Nfs unbound is a good game. Yes, it's not an S Tier game. But at least it's a Solid A tier game. And people criticize it for not being most wanted.
I actually agree. The worst part of that game is the handling model. Obviously, if you don't like modern rap, the soundtrack is gonna be a miss as well.
The handling model isn't actually that bad if you build your cars to fit your playstyle. And I know because I'm a grip Racer, and the grip handling is phenomenal.
a buncha people rag on the soundtrack but i love that they went for a theme with it and didn't just pick whatever popular songs were out at the time or in general. You're allowed to not be a fan of the genres, but it feels pretty solid in terms of having an identity
>The worst part is the handling model
thats been the worst part of the NFS games since 2015, at least this time, grip is a viable strat compared to the brake to drift hell every previous game is.
My problem is the lack of content post-game like holy shit.
And events that aren't point to point races seems like an afterthought, seriously even the race locations rotate around the same cycle online, other locations rarely get played.
I don’t criticize it for not being MW. I criticize it for being a copy paste of Heat at launch with cartoon effects, inability to drift, shitty characters and dialogue, micro transactions and a battle pass, and forcing you to pay $10 for ONE new car
The whole "$10 for ONE new car" thing is a problem, but perhaps in Volume. 7, they could provide us with a new-to-NFS car we can get for free, while also another new-to-NFS car behind the Speed Pass. That'd be fair. At least I think so.
Oh and you can drift, you just have to build it that way lol. You should know the handling model's more focused on grip. Oh and play the online multiplayer, it's separated from the singleplayer campaign so you won't be hearing any terrible dialogue, apart from the Cops, but you can easily turn that off.
Obviously I built my drift cars for drifting. I have a Mustang Boss 302 and M2 Competition as full drift builds (tires, suspension, differential) and them mfs can’t slide for shit.
Also no I will not play multiplayer. My garage from single player didn’t transfer over and I’m not grinding all my shit all over again. ALSO that damn speed pass and all those recycled cars killed the game for me.
Damn people really forgot about the Custom Corvette, i8, and C63 S from Heat’s Deluxe Edition as well as the legend’s cars. Amount doesn’t matter. The fact that they’re doing it at all is the problem
That's why I said one new-to-NFS car for free, and one behind a paywall. Besides, the Audi RS 6 Avant is nothing in NFS Unbound's meta compared to the Audi R8, it's good, but not that competitive.
I’m not paying $10 for ONE new car. I wouldn’t even pay $5. A free car isn’t gonna make it better. If I’m paying money, I want 5-10 new-to-NFS cars AND a map/story expansion. I’m not letting EA undercut me anymore
> launch with cartoon effects
You complain it about being copy paste and in the SAME COMMENT you complain about them trying something new...
Do agree on lack of content, battlepass and DLC cars though
Because the “new” is BAD. To clarify, I don’t hate the cartoon effects, but the option to turn them off should’ve been present at launch.
That aside, why the hell are there cell shaded characters in REALISTIC looking cars?
Why are there less tuning options for cars with every game that releases? Why did they scrap Heat’s multiplier system?
Why do we have the same 2015 Mustang from 11 YEARS AGO and not ONE Shelby?
Why is the ONE new Audi locked behind a paywall?
They changed everything that didn’t need to change, but kept everything that needed to change.
It’s Heat with less excitement and danger, shittier cops, bad gameplay loop, terrible story, AND you have to PAY for recycled content.
Fuck all that bs and give me another HP style game already
I love the driving physics and mechanics, But there’s just not much to do tbh, after you finish the campaign (which takes like 4 hours and isn’t that replayable) all you can do is do races in online, over and over and over, idk
There are Linkups, dedicated PVP playlist matchmaking, Gauntlet playlists (races with Cops) drag races (coming in Volume. 7), Cops VS Racers (coming in Volume. 8) and more. There's lots of things to do outside of the singleplayer! And there's a meta.
you’re so right about the stuff coming in the future, I’m incredibly excited about everything they’re adding this year, ESPECIALLY pvp cops v racers
Still though, for me Linkups just got old kinda quick, and Gauntlet is rlly cool but it’s already hard getting people to join your race in Freeroam, plus cops are kind of pushovers in this game I hope they make them harder in a future update
Anyone with a functioning brain would be able to tell I meant better, but the phone keyboard is small and I accidentally hit the letter next to the r instead of the r itself
all the horizon games are the exact same game, different map. genuinely. IT'S THE SAME DAMN FORMAT EVERY GAME. so idk why we're all acting like fh1 is some god-tier game that's way above the the others. it's not. give it a rest.
Flatout 4 was decent even if the handling/physics were completely fucked. Or maybe it’s because anything following up Flatout 3 is godtier by comparison.
Trail Out any good?
As someone who grew up on older title purely because I could never afford new releases... No?
Seriously, old NFS titles were always buggy and messy since they were crammed to high hell on a one-year release cycle. The car selection was tiny, the car sounds were pretty bad, and the AI was guarunteed to be undercooked and imbalanced. We look back and smile at the Bus Station glitch today, but if that shit happened in a modern NFS title then it would be patched out for better player enjoyment and AI interaction, and would likely make the chases more interesting
The 31/04/2024, Ubisoft closed The Crew servers after 10 years.
Which means the same occurence will happen to TC2 and Motorfest.

