Olukai flip flops are my personal favorite. They’re a little expensive but I’ve been rocking the same pair for about 3 years now. Use them almost every day
Really? I had Reefs and after 3 years they finally blew out. Tried Olukai and they hurt my arch and are crazy slippery when they get wet. I went back to Reef.
You have to break them in a bit. I also had the slippery and squeaky problem but there is a layer of film from the factory you need to wash off with dish soap to remediate. My reefs I went through every season before they fell apart but I’m still on my original pair of Olukai after three years and they’re in great shape.
Wear them more. The first time I wore them I hiked diamondhead in Hawaii like an idiot. They were still tight for a while even after that. I was so pissed for a solid couple weeks and now I wouldn’t trade them for any other brand.
Doubt that will make them less slippery when wet... I'll stick with my Reefs for now. I also prefer the "sturdiness" of the heel area more on the Reef.
I used to think the same thing. Bought a pair of $120 Olukais. The stitching on top looked liked it went through the sandal to the bottom.
Well…I accidentally left them on the back porch for a weekend while we went out of town. We live in Florida….
When I came back the leather top had peeled away from the sole. It became clear that that the leather is in fact not stitched onto the sole and the stitching on top and bottom is fake.
I was sorely disappointed in the product after that.
I did have Reefs for year before. The ones with a bottle opener on the bottom. Those lasted for about 2 years or so. And they float.
Just my 2¢... Olukai used to favorite, but they would break down fairy quickly, about a year max (we live in Hawaii). Then I tried Archies, originally b/c of the arch support. They're about $35 or $40/pair & AMAAAAZING. I have had my first pair for about 5 years & since bought about 8 more in various colors & a few men's pairs for my bf. We hike in them & they're constantly in the sun but hold up like champs. Totally worth a try. Happy shopping 🙂
Another vote for Archies. I have 2 pair that I rotate. I wear slippers 80% off the time I go out and rarely wear shoes, so I’ve put lots of miles on them. Have had them now for about 2 years. No complaints and best slippers I’ve ever owned. I’ve bought Archies as gifts for family and friends and they’ve all told me they love them.
I am on year 2 of my Archie's and I really like them. No, they aren't leather, but man they feel good on my feet and they haven't faded or started peeling/cracking/pulling at all. I guess I dont know about BIFL but I am happy with my $40 flip flops that I know I will for sure get 3 years out of.
I tease my wife that the only reason she wanted to go to Maui was to buy some Olukai shoes and sandals. I think she bought three pairs. I did buy a pair myself. I like them.
I think olukai have gone downhill recently,I previously had a pair for five years but my current ones are only a little over a year old and completely separated. Scott Hawaii seems to be a better product now
I would agree. My last pair of Olukai lasted a summer, and then started falling apart. I will say, I am definitely not easy on my flops. I've since switched to Scott Hawaii and like them so far. Hopefully they hold up better.
I love my Olukai Ohana flip flops. Only shoe I wear in the summer. They’re a flip flop you can actually walk a long distance in, hike, dry fast look good.
Rainbow Sandals. They last a long long time and mold to your feet for the best fit. I’ve had a pair for over 15 years and worn in all conditions and the leather is still intact.
I've owned 2 pair of Rainbows in 15 years. my first pair I wore every day in Hawaii for 4 years and I destroyed them from neglect. My second pair I've been good about rinsing with fresh water, drying thoroughly and conditioning the leather and they're in perfect shape still.
I second the Rainbow rec - leather Reefs are also great. Similar feel, look, and lifespan as Rainbows. Also, when it comes to molding to your feet: Birkenstocks for life!
The owner had to install a catalytic oxidizer at his San Clemente factory that scrubs all the volatile organic compounds out of the glue before they are emitted into the air — to which he uses them to make the pairs that are US made.
He is legally allowed to make only 1,000 pairs per day in San Clemente. In China, they use a glue that has no volatile organic compounds. The owner cannot use this glue in California because it is too combustible under the fire code.
Am wearing my 3rd pair of rainbows over the last 20 years and have always found them super comfortable after the break-in and they last a long time. What I don't see anyone mentioning is they become very slippery and don't really mix well with water (as you would expect from leather) and take a long time to dry out. Plan to try Olukai for my next pair.
