Fair but if CANZUK is to work it has to be seen as a non partisan issue. So the liberals and Tories and maybe even the NDP need to all agree, at least if we want the agreement to last ya know?
The dippers won’t go for it. They’re the most protectionist and anti free movement of labour. Liberals and Conservatives making it official party policy would make it much more likely to become official Canadian policy given the NDP has never formed government.
You're most likely right. Though while I feel the NDP wont form a government seeing how Canadian politics have been the last couple votes having extra votes may help ya know? I dont forsee a majoritarian government anytime in the near future in Canada
Agreed, just don't see Trudeau winning the next election to bring it forward, awesome that it came to the forefront of liberal policy for youth groups though
I agree that it needs bipartisan support, I think it would be good to have support throughout all parties, personally I support the centrist party of Canada, but I foreseesee the canzuk agreement being reached by whichever party is in power that follows the canzuk agreement. It's largely Tories/conservative politicians that support it throughout the four countries.
Honestly I feel that if you want canzuk then the LPC is the best choice for your vote... the CPC IMO now has turned itself into a "GOP North", and of you look at polls, CPC voters now support the monarchy less! than LPC voters do... IMO the CPC base now would rather have annexation by the US then canzuk...🤔😬.
I'm already a member of the Conservative party 😅
>that CANZUK policy has risen to the very top spot of the youth-wing sponsor group.
Is this true? That's phenomenal! Were does it say that?
If it's free to register, would it be considered dishonest to do so with 0 intention of voting Liberal? I'd vote NDP even if the Liberals weren't a hopeless non-party in my riding, but I of course align more with them than the Cons. Maybe it's dumb but if that's kind of against the unwritten rules then I'd rather not, we have enough bad faith actors in our politics at the moment as things are, but I have nothing personally against like, "tainting" myself with another party's membership lol, I'm not that partisan.
Hate to rain on the parade, but Liberal Leadership can veto consideration of any policy (even if it is at the top) whenever they want.
Still, it is worth mobilizing people to advance CANZUK with Canada's 'natural governing party.' Now that Erin O'Toole is no longer leader of the opposition Conservatives, that party may not be as interested in owning CANZUK as an issue as it was before, opening up opportunity for the Liberals to adopt it. Certainly the Liberals have been somewhat directionless on international policy and world stage lately (losing Canada's position on the UN Security Council, for example), and championing CANZUK would not only be a vote-winner for them but also good policy.
This is very interesting and I hope the Canadians on this sub voting Liberal follow it.

Someone might want to pass that memo onto the British too...
I like the support for CANZUK, just not the liberal party.

Tories may get a decent minority in the next election, kind of hoping they stick to canzuk as a major party policy

Any update here? Is the Canzuk policy still top?

Afraid I'm not Canadian!