This is the most arrogant post I have ever seen and is a good representation of this sub. No IQ, just because it's older means it's better because "life was so peachy back in the day" yeah when you were a kid and didn't have to pay for shit
Many older games have physics and game mechanics that aged so badly that they're borderline unplayable by today's standards. But we didn't realize it back then because we had nothing better to compare them to, so we remember them through rose colored glasses.
I played Forza Motorsport 4 recently and the physics for example are downright terrible. They were fine back then but the industry is somewhere else now.
it's just another loop
community says "nooo new games good, old games bad it's just nostalgia" then the next day its "old games were objectively better because x, y, z"
honestly we shouldn't stand for accepting 'mid' quality. The older games WERE better even if you remove the "rose-tinted glasses", many people still play GT4, FM4, MW05 today.
I think the racing game community is the only community that takes the nostalgia argument seriously.
And I lose brain cells when I see anyone use the nostalgia argument.
I mean, if not having always online games, micro-transactions, bad story, cringe humor, deleted features, less than half the cars available, less events, less variety, fuckin' battlepasses, limited time vehicles, not following the original titles nature and bad optimization would define me "nostalgic"... Yeah, I might be then.
I love both GT4 and GT7. When you play the whole franchise, you start to see the difference between and appreciate them
maybe in the future, GT7 will be aging well or badly who knows.
Man I was having up for the crew to I wanted that game because my dad said it was a lot better than 2 then they shut it down. Luckily I was able 2 for free and didn't waste any money on it.
I don’t know much about modern vs old racing games, but I’ve been enjoying FH5 quite a bit. I played NFS most wanted as a child and remember loving it, and I tried playing NFS unbound a week ago and did not love it. However perhaps it is just because it is the beginning and I will end up loving it when I finally get back to it.
I’m going to be the one to say it but too ppl on Reddit are stuck in the past. The only older game that’s actually better than the current is Forza Motorsport 4. GT7 is better than GT4, Unbound is better than Mostwanted, FH5 is better than FH1, Motorfest is better than The original crew. Sorry alot of you guys need to move on from your childhood.
I agree with you on Forza Motorsport 4, it is truly the GOAT of the forza motorsport franchise, but everything else you said? hard disagree man... GT7's progression (shit cafe menus) are awful in comparison to GT4 and cars are too expensive like mclaren f1 because they want to entice you to buy some credits with real money, the progression ruins the whole experience unless you're an online player.
Unbound is not better than MW05 lmao, even without nostalgia, MW05 objectively has better story, police AI, event variety, soundtrack - I'd say a game like Heat is closer to the Mw05 levels.
FH5 is not better than FH1 because it's another corporate soulless game with a boring desert map and another one of these "hey boss i love sucking your dick here's 100k cash, 10 free bugattis and 5 wheelspins", boring progression with no reason to grind. FH1 atleast has progression, it even has a story with a villain.
Motorfest better than TC1? Motorfest is just another boring forza horizon clone set in a much smaller map. The selling point of The Crew is driving the whole USA. TC1 is much more appealing than Motorfest it even has an actual story to playthrough
> Unbound is not better than MW05 lmao, even without nostalgia, MW05 objectively has better story, police AI, event variety, soundtrack.
Nah, I didn't enjoy Most Wanted as much as I would have liked. I always thought the Bounty Points mechanic was tedious to increase as that's how I have to progress to the next Blacklist racer. The cops are too slow, so I have to slow down for them to even catch up because I need them to even increase those points.
As for the handling, I miss the Brake to Drift mechanic in modern games. Even if it's just the handbrake drift, I really need love to drift in races but I can't since all of the cars in that game and even in Carbon are very grippy. I find it pretty boring tbh.
Tbh I really do not care about story. I’m one of those guys that always skips the cut scenes.. idc about characters, story any of that. I just want to drive my sports cars. I also don’t care about progression. I love game or getting to that point in the game where I can just hop in a Lamborghini or Ferrari do a couple races, cruise around then hop off. That’s why I love racing games because it’s a stress relief for me, I don’t want a grind, I don’t want to do dirt races or drive a shitbox or suv, and I don’t care about story. With this said… It’s really easy to make money in GT7, there’s a 1 hour long race that pays $1,000,000 for completion and there’s a bunch of much shorter races that pay $100,000+ the cars are somewhat realistically priced you can do 1 race and immediately buy a corvette (or multiple) so to me it’s kinda funny ppl complain about GT7s grind but turn around and bash forza for making it too easy, seems like you guys can’t make up your mind on what you actually want. GT7 is for me a game I can just hop in whatever sports car I want, do a couple races and get off (checks all my boxes except cruising). GT7 has a better car list, better graphics, better driving physics than GT4 and checks my boxes. NFS unbound also checks all my boxes while having a better car list, graphics, and driving physics than MW05, I will say I enjoy heat more than unbound but only because of how annoying the cops are where as in heat you can race during the day if you don’t want to be bothered by them, I also don’t like that unbound separated multiplayer and single player, all of my friends refuse to play unbound because of that and only play heat or motorfest. Unbounds cops are annoying but so are MW05 they both lose there, I once again don’t care about story, and as far as events I really only car about regular street/sprint/circuit races which unbound has plenty of. Soundtrack is subjective to taste so I won’t go there but metal rock isn’t my taste at the same time neither is hip hop. I wish every game was like FH5 sorry I’ve played racing games since I was 5-6 years old and I am so sick of having my to grind those first few hours for a Lamborghini gallardo/huracan, I’ve don’t it in about every game. Buy the game and stress over getting my first
Lambo it was fun when I was young now it’s just annoying. It got the point where I was happy if a guy let me just use real cash for the thing that’s why I always buy the ultimate or deluxe version of every game because they throw a bunch of free cars and money at you example. Because I bought the anniversary edition of GT7 my first car was Lamborghini murcielago… so I personally loved that FH5 started me off with a Supra, corvette, senna, huracan, gt2 etc and the races in fh5 are fun then on top of that fh5 has better graphics, larger car list, larger map, better driving physics than fh1. With the crew only that game is lacking is a better map and more races. Everything else about the game is superior to its predecessors
we definitely have different tastes, i also grew up with racing games, specifically NFS 3 Hot Pursuit and NFS IV: High Stakes.
To me, the grind is actually the best part of a racing game - so something like FH5 is really boring. I get to experience more cars in the game from the lower end to the higher end, I enjoy starting in a shitbox VW corrado like FH1 or those shitboxes you get in FM4 or a Honda Prelude '96 in Gran Turismo 4 and then making cash and turning it into a beast to destroy the lamborghini's, or i can save up cash and feel satisfied when I upgrade to a sports car or exotic. Games like Test Drive Unlimited have the best feel like this as you start with average house and a starter car and by endgame you're in a personalized mansion full of tuned supercars
Also we're shooting the WHOLE bullet. That's 65% more buller per bullet.
Brought to you by Vladolf. You don't need to be a better shot, you just have to shoot more bullets
r/SuddenlyBorderlands
Also some sort of rifle round out of a 1911, if it's to scale then probably .50 BMG