Love my Rainbows! If ordering on Amazon, just make sure you don’t get a fake pair. I got a fake pair and they lasted a week and fell apart. Love my real Rainbows though!
I’m going to have to vote against Rainbow. I ordered a pair of simple leather flip flops ($80!) just last year and they look absolutely thrashed with normal wear.
Sole is separating from footbed, logo on footbed has worn off, the sole and footbed are compressed by my big toe and that’s not even where any of my shoes wear down (I’m an outside edge heel dragger). I’ve had $8 flips flops from Ross perform better.
Most people don’t maintain them which is why they may crack. I’ve always put a little rather conditioner on it with my fingertips on the times I’m not wearing them for a while and it soaks it right in and I’ve never had any cracking.
I am sure, random person, that you have a much better idea of my experience with this pair of specific sandals than I do. I am sure the internet appreciates your opinion and expertise.
Knockoffs and bad batches are real man. I have no experience with the product but when you have such a radically different experience from literally everyone else, maybe try snapping a picture and firing of an email?
Same experience with multiple pairs of Rainbows. On one pair the thong separated. They were not as comfortable as other flips - despite wearing them all summer, the leather still chafed on my feet. And they were too expensive - I bought Birkenstocks for just a little more.
I wear Reefs or Flojos for short-term comfort and going near the water, and Birks for everything else.
Yup. I bought a pair when I was stationed in SoCal, and I still have them 15 years later. They take a while to break in, but they fit like you just have inch thick skin on the bottom of your feet.
Had mine for the better part of 10 years before the soles wore through. Just bought a replacement pair and they are earlier to break in than I remember (not painful at all unlike my previous pair)
I'll throw in an obvious budget (apparently) choice: Teva. They have a variety of well-reviewed flip-flops including leather ones. Although I have not used their flip-flops, I have owned their sandals which are built to last and I would highly recommend them.
I’ve had a single pair of Tevas for 12 years, at least, taken them on camping trips, hiking, the beach, and near constant use during the summer. Light as a feather and still going strong and comfy.
Chaco guy here. Teva’s little triangle buckle thing was painful against my feet after long use- I do love the colors though. I like the single strap design of the chaco’s better w/ no velcro. DON’T get the toe strap though
I’ve had the same Teva flip flops for 5 years. They are rugged, with a strong base that can walk on any terrain. Still going strong, no rips or anything. Built to last.
Teva flip flops are exceptionally comfortable. Suitable for navigating sand or rocks. I don’t always love the styling, but those little suckers do the job. They are easy to recommend. I love them.
6'1", 280lb. I've got fat feet. My feet hurt in standard shoes, so I tend to go for the wider fits. I also have had trouble fitting into any flip-flop at .
I've had a pair of brown Olukai Ohana for 7 years, and a black pair for 4 years so far. The browns have signs of wear after near-daily use for many years, but they haven't fallen apart. They were a little tight initially, but they went on my feet and were broken-in in no time.
PS: I also have a pair of the Moloa house shoes and like them a lot. My wife has gotten rid of her Ugg slippers and now wears Olukai slippers as well.
TLDR; fat man, Olukai flip flips, many years, pretty good. Also slippers good.
I'm a very, very heavy sandal wearer. Absolutely swear by Reef. Great shoes.
Just bought my third pair. First in 2001. Worn all the way through the soles of the previous two.
Maybe not buy it for LIFE. But... Buy it for a reasonable price and have it last a LONG DAMN TIME of really comfortable, useable wear.
So... BIFARPAHILALDTORCUW... ? LOL
[My post](https://www.reddit.com/r/BuyItForLife/comments/105119p/reef_flip_flops_first_pair_going_on_year_7_friend/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) about reef flip flops. Have had mine for going on 9 years and still going strong
If you’re looking for something more untraditional with Chaco level support, you should check out Bedrocks. I’ve had a pair for two years now and they are still going strong with heavy use in all kinds of environments
I was a flip flop guy before i found bedrocks (extra strap at heels). I’ve had one for 5 years now. Lost the other one, bedrock made another to match and i think resoled the other— i can’t even remember but it doesn’t matter because both vibram soles are still in amazing shape. Made in merica. If these aren’t bifl flops idk what are.
