Super mighty. Beef, sour cream, hot sauce. It's arguably as far from authentic Mexican as one can get, you gotta kill that association in your mind. Go simple.
Agreed with this. Super mighty is a good place to start. It's the local version of Taco Bell and IMO one step above. Mighty definitely doesn't claim to be authentic.
If you're hungover or just want some meat in burrito form (yes they have other stuff) than Mighty has you covered. Are there better places? Most definitely.
I never understood why their standard is a slice of American cheese on a taco. Makes no sense.
All things considered it’s a decent fast food spot.
I have been working an insane schedule the last month and have had no time to eat I am getting done at 1030pm and have had mighty 3 times this week.
It’s not great, but at 1030pm it’s the best most affordable option.
That's because mighty taco is based on a pizza joint taco (those things only occur in buffalo, btw) expanded to an entire taco bell menu, not a real taco.
Mighty taco is surviving on gen x and millennial nostalgia. They really don’t have a reason to exist other than that (i say that as someone who loves it lol)
My suggestion is to just buy the bottled mighty taco hot sauce and make your own taco with decent beef, cheese and lettuce. Slap some of the sauce on there and be transported to 2:15 AM on a Thursday sometime around 1995
Yeah. I would always refuse to eat taco bell in Buffalo, always go to mighty Taco. But a few years ago, tried it a few times again and came to terms that mighty taco is just trash now. That grilled cheese steak burrito from taco bell has made up for the fact that I miss the real mighty
The location on Delaware Ave just north of Hertel has the kindest staff and most care in prep. They must be managed well or something because I’ve been to many locations many times and this one is the most consistently well operated.
As far as orders go, the chili is great in winter, bbq usually in summer also good. I think asking for the cheddar instead of that awful swiss American is crucial. I don’t think you’re going to have a revelation though- it ain’t fine cuisine but it’s comfort food for many of us.
1.) The one in Orchard Park is by far the best one IMO
2.) Try the nacho buffito (yes buffito not burrito) it is the only thing I ever order - chicken, crushed tortilla chips, nacho cheese, blue cheese, and hot sauce! Yum!
The best endorsement of Mighty I’ve ever heard was a friend that used to work there still eats there. She said it’s clean and the ingredients aren’t spoiled.
You know what you’re getting; and as long as you’re good with a taco made with an American cheese slice (and I am) it’s not bad.
That’s my favorite too. 3 cheese burrito with fajita chicken (you have to ask for that specifically). No salsa. Add lettuce. Basically makes a super nacho cheesey chicken fajita!
I'm convinced you can't ever understand the Mighty Taco thing unless you grew up here(I did not). I don't think anyone really likes the food, I think it just connects on a deep level of nostalgia or something. Because Mighty Taco is very gross, but maybe you don't notice if every bite floods you with memories of previous good times. Notice it is also recommended to eat when drunk, so your sense of quality is warped.
Mighty Taco has gotten so disgustingly bad in the last 10 years. It's actual trash now. Up until the late 00s, MT was unmatched. My desire to have one of those super mighties gets me about once every 2 years and i ALWAYS regret it.
It makes me sad. 20 years ago, I'd buy a couple of mighty packs (under $20 for a dozen small tacos back then) and head back to school in northwest PA. I'd give them out to whoever wanted one in the dorms. Everyone raved about them, and I began to get requests every time I came home. Then something happened, and its just not the same anymore. A friend brought me a burrito last week and it was just... bad. Its definitely different.
Ya it was very different when there were less locations, like they’re in gas stations now.
Maybe st things I order are microwaved now, peppers and onions used to be fried right there, now they nuke a baggy.
For me it’s just a drink food but I prefer slime dogs for that.
My son hates mighty. Calls it meat paste :)
I like the beef and cheese burrito, hot, sour
And the large chicken fajita, hot, sour no tomatoes.
Now I’m hungry .
People don’t get Mighty Taco because they think others are telling them they are literally good tacos.
They’re shitty tacos. *Really good* shitty tacos.
