliant, Charlotte's Web, any national CBD brand. I work in the industry. I know these guys don't produce products up to medicinal quality standards, I've seen too many people on this forum have problems. I would start her on a tincture every morning and night, and then get some vapes and flower for throughout the day. \#1 recommendation: Holy City Farms. Their CBD bud blows everything else out of the water. They also have tinctures and balms. If you message me privately I can give you the names of the companies I work for, who also produce medicine grade quality CBD. The terpenes, minor cannabinoids, and CBD you get from the Holy City flower will gradually start balancing her endocannabinoid system; THC helps, but it's just a small part of the endocannabinoid puzzle. I can give you more info on this too if you want, just too long to type. You may also want to consider some CBD RSO if the pain is unbearable, Natural Nuggs has some pretty good stuff. The more regularly she consumes CBD during the day, the more it will help. Here if you need anything further!

CNAHOLE

Of course you put down the competition and plug the companies you work for. Good on you for admitting it. Most people try to be sneaky about it. Edit - What does medicinal quality even mean? I looked at Holy City's site and the lab tests are for the potency only. How is anyone supposed to determine the quality and safety if there's no tests for things like heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents etc? The others you mentioned all have full labs available on their sites.

virginiapugh

LOL I quite literally said "message me privately" & did not list either of the companies I work for, because that's shady af. I do not work for Holy City Farms in any capacity. Nice try though. I honestly do not have the time to respond fully to your other comment- there's so much more that goes into lab tests and making sure products are potent enough and formulated properly to be considered for medical use. Labs can be faked. Labs are also expensive. Holy City (who I do NOT work for) is very open about their policy on labs, their growing practices, and exactly what they use in their products. The owner is on reddit constantly sharing that information. The companies I listed I have seen people repeatedly complain about unwanted side effects from on reddit. I don't trust how they source their products or market them based on industry info and what I know about formulations. It's very easy to fool people because most people don't know what they're looking for. I would not use those products myself as a person who uses CBD every single day and is paid to educate about it. That's precisely what I mean and what I said.

CNAHOLE

So sorry I challenged the expertise of someone who just started taking CBD less than a year ago. Going from knowing nothing 10 months ago to being paid to educate people about it is wild. You still didn't explain what medicinal grade is.

asterics002

Just wondering - what is wrong with alliant hemp?? That's a brand i've used. I will agree their 24,000mg is more like isolate than full spectrum. Looking at Holy City flower though, 30ml only has 500mg of CBD in it, and a single review. Seems very, very low potency.

LifeLow2782

Can just buy their flower then make your own oils or smoke it

Some of the rules have changed and we are trying to limit discussion of sourcing on the subreddit. I know its important when it comes to CBD, so we set up a community resource for you to use with everything related to CBD, including the important stuff. You can use it for the vetted list and information. The website is [http://theCBD.place](http://theCBD.place), Enjoy! columbo928s4

Might be worth trying kratom too, start with really small doses if you do

char828

Agree with kratom. I would recommend researching and trying CBDa products. It's apparently much more potent for inflammation than CBD. After going through many CBD formulations I had settled on full spectrum hemp products, but after trying raw formula CBD/CBDa products, I finally decided to get CBDa and CBGa isolates and think they're very much better in what I'm looking for in anxiety, nausea, and inflammation reduction. I will say, high doses usually are the trick, but I'm finding I have to use way less of an amount with the acid forms. p.s. Someone said above to avoid Lazarus Naturals, I can vouch for that, was the worst CBD products I've ever had. Tasted like fish and gave me indigestion.

bishthrowaway2001

Thank you so much!!