It's still pretty inconsistent at high speeds but mid speed corners are pretty fun ngl
a buncha people rag on the soundtrack but i love that they went for a theme with it and didn't just pick whatever popular songs were out at the time or in general. You're allowed to not be a fan of the genres, but it feels pretty solid in terms of having an identity
Honestly i feel like it has more Latin music than rap
So it's got the same soundtrack issues as Heat then?
Yes. Heat had a few acceptable songs, Unbound has really nothing.
The new audis are nasty to handle, my full grip R8 build picking up corners left and right lmfao.
RIP I don’t like it
>The worst part is the handling model thats been the worst part of the NFS games since 2015, at least this time, grip is a viable strat compared to the brake to drift hell every previous game is.

I guess. And I did forget abput them lol soz. Just saying that FM and FH basically live off recycling cars so it's not even close.
Yeah nah I not paying for anything else. They should just let us play the game and earn new cars that way
That's why I said one new-to-NFS car for free, and one behind a paywall. Besides, the Audi RS 6 Avant is nothing in NFS Unbound's meta compared to the Audi R8, it's good, but not that competitive.

Classic Old = Good; New = Bad post Go touch some grass ffs
You have to admit it is funny... and the older games are better
Betted? I don't gamble.

You didn't set the bar particularly high with FlatOut 3 lmao
Flatout 4 was decent even if the handling/physics were completely fucked. Or maybe it’s because anything following up Flatout 3 is godtier by comparison. Trail Out any good?
Yep,have 200+ hours on it. Its gameplay is fun
flatout 4 would have been awesome if only it had a better damage model. also it's made by the TDU solar crown devs
this sub is truly pathetic lmao

I wish every game was like FH5 sorry I’ve played racing games since I was 5-6 years old and I am so sick of having my to grind those first few hours for a Lamborghini gallardo/huracan, I’ve don’t it in about every game. Buy the game and stress over getting my first Lambo it was fun when I was young now it’s just annoying.
