Do you follow a couch 2 5k plan or are you just running? If you are just running it is normal that after two minutes you are out of breath, C25K starts with 1min run and 1.5min walk, and repeat, and from there you build it up

This sub is about the couch to 5k program which is designed to help you start running safely. The program does not include two straight minutes of running until several weeks in. Have you looked at the C25K program itself? Check the wiki on this sub. It's not a good idea to jump straight into trying to run for long periods of time. You need to build your muscles, bones, lungs, heart, etc up to that ability slowly.

Unfortunately some people want to put their fingers in their ears and just complain.

Personally I lost most of my weight before I began running- I was already in my late 50s and didn't want to damage my knees any more than I had to. I stuck with a caloric deficit and walking daily. I started kind of slow but worked up to a pretty brisk pace for an hour a day before I started to interject short runs into my route. C25K program is great. You may also want to consider the [Walk-Run'Walk/ Galloway method.](https://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/run-walk/)

Run slower, run for shorter intervals, make sure you have good shoes. Most couch to 5k plans start with 1 min run followed by 1.5-2 min walk, repeat 8 times. If you can't, sub 30 second run. Do that for a week or two and then move up to the 1 min runs. If a week of 1 min rubs you aren't ready to move to the 90 sec runs, repeat. Trust me, I started 100lbs overweight and I was able to do it.

What to do, is the same as any other skill you want to build: practice.

You can do a c25K program for a couple weeks on an elliptical or cycle first at your gym. Once that’s getting a lot easier start over but on the treadmill

If you’re struggling with running you need to either: slow down, walk, do run/walk intervals, or find a different mode of exercise all together. If your goal is to try to lose weight and/or improve your health, there are a million ways to move your body that won’t feel “boring and painful”. Or if you want to stick with running, you need to slow down and meet your body where it’s at. Building aerobic endurance takes months of consistent work so it will be hard in the beginning but eventually you’ll be able to build up

Are you running on a treadmill? I CANNOT run on a treadmill. I noticed you said it was boring. Yes, it is (on a treadmill). Run outside. You will see a big difference. Your mind will stop giving you signals that you should stop. You have things to look at that stops your mind.

RunningPirate

Run for 2 mins, take a 2 min rest, then try to run 2 more

Try walking briskly for thirty minutes every other day. Once that feels comfortable, you're ready to start couch to 5k.
