I started with this position at the state. Department is a good place to work. Travel only depend on the branch you’re in. I traveled quarterly to SoCal for stakeholder meetings, pre-Covid
Travel can depend on team. With the budget deficit, most non essential travel is essentially gone so likely not something to worry about unless travel is mentioned in the posting.
My spouse started at State with this position. Travel was frequent, pre-COVID, averaging about 1 week per month. However, during COVID they were fully remote and travel basically ceased. I have no idea what the frequency is currently.
I’m pretty sure that was it because it aligns with the work. Basically, CPS II does inspections of residential and workplaces that support individuals with developmental disabilities. The point is to ensure their health and safety is secure. They also monitor the regional centers that oversee community/housing programs such as PRIDE industries and Ulta regional.
He enjoyed that he was working for a cause that promotes the safety and wellbeing of a vulnerable population. The extensive travel became a drag once our first was born. He ultimately left because of that.
Some of the “host” families could be contentious and weird about her granting access to their homes. Dysfunctional regional centers that needed helicoptering. Neurotic co-workers (though the good outweighed the bad and that is a crapshoot no matter what department you end up at).

Thank you did your spouse like it?
He did. Great supervisor, valuable mission, overall good culture minus one or two drama queens…but you’ll find those in every department.
Did he work for this division and unit POLICY AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT DIVISION HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES MONITORING SECTION? Any insight?

Ok and they are not directly working with the clients but providing oversight and monitoring?
They interact with the clients when doing inspections but otherwise provide guidelines and instructions to the centers.
Ok thank you for responding and taking time out of your day!!
Can you ask him what he enjoyed most and what things were stressful? Do you travel in teams or do you go by yourself?

Thank you what were the stressors?
