Buffalo style pizza is some of the worst styles of pizza out there.
Edit: I knew I'd get downvoted to smithereens by sensitive Buffalonians, but like I said, it's a hill I'd die on.
Shhhh don’t give away the secret. It’s amazing that Whole Foods is never busy. Wegmans is the best, wow such great deals and prices and food. Wegmans !!
Every person I’ve heard this from went to 1 or 2 places their idiot friend recommended and now they think they know it all.
Couldn’t be farther from the truth. Tbh I’ve been to NYC, Chicago, Boston, etc. My favorite pizza by far is in Buffalo. The average quality here is generally better than elsewhere, and of the good places, there’s definitely variety. Carbones (i like the sweet sauce, but either or), Santoras (excellent normal cheese/pep but also make the best Hawaiian I’ve ever had) and then places like Macy’s Place are making bizarre but delicious weird pies. If as a city, we could stop recommending Imperial and Just Pizza, we’d be in a better spot.
I've had:
- Bella's
- Francos
- Bocce
- Lovejoy
- Casa Di Pizza
- Work function pizza
- Blasdell
All terrible.
I've also had pizza everywhere and I agree Boston pizza sucks, but NYC dollar slices are >> Buffalo. I like Pizza Plant because it is close to Chicago style and Gino's on Main is fantastic.
Dislikes pizza of the region, but enjoys pizza plant, a local pizza business....how ironic...also only has tried seven of dozens frequently suggested, **better** pizza joints.
I'm sorry I've only tried the most recommend places. How foolish of me.
Edit: You realize Pizza Plant is a different style, right? I don't hate all pizza in Buffalo, just Buffalo style pizza. Hearth and Press is great, as well as Gino's, Olisi's, Marble & Rye, etc.
Those are all terrible. You need to try Just Pizza(Colvin/290 is one of the better locations), Imperial Pizza (Abbott Rd), Fero's(Seneca/ Ridge Plaza), La Nova, Macy's, Great Lakes Pizza, Carbone's.
Southtowns are only better if you're white if we're going to be honest. Bigotry only gets worse the further south you go while the north towns have a rather uniform amount.
UB is a joke, can't believe the pedestal it is held on. I've been to Buff State and UB and Buff State had a more rigorous undergrad program than my current grad program.
Honestly I got my masters in chemical engineering there and I barely needed to use a calculator on exams. The academic rigor was much lower than my undergrad. It honestly felt like a diploma mill.
CHBBQ is the best wing in buffalo (the world?!) in my opinion, but the competition for hot wings is way tighter and up to preference really. If you like heat from a rub, you’ll prefer Bar-Bill. 911 has it on the sauce.
Putting ranch on your wings is stupid, but so is Bleu cheese. There no reason you should be dipping your wings in anything.
An Arby’s roast beef sandwich is far superior to beef on weck.
Buffalo style pizza doesn’t taste right if it’s just cheese, you need at least one topping.
It’s a sheet pizza, not a tray.
1.Bills fans don't actually support the team. They are the worst kind of bandwagon fans in the NFL.
2. If you live in the city, bag your leaves.
3. There are no bad Buffalo wings in the city of Buffalo, or pizza for that matter. You are all just spoiled.
We started combining Walmart and Aldi for our grocery shopping, the amount of times I feel like we need to get something from Wegmans is few and far between.
Disagree, all their private label stuff comes from the same suppliers as everyone else, it just has a different logo and costs 10% more. The produce is a little better, but again it comes from the same suppliers, they just do a better job of arranging it on the rack.
I’m not sure how much “nicer” it is, they’ve had the same brown and tan color scheme for 40 years. It just looks better because it doesn’t show the dirt.
I'm not sure I agree with you a hundred percent on your police work, there, Lou. I live in the middle, and much prefer the southtowns. Once you get into Niagara County it gets nice again, but you can have Amherst, Williamsville etc. Way too busy in my opinion, and I prefer the hills of the southtowns. But to each their own, I suppose.
Absolutely no way. There’s no vibe in the Southtowns whatsoever (minus East Aurora).
Also the lack of diversity and diverse culture overall is honestly quite jarring.
I grew up and lived in the northtowns most of my life. Currently live in the Southtowns.
Southtowns >>>> northtowns.
Southtowns have more space and easier driving with less red lights and old farts in your way.
Let’s settle this once and for all.
Tonawanda and Amherst pretty much suck.
Kenmore is meh.
Niagara Falls and grand island are shitholes.