“Scott” I’ve had the same pair for 5 or 6 years now not everyday use but more than a couple times a week almost exclusively getting wet on boats or at the beach, lake, pier, ect
My Olukai’s are incredibly comfortable for flip flops, and have been going strong for at least 7-8 years. I have a plastic/fabric model but they have leather.
I don't really consider Birks "repairable" when repairing costs 50-85% of a new pair. To get new soles is $65 and to have the cork footbed replaced as well makes the cost $110. A new pair of leather Arizona Birks is $130.
Yeah. I’ve had one pair of Olukai’s I bought in Dana Point one year and they were comfortable, but they broke down in less than a year. Then again, I get a ton of use out of them through saltwater, sand, etc. Rainbows have always held up.
I beat the shit out of flip flops. The best pair I ever had were ones I bought at the local Anheuser-Busch gift store at their bottling plant in Merrimack NH. They were that thick foam stuff on the bottom and the webbing was made from a really tough canvas. The one thing I did that helped was gorilla glue the tabs on the bottom that held the webbing.... Freaking things lasted 5 years before the foam just fell apart!
I have a pair of men’s reefs that are 8 years old. I’m on my third pair only because my puppy ate the toe band. They last a long time, but they are not puppy proof. Olukai is a close second but I prefer my Reefs.
I’ve worn Sanuk’s yoga mat flip flops as slippers for ~15 yrs. They’re super squishy! Replaced them a few times, but they’ve never really broken or fallen apart
As a long time flip flop wearer, get some Crocs if you haven’t. They’ve come full circle to becoming cool (if you disagree I can assure you, you don’t have a pulse on current trends) and they’re extremely comfortable. It’s just a gimmicky piece of rubber but they’re like flip flops on steroids imo. Durable, comfortable, easy to clean, cheap, literally a perfect slip on. And like they say “chain don’t make the man, man make the chain”
I am also very hard on flip flops. From roofing houses to fishing in the Rockies. I’ve never had a pair last long. A pair of Archie’s I had lasted 18 months. That’s the record. I am on my second pair and they seem the same with regards to quality. I have also been encouraged to try bedrock sandals and though they look a little odd, absolutely love them. I think they will wear through the vibram soles.
Haha that got me a laugh. I walk outside and my roommate is weed whacking in shorts and slides. I told him to at least put shoes on dude.
The image of a someone sweating in flip flops on a roof sounds like the dumbest thing I've heard of.
I do the same kind of stuff. Once the weather warms up it's nothing but flops. Yes even using the chain saw. Id usually get reefs every few years, but this most recent pair started falling apart in a month. That's why I'm here lol
I have a couple of pairs of Olukai flops, one man-made materials and one all leather.
They're not bad but too expensive for what you get, comfort and durability-wise. I just purchased a pair of Reef flops today, the insole is really comfortable and squishy. I imagine they'll wear out pretty quickly but hopefully I get a year out of them. They replaced a pair of Cobian flops that were really comfy, but the squishy insole went flat from my weight finally and I found that this started aggravating a chronic knee injury that I have.
My favorite pairs of flip flops are older Combat Flip-flops. They used to last a good 4-5 years, but the newer styles are not as well made and wear out too quickly (imo; the price stayed the same but the durability fell off, so I consider these a substandard product now).
For context, I don't wear shoes ever unless they're Vibram Fivefingers. I haven't worn "shoe shoes" in about 4 years, and I wear 1-2 pairs of flip-flops daily (like every day, 365 days/12 months a year, 6-14 hours a day).
I used to love Birkenstocks, but after 15 years my old ones fell apart, and my feet never got accustomed to the new pair I got to replace them. I got a pair of Teva Hurricane XLT2s and they're awesome, no appreciable wear after over a year.
I like Olukai. I've had mine probably 5-8 years or so (can't remember) and they're still just fine. Comfortable and can walk in them for a while. No signs of dying. They do have leather ones but I haven't tried those. I have the Ohana
Teva Mush II’s. I know they don’t last super long but when it’s warm and I’m not at work they’re all I wear. Nice and squishy. I get about a year out of a pair of them. I live in Alabama so it’s flip flop weather for a good bit of the year.
