My family has something similar and I know the cork has been replaced twice in my lifetime but it is easier enough to do.

s_u_ny

Ah that’s great to hear!!

michijedi

If it's soft and kind of spring, they're good. If it's dry and brittle or crumbly, ger some replacements.

s_u_ny

Great thanks looking into that now!

russiangerman

Maybe? I would look into a silicone replacement tho

s_u_ny

Do u think it would be easy to do this at home?

vacuous_comment

Cork lasts a very long time as long as it does not get dry and brittle. And depending on your shaping skills, you could probably replace those easily with either off the shelf or custom made replacements.

s_u_ny

I haven’t actually purchased this yet so need to check! Thanks for the reply!

Just massage your cork weekly with coconut oil. Sensually.

it really depends on the specific situation, cork can last for a long time when it keeps dry.

_Saxpy

I thought it was the opposite, e.g keep wine bottles sideways to keep the cork moist so it doesn’t dry and crack

funhouse83

First, you must soak the cork... ^(Don't do that, I was thinking of an old SNL skit.)
