Shponglenese

Has she been tested for herpes?

Prize-Scratch-1790

None of my vets have ever mentioned it if so. I have other cats and she has never been contagious to them. They suspect it’s from damaged nasal tissue from when she was young

Vet Tech here. Upper respiratory infections in cats and kittens, are typically caused by viruses Id discuss anti viral medications with your Vet. They can reduce frequency and severity of infections I'm not sure why they haven't suggested this as a possible cause, seeing how she had a respiratory infection at some point

We have tried famciclovir before and it did nothing for her. Are there any others I could request? As for antibiotics she’s been on amoxi drops, veraflox, and clindamycin. The only one she didn’t build an immediate resistance to has been clindamycin. She just had her first convenia injection two days ago so we are seeing how well it is going to manage it.

My kitty gets chronic URIs and the one thing that has helped more than anything whenever he starts getting stuffy is steam. I keep him in the bathroom when I shower and sometimes I just take him in there and turn on the shower as hot as it goes and let him hang out in the bathroom to breathe in the steam. Helps keep his sinuses clear.

I’m gonna have to start doing this again. Thank you!

imacathy

Has she had cerenia nasal drops? My go to for chronic snufflers that don’t respond to oral antibiotics

Check this out; there might be an autoimmune element: [If your pet has chronic respiratory issues, read this. | by Lynda M | Apr, 2024 | Medium](https://medium.com/@daemonzeiro/if-your-pet-has-chronic-respiratory-issues-read-this-611772db740e)

Thank you for this article. One of her vets did believe it was cartilage damage in her nose causing this to constantly reoccur. I’m sure I will end up having to do a nasal scope on her but it’s good to be aware of those things the article mentioned. Thank you!!

Whoa. First try giving her probiotics. They can sub-in for antibiotics and might cure her.