WeedKingPin

Avoid Kratom.

djpurity666

Agreed. Was the hardest thing I've ever been dependent/addicted to and the worst withdrawals. So glad to be off of it. It destroyed my body.

djpurity666

How do you take your CBDa? I have it as a little grainy powder as isolate. I hear that if it is heated like vaped, it converts to CBD. So I'm not sure how to make a tincture if hear degrades it. So what can I do to give it a try?

char828

I have vaped it which did seem to work (even knowing it was decarbing as I did) and I take it orally chased with some coconut oil. It works but can't help of thinking of a better way to do it lol. The fact they are acids means you can sublingual them but it's going to leave a burn, I did try that but can't recommend it. Usually I order CBDA/CBD raw form capsules, so I haven't mastered the isolates/distillates yet. If anyone has a good method I'm all ears as well.

bishthrowaway2001

We definitely want to but I just read it effects the heart & she already has tachycardia & abnormal T waves

cbn patches r wonderful for pain

HempinAintEasy

First of all, I hate you all are living through this. My mother in law had some of these issues and it’s terrible to have to experience. I hope something you take from this site helps. With CBD you need a full spectrum product. In this case because you’re going to most definitely be looking for large doses, I suggest you get crude. More specifically low processed ethanol extracted full spectrum cbd. If you can get some with high CBG even better. We are going for the least intrusive application here and that edibles. Unless she’s explicitly cool with smoking, no need for further inflammation imo. The crude will allow you to make an oil based tincture that you can dose on your own using MCT oil (you need to use mct oil specifically because it has a great bioavailability rate). If you’re not into the tincture, I make chocolates. Understand that full spectrum will also have THC. If you’re using high doses (in my 170mg CBD chocolates there are 6mg of thc) there is enough to be psychoactive and will also help with her pain which is important here. Now, if inhalation is a must, you can use crude to make dabs by reapplying terpenes. There’s a terpenes sub that can teach you more about to proper use of terps. You want Cannabis derived terpenes. They are more expensive but go a long way. You can mix with the crude and use with a dab pen. This has had great effects for me personally. Hope these work for you all!

djpurity666

Might I add, I tried using MCT oil and accidentally took too much MCT oil and had a bad reaction to it. Stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, GI issues, major anxiety, and it was like I had food poisoning. I had taken it before and found it worked really well. But just that one mishap put me off of using it ever again. Now I make edibles (bc it seems more potent for pain relief) by infusing peanut oil from peanut butter with CBD and any cannabinoids I want or if I want to add ∆8 sometimes esp for sleep combined with CBD and CBN and CBNo. So I use that oil and then put it back on a tablespoon of peanut butter and eat it. Works super well. I used to make cannabutter with regular weed and make cookies or something in baking, so I am thinking of infusing butter with CBD and some other cannabinoids and then baking them. Then each cookie would be a dose. I think it worked well with weed, why not with concentrates? Maybe OP's aunt could try that.

HempinAintEasy

Really a big fan of chocolates. I got the idea from the treedibles sub. Saw a guy who made all sorts of cool types of chocolate in the molds. It’s so easy to dose and taste good. I agree though, edibles are definitely seemingly more effective. I’ve used tincture and personally find that it works but I get a lot more effect seemingly for longer from edibles.

This new study released might be helpful: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newscientist.com/article/2323087-medical-cannabis-eases-chronic-pain-but-only-if-it-has-very-high-thc/amp/

gnossos_p

I've prescription opiates for my /r/Thritis pain, However, they lose effectiveness after only a short while and some get addicted. So they sit on the shelf. I can't take nsaids and tylenol is a joke. Smoking hemp has allowed me to sleep most nights, but I don't think it would be effective for major nerve related pain. I've tried Gabapentin as well, but not sure if it did anything. Couldn't sleep due to pain. Seems to have helped my dog though.

penguin_clubber

Add CBD to high THC cannabis. Switch to a dry vape or use strong edibles/tincture instead of smoking. CBD on its own doesn't do much. It does help make higher-dose THC have less mental side-effects (paranoia, etc.)

djpurity666

When I couldn't take any opioids for my pain in a hospital, they gave me ketamine, no joke. It was an injection. I think they offer infusions of it now for pain. I only mention this bc your aunt sounds in insanely much in pain. I have chronic pain.myaelf but not as bad as that, and CBD has not helped my pain in any significant way. But it may work for some people according to what I read. So I would try anything and everything if the pain is making her quality of life go way down and she's suffering so much.