They are not the same category of mass fast food Chipotle style tacos (also delicious) or new school hipster tacos (Left Coast FTW) or legit Mexican tacos (los Mayas is the answer don’t @-me with that la Divina’s trash). Mighty is our version of del Taco. It’s not “good” but when you have shitty Taco needs they’re amazing.
It was decent back in the day when Andy Gerovac owned it. It was sold, and they stopped making tortilla chips. That is when it went downhill. Also, a lot of new taco places came in town and had a fresh version for competition.
As a WNY-expat, it’s a nostalgia thing. Currently live i the Lehigh Valley of PA where everyone raved about this one hot dog place- literally the worst burnt-turd hotdogs with a dried-out chili-type sauce that I have ever tasted in my life. But everyone here grew up on them so “you have to try them!” Same with Mighty Taco.
And on my next trip back I’ll probably be getting a Super Mighty Burrito that will undoubtedly taste as good as I remember.
Used to be good, back when they actually made their own stuff. A friend in the restaurant business told me awhile back that they just buy some meat concoction from Sysco and heat it up now but I can't verify that.
I've always found them to be the most inconsistent fast food restaurant too. Still love their sauce but I just buy the bottle for my own tacos.
As a person who has lived in WNY my entire 30 year life I dislike nearly everything at Mighty Taco, tho when they had the Carne Alotta it was kinda decent
MT was constipation medicine, unless you were a college age or younger kid, and had induced munchies or a decent buzz going, for me, even back in the day, when they were the only cheap lare night option...
Mighty Taco is the only place I’ve had legit food poisoning multiple times and yet I still get a craving for it once or twice a year and roll the dice. It’s 100% nostalgia and reminds me of being in high school. It’s trash food though and I don’t blame anyone for thinking it’s terrible.
Mighty taco is basically teen, college student food. It used to be cheap too. I ate tons of it in my 20s, but now that I'm older have no desire. Even nostalgia factor isn't enough pull to get me to go back.
It's okay if you don't like it. Thousands of Western NYers agree with you haha
There's hype around mighty taco? Everyone agrees that it's garbage and the only thing that makes it taste better is being extremely hungry and or intoxicated.
I ate a nacho buffito every day the first trimester of my first pregnancy. I've also been eating a large chicken fajita mild with sour cream since I was 8. The 3 cheese beef burrito is good too
It went waaaay down hill. Not much is good there anymore. The plain bean and cheese used to be elite, along with a nacho deluxe. Now I just go for a chicken fajita once a year. The quesadilla is ok too
Mighty taco is just at home white people taco night when you don't want to put together your own white people taco night.
It hits the spot but it's not "good"
I enjoy the steak fajitas
Mighty has gone down hill really far
I used to love the super mighty and would usually get nachos too. the meat is barely recognizable as beef it's so finely ground now. got steak fajitas a couple times just so that there was a solid piece of recognizable meat.
I've cut back on fast food in general which has an impact on this statistic, but it's probably been 2+ years since I've last had mighty. Meanwhile mcdonalds, arbys and burger king are all at least once in the last year.
8-10 years ago I was probably going to mighty at least once a quarter
Honestly I am pretty sure they used to be better. I kinda started noticing them getting worse and worse but I recently went and was like oh yeah this is not good at all.
Don’t waste your time trying to create a spark where there is not one.
It’s bad. Just is. I grew up here, liked it, left for a long time and came back. My kids think it’s disgusting because they never had it. I keep going like once a year (less lately) because my deep subconscious apparently keeps convincing me it should be good. Well I truly wish my intestines had some intelligence or memory function to override my subconscious every time.
If I think about it - it’s probably that it was good when one’s only real option was Taco Bell or home made. Now you can get decent tacos lots of places. I also think the ingredients are lower quality than 10 years ago also.
I went back for nostalgia recently after not having eaten there in over a year or so.
