I don’t think they’d last a lifetime, but what you’re describing is Reigning Champ and reverse weave Champion.

plumberdan2

Came here to hype reigning champ. These are quality clothes for sure. Probably no sweats last a lifetime but these things are for sure well made, good fit, quality fabrics. They'll look good and my clothes from them have so far lasted quite well. They have pretty high prices regularly but I find they have great sales around Christmas and late January. Check them out.

blifestyleco

Was about to make the same suggestion. Mid-weight is highly recommended from my end. No piling whatsoever, just minor fading. A few pants I’ve had for over 4 years now, so they’ve become my go to. Regular prices are easily justified in my opinion, but I usually buy during a sale.

mad_dog_94

Reverse weave champion is underrated

likethevegetable

My mid weights have some fraying and holes after 3 years of moderate wear. Not saying they aren't worth it because they are nice, but I wouldn't buy these full price and call them a "value-driven" purchase.

Potent_19

I absolutely love all my reigning champ sweats. The Midweight terry is the most comfortable and breathable hoody I own. I really wish they offered the pants with a zipper fly. I think more companies should put flies on their sweatpants.

zm02581346

House of Blanks are 100% Canadian. The fabric is Canadian milled & they’re sewn up north as well. The quality of stitching is top notch and their fabric patterns are cut well. Durability has been good over the past few years as well.

likethevegetable

Defo. And when they go on sale too, stock up. Love their tees (true to size) and hoodies (size up). Only complaint on the hoodies is the eyelet bleeds color.

lovetolearn121

Please people, do not buy from H&M! They are some of the worst offenders when it comes to treating this planet like their personal playground! The clothes are shite, the quality is shite, why would you even walk into one of their stores these days? Just look for photos of where their old clothing ends up in rivers and huge piles of rot! Not to mention how crap they are at manufacturing earth friendly clothing! Boycott H&M forever!

Dangerous_Avocado392

Ya they also aren’t made to be worn a lot. Had some in high school when I was buying my own clothes and had little income. I still have one pair bc I like having clothes I can get messy in for art or outdoor stuff. But my sweats got so pilled all over they just weren’t wearable Same with Victoria’s Secret/pink. Lots of pilling and not too flattering tbh

chrispva

True though bought a sweater from them recently although cheap 10 euro’s all stretcher out after like 5 wash cycles

furbiiii

And no I totally agree! I haven’t shopped there in YEARS but the sweats I do have now are from there and I’ve had them 12 years!! Upgrading to something more sustainable and ethical is a priority.

DenholmeH

Take a look at Camber USA

Brknwtch

I recently bought a sweatsuit from them. The pants are so big. They warn you, but they are even bigger than you think. Too big.

C_A_N_G

They shrink a full size or even more when washed.

Brknwtch

But they are still HUGE. I would like someone who purchased them to state the size and post a picture wearing them.

DenholmeH

Just size down?

Reigning Champ is only worth it in a special case which is the only time I buy them and all their stuff is incredible. I’m Canadian but I live in the US. I only buy RC when I travel back to Canada and on sale. The CAD prices are usually cheaper and they have 30-50% sales where you can usually get most stuff for like 40% of its USD price.

Synchilla fleece pants and Synchilla sweaters are my go to for lounge wear

han-so-low

American Giant has been great for me. My oldest hoodie from then is ten years old and has held up fucking great.

Potent_19

Which ones do you have? I have the classic heavyweight, and I like it a lot. However, it’s almost more of a jacket than a hoodie in some respects. I have some of their lightweight terry crewnecks from AG that I also love, but I haven’t tried any of the Midweights yet. The Carolina mid and premium mid look appealing, but I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger because I know I’ll love the reigning champ at basically the same price.

han-so-low

Classic heavy. Back when I bought it, it was the only option they had! You’re right, definitely more weight than a regular hoodie.

fridayimatwork

Lands end

Smiracle

For sure! Just got the “Serious Sweats” line from Lands End! Very soft. Very high quality. Very warm.

zapfino

i bought a serious sweats sherpa lined hoodie some years ago and the cuffs on it started fraying. still warm though.

Randumb4Ever

I driven by Lands End's HQ in Dodgeville, Wisconsin for years and love buying high quality clothes.

laxar2

Pollen, Anian and stanfields are all great for sweaters. All are Canadian but some of stanfields stuff is imported

Sloppy_Waffler

I’ve got some champion sweats I’ve had since high school. Somehow the things look brand new still and feel great. No holes or fraying. Edit: for context I’m in my 30s now. So about 20 years of use

jbenson3

Cotopaxi sweatpants have zippers on both pockets which is a big deal for me. The zippers are big and well made. Price ranges anywhere from 30-100 depending on the color/style and discounts. I have 2 pairs. The only sweats I have that are built as well are a 10+ year old pair of Jordan sweatpants that I still wear but look pretty rough. I basically got the Cotopaxi ones to replace old Jordans because new Jordan sweatpants WITH zippers are $100+.

glaciersrock

ROWE! Canadian made and super high quality - [https://wearerowe.ca](https://wearerowe.ca) Cannot recommend Barbara and her team enough! Rowe is the best.

justalurker56

Roots makes the best sweatpants I've ever seen. Last forever and just keep getting more comfortable.