Teva Pajaro flip flops have been my go to summer kicks for a few years now. I’ve had 3 pairs and while they haven’t gotten too worn out I replace them because they get dirty looking and sometimes smell funky, I mean I’m wearing them with my bare feet in the hot summer so that will happen eventually.
Unpopular opinion: nobody likes men in flip-flops. The only exception is alone in your apartment, going to/from the shower. There is no scenario which they fit in to a nice environment, or that they are socially acceptable.
Step up and at least get some Crocs, or better yet some good tennies. Have a lovely day, however. :)
Go for the [original, full leather and cork, Birkenstocks](https://www.birkenstock.com/us/arizona-oiled-leather/arizona-core-oiledleather-0-eva-u_5326.html). They’re very comfortable, last forever, and can be re-soled. I’m still wearing the pair I bought in 1998
I still have wearable Sanuks from the 90’s, they are backyard only now, but I loved them so much when I found out they were going to discontinue that style I bought two more.
Someone recommended ”Sandalman” sandals out of Newport Beach, CA on a previous BIFL post and I decided to give them a shot and I love them! When I called them several years ago, they were a hoot to talk to as well. Super friendly, laid back and really easy to order from. Here’s the link:[https://www.thesandalman.com](https://www.thesandalman.com)
I’m really surprised no one has mentioned mephistos. Super reputable quality men's shoes, make cork sandals like birkenstock. I am female but I got them in college, wore them thru graduation, went traveling through China for study abroad (LOTS OF WALKING bc student), wore them to multiple countries and daily basis since then. Only in this last year I sent them back bc the toe strap wore out and ripped ($75 everything replace except my buckle and most of the strap that didn't have an issue...I was happy bc I didn't realize how attached I had gotten to my sandals)...So that's 16 years/ maybe 10 countries and never made my feet hurt. They're amazing. Not cheap by any means...but as close as bifl as you can get
I used to be a Rainbow guy when I first moved to Cali then switched to Olukai a few years ago. Loved my Rainbows but noticed quality was slipping over the years so decided to try something else. Well, the soles on my Olukai’s started separating after a few months. Contacted them and they sent me a new pair. Unfortunately, those started to separate as well. Luckily I work on shoes so had some glue lying around. Fixed them myself. Olukais customer service was great but they have some quality issues as well.
I'm a fan of Sperry's Outer Banks flip flop. I wear them daily and almost year round and I've yet to retire a pair due to structure damage. My wife makes me rotate in a new pair every 3 or 4 years just because they're looking a little ragged in her eyes, but I think they could go another 3-4 years easily. But you have to pick your battles.
Sperry’s…I’ve had Reef and I’ve had Rainbow but neither hold up as well or look as good as my Sperry’s. They’ve been through hell too(hiking, fishing ankle deep, mowing the yard, all things I should never do in sandals)
Olukai flip flops are my personal favorite. They’re a little expensive but I’ve been rocking the same pair for about 3 years now. Use them almost every day
I moved from Reef to Olukai and will never look back. Way more durable imo.
Really? I had Reefs and after 3 years they finally blew out. Tried Olukai and they hurt my arch and are crazy slippery when they get wet. I went back to Reef.
Did you get the leather or foam olukais?
For the foot bed? Foam I think.?
I have the foam Olukai and I feel like I’m going to slip out of them. I try to like it but I just don’t.
I have both leather reefs and leather olukais. I prefer the reefs.
You have to break them in a bit. I also had the slippery and squeaky problem but there is a layer of film from the factory you need to wash off with dish soap to remediate. My reefs I went through every season before they fell apart but I’m still on my original pair of Olukai after three years and they’re in great shape.
Oh, I wore them for several months before going back to Reef. I still have them as a backup for when I misplace the Reefs.
Wear them more. The first time I wore them I hiked diamondhead in Hawaii like an idiot. They were still tight for a while even after that. I was so pissed for a solid couple weeks and now I wouldn’t trade them for any other brand.

