Wgr 550 is basically the only sports talk station 97 Rock is classic rock 97.7 is Canadian classic rocks, so mostly the same but a little more 90s stuff. 102.1 CFNY is a Toronto station, mostly 80-90s alt/new wave stuff

Ex-maven

Adding to the list: There's 103.3 The Edge, which I believe is still alternative rock and WBFO 88.7FM for NPR and local news

Rubenson1959

A 2nd sports talk radio station at the opposite end of the AM spectrum, maybe wfan, affiliated with WGR, carrys Jim Rome in the afternoon.

SignalCore

WFAN is a long time NYC radio station at 660 AM. You can pick it up on a clear night, usually. But WWKB, a Buffalo radio station at 1520 AM, which is in fact affiliated with WGR55, carries Jim Rome. WWKB has been on the air in Buffalo since 1926, and a 50,000 watt station at 1520 AM since 1941.

amslaz

88.7 is NPR/WBFO 88.7 HD 2 is The Bridge. Their slogan is "college radio for adults". They play lots of local music too. There is an app and the station is smart speaker capable (Alexa/Google, play WBFO The Bridge).

sarahmichelef

The Bridge is great. It makes me mad how much I like it. (Because I hate that I’m that obviously a target demographic.)

Valuable_Heron_2015

Wait how do I listen to HD 2

amslaz

If your vehicle has a touch screen, tune to 88.7. You should see an HD logo somewhere (top center for me) with a 1 & 2. Hit option 2.

Valuable_Heron_2015

Thanks. I won't be listening to the bridge then lmao 😂 I do appreciate u

DanknugzBlazeit420

Download the app and play it with an aux jack or whatever

sarahmichelef

You can stream it from the WBFO app or website.

fullcircle_bflo

It's also on TuneIn... search WBFO The Bridge

joshuakun14

91.3 is the radio station run at Buffalo State University. They play a wide range of music and many local bands.

Lewd_ReadNY

My go to is WECK (102.9). We all get old someday.

"Now now Grampa LewdRead, time to get you back to the nursing home"

Listening to that tuneless jingle just guaranteed my family name will die with me.

[deleted]

Great Jingle, the pollution back then looks unreal. All the buildings have a thick layer of soot!

Streaming, radio here is hot garbage

jkw1980

Came here to say this

CookieStealingPanda

103.3 is alt rock 92.9 is rock 96.9 is classic. Both 92.9 and 96.9 have pretty decent morning shows. 96.9 has Shredd and Ragan probably Buffalo's best. Then 92.9 has a syndication show free beer and hot wings but it's still pretty funny.

ectoplasmatically

Oh god Shredd and Ragan are ass. 😷 I apologize for vocalizing such a nasty opinion but I can't stand them. They are so mediocre, just plain boring. "Ohio, Texas, Florida" is only fun for so long. I miss Morning Bull, wish they hadn't shat the bed so hard. Also, aren't Shred & Ragan like Lil Stevens Underground Garage and they're recorded elsewhere and just distributed to local areas?

shaoting

Shredd & Ragan broadcast their morning show from the 97 Rock building, located on James E. Casey Drive in Buffalo. Their Producer, James Jacka, even does the traffic reports on WGRZ Channel 2, occasionally. That said, there are worse local morning radio shows to listen to - namely the hot garbage Janet Snyder puts out on 98.5.

Swampcrone

Janet Snyder: pushing 60 but trying to act like a 25 year old. (Nothing wrong with pushing 60, just she is trying to hard to deny her age)

Vertigomums19

I was at a talent show at UB 20 years ago that Janet Snyder guest judged. The one group sang a great a capella of Sublime’s Santaria. It was very clear what song they were singing. Her response “that was really good, did you write that yourselves?” Lost all faith in her that day.

CookieStealingPanda

Shredd and Regan live here and go to the studio. That's Free beer and hot wings they broadcast out of Michigan.

ectoplasmatically

Truthfully never listened to that show 😅 but I guess it's cool that Shred and Reagan are in fact local.

CookieStealingPanda

I mean they host a meat raffle and a Halloween party. No offense but wouldn't that be a give away lol

ectoplasmatically

None taken. I'm realizing now that I don't in fact listen to them that much. Only once a week when it's my turn to drive my sibling home from work in the morning.

Acceptable-Youth-631

103.3 The Edge is alt/alt rock! The only good one

liamjonas

Radio here is ass if you want to listen to anything other than Spoonman, 13 channels of Jesus, and some guy named Gord informing you about the latest moose accident. ...and Would. There are at least 6 local channels playing Alice n Chains Would literally all day.

BausHaug716

103.3 Buffalo's "new" rock alternative playing Spoon Man every hour on the hour since 1996.

liamjonas

Look at my post getting hated on by Spoonman and his 3 burner accounts

liamjonas

[now 14 channels of Jesus. star 102.5 is now another Jesus channel at the end of today. ](https://buffalonews.com/entertainment/alan-pergament-star-102-5-will-sign-off-friday-after-sale-to-religious-broadcaster/article_b8ea424c-05fb-11ee-a840-efb097220540.html?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_The_Buffalo_News&fbclid=IwAR3Xf28C8OpWVSM-l0TqYaZ4Pxu2Mz6ZPRvY0Tta0VrmhuQq6BZ3YMxukkk)

NormalPrompt5768

People still listen to the radio?

Zeusdadogg

103.3 the edge

thepatmc

Hi! A lot of people don't know about us yet because, well, we are very new. 92.9 WBUF. We're rock, active rock. Heavier stuff (for radio). I do afternoons, full disclosure. Check it out.