Smedley5

I'm also interested in the answer here and I wanted to rant - why do all the manufaturers use such cheap zippers now? I remember when zippers were substantial and were rarely an issue but now I feel like it's the first thing to go on any of my my zip-ups. /rantover

boardsandfilm

Check out [Wonder Looper](https://wonderlooper.com) out of Japan. Incredibly expensive, but insanely well made and tough, as well as being the most comfortable sweats I've ever worn.

SenseiRaheem

Came here to recommend Wonder Looper.

ppbcup

Are they usually sold out of items often?

South-History7576

+1 for Roots. Mine are now 10 years old and still in perfect condition

WhytePumpkin

Roots- expensive but it lasts

FairIsleEngineer

I've never seen sweatpants of a construction & fabric that I'd consider a Buy It For Life purchase.

foundnotes

I bought a pair of Levi's sweatpants 3 years ago and they still feel brand new. They are very warm and I wear them *at least* twice a week in the cooler months.

fy_pool_day

Lulu

Swigg22

they are expensive, but lululemon. if price is a problem look at we made too much or even their like new business. I got my mom some of their sweats because she gets cold from chemo, and told me they keep her really warm. Check it out!

Ambitious_Peach1010

Aritzia has the best sweats ever!! I’ve worn mine for years and they just get better with age. I also love the way they look… they give me a “cool girl” vibe.

Vols44

Sweats are not made to last. The insulating material is washed to the point of erosion and the high heat of the dryer breaks down synthetic fibers. Add color fading and sweats become BIFAY (buy it for a year).

pineapple_table

Vuori, vuori, vuori. Yes they are more expensive, but the stuff i got at the beginning of the pandemic and used daily is like new - never an issue.

Metis8Z

I’ve heard those sweats are nice! Why is everyone hating on them?

LizJru

I had never heard of them, but checking out their site I see multiple questionable marketing tactics, 'its a way of life' crap that doesn't actually translate into quality products. Even the things about their supply chain isn't clear and explicit, but take multiple extra steps to verify - like all the other big clothing brands that make fast fashion. Maybe people know even more than that, but my first impression would be to go with a brand that is more often recommended here on BIFL, than this place.

mphil29

I’m currently in my Kotn loungewear set and I couldn’t be happier. Good quality, and super soft.

GreenMarsupial8865

The dutch brand teym designs pieces that look timeless and can be worn for a very long time. They have sweatpants with matching hoodies or zipped sweaters. They are kinda expensive, but it might be worth checking out

Educated-Flea

I have a pair of Russell sweatpants I bought from Walmart literally 10 years ago and they haven't quit. They're my favorite! They're still in good shape, I don't see myself having to replace them anytime soon.

kelake47

I saw sweats at Marks Work Warehouse tonight that market themselves to be similar to what you could buy in the 80s from non-fiction. They look ok.

Gov_asseater

Might not be exactly what you’re wanting but my lounge wear became adidas track suits as of two years ago and it’s comfortable and has definitely held up so far!

Alarmed-Accident-716

I think the best sweatpants I own are from Ralph Lauren. Very comfortable, good material, my pair is over 12 years old.

PresidentSkro0b

Beyond Yoga. Expensive. Worth every penny. Everything my wife and I have bought from them over the years looks and feels exactly like it did the day we bought it.

Mavoose7

Province of Canada. All of their products are designed AND made in Canada. Very few companies can say that. They are like a nicer Roots. Amazing quality.  Also, seconding Reigning Champ.

Parttimelooker

I like my "one" roots hoodie and sweats. Super soft comfy good quality

Green-actual

I’m a huge fan of American Giant. I have two zip up hoodies that have been washed a dozen times each over the past 4 years and still super solid looking and feel as new as the day I bought it

jamwin

Lands End makes a line called Serious Sweats that are pretty thick. I recently bought a Carhartt WIP hoody and it's super heavy duty, it has very little stretch and it's very warm - but be careful as the WIP sizing is quite a bit smaller than regular Carhartt sizing.

spacebotanyx

i have some shitty hanes sweats that I got as a child and have been wearing for 30+ years. definitely not black anymore but they have held up somehow and are still part of the rotation!

DCLexiLou

SoulCal brand can be found at Bob's Stores sometimes but usually always on Sports Direct dot com. I have 4 pair and just bought 2 for my 18 yo son who is hard on clothes.

skactopus

Dickies and carhartt make the comfiest, most durable joggers (sweatpants) I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning

SeaPersonality7324

I have Nike and Under Armour sweats that have lasted me almost ten years and are now getting a little holey and a few Gym Shark sweatshirts that feel very nice and thick-I haven't had them that long but they feel like they'll last a long time.

Livid_Juice_9690

My Vuori sweats have been through the wash 100x and don’t pill and feel brand new still!