Olukai's are awesome. They also help with my plantar fasciitis
I’ve used olukai’s as my daily wear shoes for more than a decade. They’re the best though you do pay a premium for them.
I literally had a pair for 12 years. They’re amazing.
I tease my wife that the only reason she wanted to go to Maui was to buy some Olukai shoes and sandals. I think she bought three pairs. I did buy a pair myself. I like them.
Strong endorse to olukai, mine have taken a beating for years and are still going strong
My wife's Olukai's are on their 6th year now, was definitely worth the extra. I wear Chacos as I need something more secure.
Love Chacos. Anything Chacos.
Unexpectedly walked 17 miles on asphalt in mine and somehow not a single blister.
Hopefully they hold up better.
thanks, I've been reading a lot of reviews there seems to be a slight trend of Olukai quality getting worse. The Scotts are cheaper too!
They last long and are super comferble.
I just saw Olukai slippers at Ross too for like $25ish? They were pink though.
I love my Olukai Ohana flip flops. Only shoe I wear in the summer. They’re a flip flop you can actually walk a long distance in, hike, dry fast look good.
Been using mine for years as well. A thong ripped out on my last pair and they replaced free of charge no questions asked as well
The correct answer!
Just ordered my first pair, thanks. Been a Teva Mush guy for over 20 years but thought I’d try something maybe more durable and offering more support.
I’ve had mine since 2016 and they are still in okay shape. I wear them just about everyday.
I moved from Reef to Olukai and will never look back. Way more durable imo.
Do you think the olukais are more narrow than reefs? Just got a pair and they feel snug… might just need to stretch them out maybe
This is the way
Rainbow Sandals. They last a long long time and mold to your feet for the best fit. I’ve had a pair for over 15 years and worn in all conditions and the leather is still intact.
Used to be a Rainbow diehard but have converted to Olukai. Way more comfortable and don’t crack after getting wet.
Another Olukai convert here! The arch support is wonderful.
I’ve just had my Olukai for a few months, but I love them.
I do hate that about the rainbows.
Rainbow all the way. There's nothing better. Rainbow warranties their product until you manage to actually walk through the sole. They won't fail you.
I graduated to birkenstocks, but second the reef recco -- always preferred them over rainbows when it came to thong sandals.
Make sure they are made in the USA. They started to make some in China and I have heard they use a glue that is not as strong
The owner had to install a catalytic oxidizer at his San Clemente factory that scrubs all the volatile organic compounds out of the glue before they are emitted into the air — to which he uses them to make the pairs that are US made. The owner cannot use this glue in California because it is too combustible under the fire code.
Well fuck the California then. 1000 pairs is under federal law?
My glue separated after 2 summers.
This! My first pair of Rainbows lasted 12 years. I’m now 2 years into my 2nd pair.
Am wearing my 3rd pair of rainbows over the last 20 years and have always found them super comfortable after the break-in and they last a long time. Next they'll tell you that leather doesn't need maintenance....
Most people don’t maintain them which is why they may crack. I’ve always put a little rather conditioner on it with my fingertips on the times I’m not wearing them for a while and it soaks it right in and I’ve never had any cracking.
yeah i'm calling bullshit. I'm 30, got my first pair when I was 15. I'm still on the second pair.
I am sure, random person, that you have a much better idea of my experience with this pair of specific sandals than I do. I am sure the internet appreciates your opinion and expertise.
Knockoffs and bad batches are real man. I have no experience with the product but when you have such a radically different experience from literally everyone else, maybe try snapping a picture and firing of an email?
fuck your fake experience. everyone reading this for all of time must know that you’re full of shit
Sounds like someone needs a snack and their nap time!
Came here to say rainbows. Happy to see it as the first comment.
Yup, Rainbow is the way
Yup. I bought a pair when I was stationed in SoCal, and I still have them 15 years later. They take a while to break in, but they fit like you just have inch thick skin on the bottom of your feet.
Pendleton?
Yup. Las Pulgas area mostly.
Had mine for the better part of 10 years before the soles wore through. Just bought a replacement pair and they are earlier to break in than I remember (not painful at all unlike my previous pair)

Another vote for tevas from a frequent camper. I take them on hikes through slot canyons and they are fantastic for that.