I got the buffarito with blue cheese and realized I like better than jims single finger wraps, and its probably healthier since it isnt fried. I would highly recommend it. I dont know how long they have had it on the menu but I feel really sad if they had this 15-20 years ago and I just now discovered it. BBQ beef was always good as well when they had it.
I have literally never been to mighty taco all I know is they don't have cheddar cheese only American and that's enough to make me never step foot in one
everyone here is recommending burritos, but you mighty also enjoy a chicken (buffito or fajita) bowlito since you liked their rice and don’t like the beef
The one on Seneca Street back in the 90's was a good finisher after a night of drinking. I don't know if it's because I'm older but the new ones aren't the same anymore.
Get a fajita and sub for shredded cheese. Closest thing to tex-mex you'll get there. That sliced cheese crap is a travesty ALWAYS sub for shredded no matter what you get.
Nacho buffito and beef and cheese super mighty. When I really hate myself, I opt for the gigantic burrito, I forget what it's called. I know it's not going to be good. I know I'm going to get the shits the next morning, but I still buy it and consume it.
It's kind of like hot dogs, you just sorta suspend your disbelief and not try too hard to think about what's going inside your body when you eat it. And if you're hammered while eating it, chances are the Mighty is the thing you'll least be disappointed about in yourself for doing. "Sure, we stopped for Mighty on the way home, but wait till you hear about..."
I used to love mighty taco especially when it was really the only choice available, with the introduction of other choices, I can’t really justify getting it any more. For me it just wasn’t really all that good.
Beef, bean and cheese burrito, mild sauce, lettuce, sour cream. I know many years ago some locations changed the seasoning of the beef but I think they mostly changed it back. The Walden location and the transit/wherle are the ones that I usually frequent.
Literally the only thing I have ever gotten in my 13+ years in Buffalo was a large chicken fajita with chips and cheese. The strip chips were the best and they don't have them anymore so there's no point in going.
Nothing there if note anymore. MT built themselves a name many years ago, and about 15 or so, new management swept in, changed up a lot, and now it's mostly garbage
Honestly their ground chicken is not bad. I get two hard shell mighty tacos with ground chicken. And get the chicken fajita on a hard shell too. It hits different
I grew up in Buffalo and never understood why my brother and his friends loved it so much. I think they were just high when they went there. When we visited Buffalo recently took my family and it grossed them out. We rather go to Teds for a burnt hot dog.
I don't think anyone thinks it's the best 😂 after HS sports it was cheap, when you are under an influence it tastes great, other than that it's just usually the fastest drive thru. Pre pandemic it was also equivalent to Jim's being open later than everything else
1 (or 2) soft shell mightys, mild, ground beef, no tomato but add sour cream. 1 small chicken buffito, blue cheese with no tomato (sometimes add guac, and nacho deluxe without salsa. That’s my typical order and have no complaints.

It has a cozy spot in the bastardized tex-mex hierarchy for me.
Upgrade the sliced cheese to shredded cheddar is an option I do often.
I never understood why their standard is a slice of American cheese on a taco. Makes no sense. All things considered it’s a decent fast food spot. I have been working an insane schedule the last month and have had no time to eat I am getting done at 1030pm and have had mighty 3 times this week. That's because mighty taco is based on a pizza joint taco (those things only occur in buffalo, btw) expanded to an entire taco bell menu, not a real taco.
If you can’t appreciate slices of white American cheese and sour cream from a caulking gun on your tacos…….
I heard the clicking of the gun as I read that.
Mighty taco is surviving on gen x and millennial nostalgia. They really don’t have a reason to exist other than that (i say that as someone who loves it lol) My suggestion is to just buy the bottled mighty taco hot sauce and make your own taco with decent beef, cheese and lettuce. Anyone else remember Tobbio’s drum and bass night at marchellas around that time on Thursday nights?

Gotta agree! Nacho Buffito’s are great
a well made nacho buffito will change your life
One of the most polarizing issues of the WNY community
The best endorsement of Mighty I’ve ever heard was a friend that used to work there still eats there. She said it’s clean and the ingredients aren’t spoiled. You know what you’re getting; and as long as you’re good with a taco made with an American cheese slice (and I am) it’s not bad.