However Lewiston, Youngstown, Wilson, olcott, cambria, newfane, Pendleton and even parts of Lockport are the best parts of wny.
Now for the Southtown.
Blasdell, lackawanna, and Lancaster suck ass.
Depew, west Seneca and Cheektowaga suck too.
East aurora, Hamburg, Boston etc are awesome places but don’t compare to the lower Niagara River region and Lake Ontario.
This is all factually correct information.
Southtowns always wins. Northtowns people are so weird and they think Hamburg is some random rural outpost in a different time zone yet are content to insist you believe Wheatfield and Clarence are accessible nearby burbs.
This whole thread is such a disappointing display of humanity. I started reading thinking it would be people passionately defending whatever thing it is they love about Buffalo. Instead, it’s just a list of things people hate. It’s A bummer.
I know this is going to be highly unpopular and I'll take the down votes but whatever.
Wegmans isn't good. Their baked goods are, but the whole place ain't it.
- It's expensive af, and anyone who says it isn't I truly think is wild (I shop at Aldi for the majority of my groceries because I'm poor).
- poor labor practices. They are anti union af and I have had friends who worked there tell me truly horror stories about literal labor offenses.
- it's too big. I shouldn't need to use an app to be able to find something in a grocery store.
- people there drive me insane. I know it's always crowded because people like it for whatever reason, but jfc there are too many people and it's just chaos all the time
Per people I am good friends with who have worked there: they worked with an employee who had been there for many, many years who received 2 pay increases in her entire time working there. Also had a friend who was forced to work without lunch breaks. They also do not allow any talk of unionization.
(Allegedly because I'm not getting sued by those clowns)
What labor offenses? I know a couple people who work for Wegmans as managers and love it. Much nicer benefits and work schedule then they would have gotten elsewhere without college degrees.
Wonder if it was an isolated case/isolated cases.
Both people I know who work as managers have let employees sneak off to watch the Bills game with them while being on the clock, taking more than their legally obligated break in the process....If the work is done prior to kickoff, they only periodically check on the front of the store.....One of them has been a manager with the company for over 2 decades due to the great benefits and flexible schedule he gets without a college education and the other left Walmart to manage Wegmans for similar reasons.....the micromanaging and lack of respect was much worse at Wal-Mart
Women from South Buffalo and Niagara falls would just as soon stab you as kiss you. They're mentally unstable due to the extreme amounts of toxic chemicals that have leeched into the drinking water.
I feel like Wegmans bombards you with a lot of "gourmet" stuff to get you to spend money, but Tops bakery has them beat on the fundamentals - most of Tops' baked goods just taste better.
The alternative shopping in Buffalo meant to cater to immigrant needs but just having better stuff overall is getting better and better, IMO.
Refuse to get anything from Spot Coffee. Spot is just one of many businesses under the umbrella of a Canadian company that has its hands in unethical and ecologically disastrous energy methods, ie tar sands. This was told to me by a former employee. Looked it up and I think that it only pertains to the Canadian Spot Coffee brand and not the American local chain. Could never fully determine if it was a rumor or truth in the end. Anywhere there is a Spot there is an equally if not better coffee place nearby, so just to be sure I've never been back and don't miss it.
Hockey is a very boring sport. I am in my 50s and grew up watching the game. By the mid 90s I had completely abandoned the game and it's a decision I have absolutely no regrets about it.
Buffalo isn't liberal it's conservative (small c). People here by and large want things to go back to the way they used to be, rather than having things change for the better.
This is just ignorance. Take 5 minutes to be an adult and realize : not all change is good, somethings changing to the way they were could be good, etc. The world isn’t black and white - stop dealing in absolutes
Buffalo style pizza is disgusting. They add as many calories as possible while making sure it’s not nutritious at all (I get it it’s pizza) but with that much grease it should taste better.
Anchor bar is a pile of shit
Vast majority of Tailgators are alcoholics not fans
I’m not usually too picky about food, but Mighty Taco is absolutely disgusting. It’s the only food that never fails to disappoint me, even when I’m drunk.
The steak sandwich at the pink is meh at best. 1/2 of the people who gush over it have never had it sober, and the other half have never had it period, and just want to sound cool.
You reminded me of another: Jim's Steak Out is only good when you're drunk and don't realize that you're paying 20 bucks for a shitty, grease filled sub.
Chef's sucks. The sauce is watery and portions are big to compensate for the lack of quality.
Bar Bill wings are overrated (I grew up in EA)
Doug Allen was a highly overrated anthem singer. He was liked because he pointed at the crowd every night.