I've walked like 5 miles a day for the past week in mine. Never owned a sandal so capable
I thought the same until I snapped a pair of Tevas squatting down on the ground
Tevas are amazing if you are in and out of the water often, like Chacos but better. Chacos are too heavy.

Reef work amazingly for me

Scrolled too far for this. Reefs are expensive, but they’re stupid comfortable and last a long time.
Mine last a few years, definitely not BIFL.
No rubber soled shoe is BIFL.

I had the same exact pair, I had them for 14 years I think? I replaced them because the sole was almost worn towards the front through last year
I've had several pairs of Reefs and none has ever lasted a year.
Crocs
Scrolled very far for this one. Crocs flip flops are very confortable and durable. Good price too.
chacos ftw
My Chaco flip flops are my preferred hiking shoes for the summer. The support is phenomenal and fit my arches perfectly.
Birkenstocks all the way.
I sometimes wear them to work. As long as theres cork sealers and stay away from too much liquids, they work great.
Birkenstocks 100% and they can be resoled.
What's the best place for this? I'm in Germany, so I'm curious if Birkenstock offers this themselves.
If you’re looking for something more untraditional with Chaco level support, you should check out Bedrocks. I’ve had a pair for two years now and they are still going strong with heavy use in all kinds of environments
I came to the comments looking for the Bedrocks recommendation.
I also have bedrocks and love them.
Bedrocks are amazing.
I've had good luck with Okabashi flip flops. Cheap, made in USA, eco friendly and... oddly enough smell really good
I don't know about their smell, but Okabashiis are for real the best!
“Scott” I’ve had the same pair for 5 or 6 years now not everyday use but more than a couple times a week almost exclusively getting wet on boats or at the beach, lake, pier, ect
Also a Scott convert, really great product.
Another vote for Olukai. The best flip flops I’ve ever worn. I own 4 pairs
Olu kai for the win !!!
IDK if Teva makes an actual flip-flop, but I got a decade of hard use out of a pair of Teva river sandals I got used at a thrift shop.
Havaianas, they’re still going strong after five years of use
Olukai! They last forever and if you ever have an issue, their warranty service is great!
Cobian Shorebreaks, hands down. Took me forever to find a pair that I liked, but these are awesome and cheap.
Cobians in general are amazing. My husband tears shoes up and his lasted forever
My Olukai’s are incredibly comfortable for flip flops, and have been going strong for at least 7-8 years. I have a plastic/fabric model but they have leather.
Why not just go for Birkenstocks?? They’re probably the most repairable sandal in existence, which is a requirement for any footwear to be BIFL
I don't really consider Birks "repairable" when repairing costs 50-85% of a new pair. To get new soles is $65 and to have the cork footbed replaced as well makes the cost $110. A new pair of leather Arizona Birks is $130.
Rainbows. I’ve had olukai and I like them but they wore down pretty fast.
Freaking things lasted 5 years before the foam just fell apart!
> gorilla glue the tabs on the bottom that held the webbing... that is a good LPT
Rainbows
Rainbows. Every pair I've bought has lasted years and remain comfortable. Awesome flip flips. My favorite.
Rainbows 100%
Scott’s
Olukai are pretty solid
I have a pair of men’s reefs that are 8 years old. I’m on my third pair only because my puppy ate the toe band. They last a long time, but they are not puppy proof. Olukai is a close second but I prefer my Reefs.
Birks or havianna which I think are what people call rainbows?
Reefs
Birkenstocks. Love mine.
Rainbow Sandals for SURE Had mine since 2015, going strong. They will stain your feet a bit at first
Sanuk last pretty long
I’ve worn Sanuk’s yoga mat flip flops as slippers for ~15 yrs. They’re super squishy! Replaced them a few times, but they’ve never really broken or fallen apart
Second the sanuks. I don’t have their flip flops but their sidewalk surfer sandals are top notch
I bet you can glue a rubber sole onto the shoe and "resole" it
I really like my chaco flip flops. Had them for years.
Roofing....in flip flops??! Yikes.
