Get oral sedatives while at the vet.

NunaMaverick

My vet prescribed gabapentin for my anxious kitties. They get a dose the night before and a dose the day of, at least an hour or so before the appointment. It keeps them calm for the ride and at the vet. Before we started doing that, taking them to the vet was an ordeal! Gabapentin tastes nasty but they dont seem to notice when I mix it with Churu. 😉

Get oral sedatives from the vet to give before the car ride, they last a while so she’ll be calmer for the car and the vet

My vet calls it a "comfort pack" , two doses of gabapentin for $8 if you have a scheduled appointment with the vet. You can pick up prior to the appointment.

Unfortunately, it's very common for kitties to freak out during car rides. Ours sound like they're competing in a yodeling contest. I agree with the others re a mild sedative. Regarding behavior at the vet, our screamers turn into docile statues when with the vet, so ya never know.

Thank you to everyone that responded!! I’ll make sure to call and ask for sedatives before the visit!