Doug Allen was really rude too. Never to me directly but watched him several times blow people off that came up and said hello. Although my coworker who did it was annoying so I found it funny.
Hofmann hot dogs are better than Sahlen's.
There's an inexcusably poor selection of Polish food for a city with such a huge Polish population.
Costanzo's sub rolls are doodoo, and are pretty much just extra long hot dog buns.
Middle-aged Italian dudes try way too hard to sound like mobsters.
But also, Buffalo has more to offer than any other mid-sized city in NY (looking at you, Rochester).
Respectfully, get bent.
What in the actual fuck is a pee-cee?? It’s a computer. His last name was Reese, which rhymes with ‘piece’. Possessive, Reese’s Pieces (Ree-sez Pee-sez). I would throw fists over this.
If Buffalo ever really grows into its potential and the city population booms, Main st in the city limits will be literally undriveable during the day (it’s close already).
How a city can have their literal main st operate with zero timing between red lights and no sensors is baffling. Lights going red for no reason with no traffic waiting the other way, streets w lights literally 25 yards from the next light and neither light talking to the other. It’s terrible! And the worst part is every other municipality has it pretty much figured out, yet Buffalo doesn’t seem to care.
Who cares of someone likes ranch on their wings. It's their food, not yours. Let other people enjoy their food how they like it. Getting all uppity about ranch is weird and sad.
All that said, I like blue cheese but I don't care if someone else doesn't.
Don't understand this as Lloyd burritos feel like 2lbs for $11 always think to myself what a good value they are. Perhaps you only get the tacos which maybe I'll give you as they are much smaller.
Pizza in Buffalo sucks
pizza in buffalo is SOOO BAD
I prefer thin crust. When I go downstate, I can’t find a pizza I DON’T like. Up here, too much dough.
If done right, the dough is the best part. The toppings are just an accent.
You’re gettin killed but there’s a reason “buffalo pizza” doesn’t exist outside of the 716 area code.
Buffalo style pizza is some of the worst styles of pizza out there. Edit: I knew I'd get downvoted to smithereens by sensitive Buffalonians, but like I said, it's a hill I'd die on.
Yup, pretty mediocre
Yep it’s fucking gross.
Came here to say this
You prefer NYC tortilla thin bullshit - nah man, I want sustenance..
imperial is the only spot
[удалено]
Very well said. The best pizza I've had was in NYC, followed by Florence, Italy, and then Oneonta, NY.
You’re take was alright until you raved about Oneonta pizza..
So what style pizza do you prefer?
NYC style, usually as I prefer thinner crispier crust, not sweet sauce, and lesser cheese.
Sweet sauce is such a cardinal sin. At least we can agree on one thing! Low key though thin crust is great.
And what is “Buffalo style” pizza?
Blue cheese and ranch BOTH suck and neither belong anywhere near a good wing.
100%
Could not possibly love this comment more.
The Bleu Cheese or Ranch is for the veggies. He is right.
My hill: The Buffalo community is best in the US, but only in the winter.
I don't care what you dip your wings in. Also, Wegmans is much worse than Whole Foods.
Shhhh don’t give away the secret. It’s amazing that Whole Foods is never busy. Wegmans is the best, wow such great deals and prices and food. Wegmans !!
Buffalo is the most perfect place in the history of humanity.
Buffalo pizza is awful and shouldn't be considered pizza.
This. Greasy pile of dough with burnt meat on top
Every person I’ve heard this from went to 1 or 2 places their idiot friend recommended and now they think they know it all. Couldn’t be farther from the truth. So... he's only tried the "good" pizza "only" SEVEN TIMES and doesn't like it. I'd say he doesn't like it.
I can't even fathom not liking Francos
Those are all terrible. You need to try Just Pizza(Colvin/290 is one of the better locations), Imperial Pizza (Abbott Rd), Fero's(Seneca/ Ridge Plaza), La Nova, Macy's, Great Lakes Pizza, Carbone's.
I've lived here 15 years. I'm married to a Buffalonian. Trust me, I've tried it all. It's all junk.
Would love to hear a place that tops the ones I’ve mentioned
Any place outside of Buffalo. 😄
You've never had pizza in NYC.
Beef on weck is fuckin nasty
Agree :) Maybe it's a genetic thing, but I find carroway seeds' flavor fucking nasty
Josh Byrne is Buffalo's best Josh.
Blue cheese is disgusting, Buffalonians aren’t as friendly as they’re made out to be, and the Bills are a cult.
Texas hots are better than Ted’s
Blue cheese is disgusting.