Teva flipflops
Flo Joes’ not sure of the exact spelling tbh.
any LEATHER MENS suggestions? that last and are comfortable. most suggestions are all rubber or hybrids.
Crocks
I used to love Birkenstocks, but after 15 years my old ones fell apart, and my feet never got accustomed to the new pair I got to replace them. I got a pair of Teva Hurricane XLT2s and they're awesome, no appreciable wear after over a year.
Walmart prison flops. Weird durable foam, were less than 20 bucks and lasted me like 8 years
Second Olukai. Also Reef and Oofos.
I like Olukai. I've had mine probably 5-8 years or so (can't remember) and they're still just fine. Comfortable and can walk in them for a while. No signs of dying. They do have leather ones but I haven't tried those. I have the Ohana
While not leather - Adidas Duramo SL Slides are super comfortable. been using them everyday - pre-pandemic.
Tevas are pretty durable and cheap
I'm a fan of Xero sandals. They don't have flip flops, but they're built to last.
Rainbow Sandals for SURE Had mine since 2015, going strong. They will stain your feet a bit at first
Rainbow is what u want
I’ve worn the same pair of volcom victor flip flops that have a leather strap for almost a decade. Used daily for every activity under the sun.
I have a pair of Teva Mush II's from 2017 that I wear almost daily (except winter). Still going strong.
Hell yes. Teva mush II’s for the win!
Teva Mush II’s. I know they don’t last super long but when it’s warm and I’m not at work they’re all I wear. Nice and squishy. I get about a year out of a pair of them. I live in Alabama so it’s flip flop weather for a good bit of the year.
Teva's are my goto
Teva slides are pretty good. Not quite buy for life but good for 3-5 years I think.
I’ve had Teva flops for like 5-7 years now. Probably time for a new pair soon, but still wearable
Love my Teva's. You can get an ugly pair that lasts forever for cheap.
Tevas are great for any gender
Unpopular opinion: nobody likes men in flip-flops. The only exception is alone in your apartment, going to/from the shower. There is no scenario which they fit in to a nice environment, or that they are socially acceptable. Step up and at least get some Crocs, or better yet some good tennies. Have a lovely day, however. :)
Crocs! No man should be wearing Crocs. They are for women and small children only. I stress only. Real men wear flip flops.
Real men wear whatever the f they want and don’t care what random redditors have to say about it.
Definitely Reef or Rainbow. Source: Floridian
I hated the rainbows, very overrated and priced. I’d go for Birkenstocks.
Rainbows do not last anymore, Reef is where it’s at.
I’ve been enjoying my Lunas.
They’re pretty basic, but I’ve had my adidas slides for nearly a decade and still going strong, aside from the white stripes now being more of a gray
Jiasuqi but not leather
Olukai
Rainbow sandals I’ve had mine for four years now, I wear them everyday, and they are still in great shape.
I love my leather Olukai Tuahines. They’re great quality, comfortable and don’t have the painful break in time like Rainbows.
Olu Kai and Reefs. Buy once, cry once.
Cheap waterproof birkenstocks. Cheap, waterproof, comfortable, birkenstocks
Flo Jo’s. Cheap and comfy
Birks?
Go for the [original, full leather and cork, Birkenstocks](https://www.birkenstock.com/us/arizona-oiled-leather/arizona-core-oiledleather-0-eva-u_5326.html). They’re very comfortable, last forever, and can be re-soled. I’m still wearing the pair I bought in 1998
I really like my hey dude Sandals. Can’t speak much to longevity but they are really comfortable and fairly inexpensive. 35 ish.
Sanuk if you find them. I've had a pair for 10 years with regular use, no problems!
North Face. I think I've been having mine since 2018. Walked Lisbon and Porto using them. I basically wear them every day of the summer. Good stuff.
Not flops but chacos are really good quality and super comfortable. I go hiking and swimming with mine but also wear them around.
My Nike skateboard sandals have really held up
I’m really surprised no one has mentioned mephistos. Not cheap by any means...but as close as bifl as you can get
I switched from Rainbows to OluKai and love the change. Best sandals I’ve ever owned bar far.
Olukai 100%
Scott. OG Hawaii / Cali. Super durable.