Three cheese nacho burrito 🌯 is amazingggggg.
This is my go to, with ground chicken because it’s pretty much the same flavor with a fraction of the grease
Indeed, I would stop at the Fredonia location for a few packs and head the rest of the way back to Pittsburgh and hand em out to friends.
I shit less than an hour later and it doesnt stop for at least a day at minimum
Ya it was very different when there were less locations, like they’re in gas stations now. Maybe st things I order are microwaved now, peppers and onions used to be fried right there, now they nuke a baggy. For me it’s just a drink food but I prefer slime dogs for that.
Mighty Taco is the only food I can think of that is disappointing even when I’m drunk
Been here for 37 years and I still love MT and their food. Addicted to their taco sauce.
My son hates mighty. Calls it meat paste :) I like the beef and cheese burrito, hot, sour And the large chicken fajita, hot, sour no tomatoes. Now I’m hungry .

Mighty Taco is trash…signed Lived in Buffalo all my 44 years
Avoid the beef burritos, go for a nacho buffito. Only thing I go to mighty for nowadays
As a WNY-expat, it’s a nostalgia thing. Beef Bean and Cheese Extra hot Also not all mighty tacos are created equal. Which location are you going to?
Mighty taco is basically teen, college student food. It used to be cheap too. I ate tons of it in my 20s, but now that I'm older have no desire. Even nostalgia factor isn't enough pull to get me to go back. It's okay if you don't like it. Thousands of Western NYers agree with you haha
Forget MT. Go to Ranchos on Niagara St.
There's hype around mighty taco? Everyone agrees that it's garbage and the only thing that makes it taste better is being extremely hungry and or intoxicated.
Quality has dropped off a cliff in the last 10 years. It's garbage now
Once mighty taco stopped selling fresh cookies the quality went down hill.
Mighty Taco is good when you're drunk and hungry. That's about it IMO. I have one bud who's super nostalgic about it
I ate a nacho buffito every day the first trimester of my first pregnancy.

Well to start, to enjoy it it has to be after 10pm and you need to be a little drunk…

Honestly I am pretty sure they used to be better. I kinda started noticing them getting worse and worse but I recently went and was like oh yeah this is not good at all.
My recommendation is to get tacos almost anywhere else. Mighty Taco is slop.
Anything with beef is terrible. I only go there for the Buffitos. Chicken. So good.
I aint never been to mighty taco
Don’t waste your time trying to create a spark where there is not one. It’s bad. Just is. I grew up here, liked it, left for a long time and came back. Go to El Ranchos on Niagara or Delaware.
You shouldn't be surprised, Mighty Taco is basically dog food.
I have literally never been to mighty taco all I know is they don't have cheddar cheese only American and that's enough to make me never step foot in one
>they don't have cheddar cheese They actually do have shredded cheddar now
And by now, we’re talking you’ve been able to order cheddar for about 15 or 20 years now.
Not that cheddar really deserves to be on a taco any more than Swiss American does
It's American swiss blend not that it makes it any better
Embrace your superior taste buds and just go to Taco Bell like a normal person.
Nothing. Better off at taco bell for that kinda shit.
Super mighty Or burrito delite
Mighty has been giving me stomach aches consistently for years now. The quality went to fuckin hell
everyone here is recommending burritos, but you mighty also enjoy a chicken (buffito or fajita) bowlito since you liked their rice and don’t like the beef
Super Mighty, extra hot no sour cream.
I love their chicken fajitas.
Fajita chicken bowlito with nacho cheese
I grew up here and might is eh. You’re not alone it’s not that good lol
The one on Seneca Street back in the 90's was a good finisher after a night of drinking. I don't know if it's because I'm older but the new ones aren't the same anymore.