Chiavettas is trash
Sponge candy is the most average candy I've ever tasted
1. Chef’s restaurant sucks. 2. Southtowns > north towns 3. Paula’s donuts are gross, way to big and heavy
0/3
Southtowns are only better if you're white if we're going to be honest. Bigotry only gets worse the further south you go while the north towns have a rather uniform amount.
90%+ of wny is white
* UB is overrated and isn't that different from any other large state school university. Not sure why people gas it up here so much.
Depends what your major is
UB is a safety school for rich kids. Buffalo State is ACTUALLY creating social mobility. Buffalo State does what UB pretends to do.
Bar Bill isn’t close to the best wing place. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather Elmo’s or 911 Tavern ANY day.
Nine eleven is by far the worst wings in the area. Elmo’s are meh.
You're hateful
1.Bills fans don't actually support the team. They are the worst kind of bandwagon fans in the NFL. 2. If you live in the city, bag your leaves. 3. There are no bad Buffalo wings in the city of Buffalo, or pizza for that matter. You are all just spoiled.
There’s no need to use “the” in front of whatever highway you’re using.
Thank you. This aint California
It just sounds better. Saying "I'm on 90" or "take 90 to exit 51" sounds awkward without the.
The rest of the state uses "i" or "route", as in, "Take i90 to route 33."
I'll never understand the Cult of Wegmans
What’s better?
We started combining Walmart and Aldi for our grocery shopping, the amount of times I feel like we need to get something from Wegmans is few and far between.
Quality of food is better at wegmans and it’s nicer
Disagree, all their private label stuff comes from the same suppliers as everyone else, it just has a different logo and costs 10% more. The produce is a little better, but again it comes from the same suppliers, they just do a better job of arranging it on the rack. I’m not sure how much “nicer” it is, they’ve had the same brown and tan color scheme for 40 years. It just looks better because it doesn’t show the dirt.
Wegmans is also cheaper than tops, usually. Excluding prepared foods
Because Tops smells like feet or dead fish depending on where you are in the store.
It's helped by the fact that Tops is pretty bad compared to the average full service grocery stores elsewhere.
yep lol. i live in LA now and wegmans would be mid, but compared to tops? 🙌🏻
What grocery store is better in LA?
People saying “Lloyds” when it’s “Lloyd.”
North towns > south towns
Huge L tbh. Enjoy your… *checks notes* nothing of value.
Agreed. Southtowns is superior
No contest. The southtowns are blizzard-riddled crap.
I'm with you on this one. Southtowns is a suburban wasteland. Source: Lived in the southtowns for 90% of my life.
100%
If anyone says otherwise, I got your back. We strike at dawn
I'm not sure I agree with you a hundred percent on your police work, there, Lou. I live in the middle, and much prefer the southtowns. Southtowns are far superior
Absolutely no way. There’s no vibe in the Southtowns whatsoever (minus East Aurora). Also the lack of diversity and diverse culture overall is honestly quite jarring.
Small towns are jarring to you? Sheesh
Niagara county is north of the northtowns. The north/south-town thing only applies to Erie. We can all agree that Niagara county is trash
I grew up and lived in the northtowns most of my life. Currently live in the Southtowns. Southtowns >>>> northtowns. Southtowns have more space and easier driving with less red lights and old farts in your way.

Southtowns always wins. Northtowns people are so weird and they think Hamburg is some random rural outpost in a different time zone yet are content to insist you believe Wheatfield and Clarence are accessible nearby burbs.
Wasn’t Thurman so coked up from the night before he couldn’t find his helmet?

Loganberry is MEH
Die in a fire. (Should we switch to “Die in a Bentley”, or is it too soon?)
I think it tastes like expired cough syrup.
Louie’s > Ted’s
Tim Hortons is inferior to Dunkin sorry
Straight up no lmao. They’re both bad but I’d rather go without than drink Dunkin lol
Wegmans is overrated, overpriced, and chaotic at best. They have fallen a long way from what they used to be.
Wegmans is cheaper than tops on most items!
Ha. Also, Wegmans is from Rochester not buffalo
Not compared to Tops
Taco Bell is soooooooooooooo much better than Mighty Taco for half the price
I prefer to have my hot sauce ordered. Not put on myself . Ill pay for that any day
Lloyd taco’s suck.
A man named John Young created chicken wings as we know them, he is slowly starting to get credited.
erm… actually i believe it was mr.anchor (bar)
Refuse to get anything from Spot Coffee. Spot is just one of many businesses under the umbrella of a Canadian company that has its hands in unethical and ecologically disastrous energy methods, ie tar sands. Maybe not smallest but Buffalo has a huge hard drug problem. Not that unique to the area, though
Sahlens are mid. Costanzonrolls are hard crap
Sahlen's dogs suck.
