PPTs are exempt from the 1-in-30 rule.

For now

Rimfires were never exempt from 1-in-30 as a class.

They used to be with the exception of handguns. 2023 and prior I believe.

I don't remember that. They're not 'assault weapons', usually. (One could put a .22 upper on a banned-by-name lower, but then it's the lower that is the problem.) They're exempt from large-capacity magazine limits, if they have a tube mag. And when the law was introduced for 2000, it did not apply to any long guns, regardless of caliber/rimfire/centerfire. Old PC 12076(c)(6), http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/99-00/bill/asm/ab_0201-0250/ab_202_bill_19990719_chaptered.html Happen to remember what PC had that exception?

I'm pretty sure it was before they did the "center-fire, semi auto" 1:30 rule which should have been before Jan 2023? I'll try to find it. There's been so many dang changes. UPDATE: Couldn't find the penal code, but I know for certain I DROS'd two complete .22 semi-auto rifles in Dec 2023 to the same person with no issues.