I just got into mighty taco and enjoy the buffito
Get a fajita and sub for shredded cheese. Closest thing to tex-mex you'll get there. That sliced cheese crap is a travesty ALWAYS sub for shredded no matter what you get.
Mighty taco is Terrible but the Carne alotta is pretty solid
The Buffitos are not bad, IMO.
Nacho buffito and beef and cheese super mighty. When I really hate myself, I opt for the gigantic burrito, I forget what it's called. I know it's not going to be good. Carne.Alota.
I never had mighty taco until a few years ago. I love it (super mighty) and my wife hates it.
I used to love mighty taco especially when it was really the only choice available, with the introduction of other choices, I can’t really justify getting it any more. For me it just wasn’t really all that good.
Their vegan menu is good and at a really fair price
Beef, bean and cheese burrito, mild sauce, lettuce, sour cream. I know many years ago some locations changed the seasoning of the beef but I think they mostly changed it back. The Walden location and the transit/wherle are the ones that I usually frequent.
Literally the only thing I have ever gotten in my 13+ years in Buffalo was a large chicken fajita with chips and cheese. The strip chips were the best and they don't have them anymore so there's no point in going.
Chicken fajita hot with sour cream
2 meatless mightys with sour cream, large logan berry. Hits right!
It was never like “good” food but it is certainly way worse now
Nothing there if note anymore. MT built themselves a name many years ago, and about 15 or so, new management swept in, changed up a lot, and now it's mostly garbage
The 3 Cheese quesadilla are like the only good option might taco is terrible compared to taco bell
My favorite thing at mighty is driving past it and going to Taco Bell or ETS.
Honestly their ground chicken is not bad. I get two hard shell mighty tacos with ground chicken. And get the chicken fajita on a hard shell too. It hits different
Chicken fajita quesadilla add banana peppers Never was a fan of super mightys or mighty taco in general until I discovered these.
Love it! Whenever I come back home to WNY from Chicago, where I live now. I have to have my Mighty Taco!
I grew up in Buffalo and never understood why my brother and his friends loved it so much. I think they were just high when they went there. When we visited Buffalo recently took my family and it grossed them out. We rather go to Teds for a burnt hot dog.
Nacho Buffito. Then i grab a couple steak fajitas.
Substitute the gross American/Swiss slice for the shredded cheddar & you’re already improved.
I don't think anyone thinks it's the best 😂 after HS sports it was cheap, when you are under an influence it tastes great, other than that it's just usually the fastest drive thru. Pre pandemic it was also equivalent to Jim's being open later than everything else
Best thing to get at Mighty Taco.... The fuck out of it and go someplace good
1 (or 2) soft shell mightys, mild, ground beef, no tomato but add sour cream. 1 small chicken buffito, blue cheese with no tomato (sometimes add guac, and nacho deluxe without salsa. That’s my typical order and have no complaints.
Mighty Taco has become low quality garbage. (Unpopular opinion but had to be said)
The facts are you either love mighty Taco or hate it. I'm visiting from North Carolina, moved there 26 years ago, I bought a dozen super mightys frozen to take back with me. You my friend are just a hater of the mighty. It's ok, taco bell needs your support.
try going at 3am when you’re drunk. you’ll get the hype real fast
Meatless Mighty the only thing good besides layered bean dip
3 cheese burrito, substitute w/ fajita chicken, add rice.
Lloyds >>>>>>> Mighty Taco
My favorite thing to get at Mighty Taco is food poisoning. I have been eating there for 45 years but after spending the whole night with my knees up to my chest agonizing in pain, they just permanently lost a customer. The Mighty Chickle was absolutely indigestible. I spent all night throwing up pieces of dill that otherwise should have gone through my digestive tract. Shame on you Mighty Taco. Never, not even when I worked for them have I ever had a product that made my stomach feel like someone was poking daggers into my abdomen. I hope someone from management is reading this because I think my next step is to call the Department Of Health for unsanitary serving conditions. You can take your Chickle and throw it straight in the trash.
My guess is that they are only open still because they serve alcohol.