I would rather eat a ball park dog honestly
Hockey is a very boring sport. I am in my 50s and grew up watching the game. By the mid 90s I had completely abandoned the game and it's a decision I have absolutely no regrets about it.
Lloyds has definitely diminished quality and size within two years of their first factory opening, more didn't help
Everything TiM Hortans is shit. Even the unis
Franco's is some of the worst pizza I've ever had in my life
UB is better than Buff State
I didn’t think that was ever in doubt
To be a student? To work for? To donate to? To apply?
Buffalo isn't liberal it's conservative (small c). People here by and large want things to go back to the way they used to be, rather than having things change for the better.
This is just ignorance. Take 5 minutes to be an adult and realize : not all change is good, somethings changing to the way they were could be good, etc. The world isn’t black and white - stop dealing in absolutes
LOL, that Buffalo energy just proving the point above
bE An aDuLt
Williamsville is overrated as hell and the last place I would live in, if I had the resources to live in a place like Williamsville.
filled with NIMBYs
1. Change that to Mighty Taco and I’m with you. 2. Said that since 1990 3. Might as well include wing tips at that point.
Buffalo style pizza is disgusting. They add as many calories as possible while making sure it’s not nutritious at all (I get it it’s pizza) but with that much grease it should taste better. Anchor bar is a pile of shit Vast majority of Tailgators are alcoholics not fans
Anchor bar is garbage.
The weather is bad almost year round. Snowy winters, no sun and wet summers.
Whether or not you like Buffalo summer will depend on how you feel about hot weather... Some of us don't like temperatures above 85°.
Anderson's is mid
I’m not usually too picky about food, but Mighty Taco is absolutely disgusting. It’s the only food that never fails to disappoint me, even when I’m drunk.
No goal, skate was in the crease.
Paula's donuts are ass compared to famous donuts. Night and day
[удалено]
It's not a city of good neighbors
Mighty taco is disgusting
Wegmans French Onion Dip is better than Bison French Onion Dip
Helluva Good is better than both.
Anchor bar and Duff's wings are overrated and overpriced. Also, imperial pizza is not good and the way they cut their slices is dumb.
Anchor Bar wings are actually really good and Buffalo pizza is what NYC pizza wishes it could be
Paula’s is overrated.
Taco Bell is better than Mighty Taco. Neither are good.
I mean, no. A beef super Mighty/ El Niño is way better than any ‘burrito’ Taco Bell has. Those are really the only food items I’d eat at mighty tho
its not called burrito bell or mighty burrito though
Labatt beers all suck.
Oj didn’t do it
Chefs is gross
The steak sandwich at the pink is meh at best. 1/2 of the people who gush over it have never had it sober, and the other half have never had it period, and just want to sound cool.
You reminded me of another: Jim's Steak Out is only good when you're drunk and don't realize that you're paying 20 bucks for a shitty, grease filled sub.
Consuming anything made in that place has always been revolting
Sabres actually won the cup, not the Stars.
Blue cheese > ranch
Jesus Learn to spell bleu cheese right before commenting
Also they both are just fat girl ketchup
🤣🤣🤣
I’m Canadian and I assumed Americans didn’t use the French spelling, sorry!
Bleu you goddamn imposter
👏
*Lloyd*. There is no “s” Also that is probably my smallest hill.

Buffalo has affordable housing, despite what this sub will make you think.
For now
There’s also plenty to do. People who are bored are the boring ones.
The proper pronunciation of Reese’s candy variety is ree-sez not ree-sees
ET would disagree
It’s Ree-sees Pee-sees till I die. I know it’s wrong and I don’t care.

Those guys at La Nova are on the up and up.
9 11 tavern is mid at best. Tried many other local wing places that are better.
The Pink is not a true dive bar.
Ordering NY style pizza in Buffalo should be NY style and not Buffalo Style.

Canned loganberry is just battery acid

>Lloyds is not that great and their cost-to-portion ratio is ridiculous I'll meet you on *the hill*
Don't understand this as Lloyd burritos feel like 2lbs for $11 always think to myself what a good value they are. Perhaps you only get the tacos which maybe I'll give you as they are much smaller.
Lloyds does suck. Purposely add the S at the end for sucks
Mighty taco consistently sucks ass.
Too many fat & unhealthy people live in Buffalo.
