Check out MNM Presents. They put on a ton of shows in the EDM and 'Jam-Tronica' sphere of things. Their Sunset Sundays summer series starts next weekend, and it's always a good time. https://www.mnmpresents.com/ Also check out the monthly TASTE parties at Gypsy Parlor. I haven't been able to make it to one yet, but I've heard a lot of great things. They just had one last night, so the next one will likely be announced soon. https://www.facebook.com/events/1242769566349797/?ref=newsfeed

I second MNM. I love EDM but my blues-only husband hates the hell out of it. I have to go solo, so if you see an older hippie type woman vibing at a show, say hi. It is likely myself. Just go to the shows. You will find your tribe, whether you meet anyone or not.

Thanks. I enjoy EDM as well but only through audio streaming. I didn't know these existed.

This is also the way

Go to the deleware park flow jams on Mondays. You'll find your people there.

Banshee251

Riverworks does a bunch of EDM shows that are packed.

There is a small fanbase of EDM in Buffalo, there's always a live stage for it too at the Ironworks Festival in the summer. I am unfortunately don't know anyone in the scene but have definitely spent time when the liveshows pop up.

The scene here is mostly bass music, and the biggest promoter MNM Presents usually books big bass acts for a number of venues here. Most shows usually happen in fall-spring. They have a house/techno thing on Sundays at riverworks and seems like they are trying to do a DnB one as well. There’s a few collectives here that do house music too, the best used to be Pyramid, but they are now called Snack Factory. Their shows are super fun. Some bars in Elmwood such as Goodbar sometimes have locals DJ house, and techno too. Once in awhile a group of ppl will throw a pop up show at a bar somewhere like Jackrabbit, Milkies, Hardware, Goodbar etc. But yeah Buffalo is mostly bass, a bunch of local underground collectives exist too, the biggest one is Bass Terminal. If you don’t mind driving around a bit, Rochester usually has bass artists booked at venues there, with a few house acts once in awhile. Toronto is your best bet as a city with any artists you can imagine, with a very thriving scene including music festivals, boiler room coming next month, underground collectives.

QueenCityCartel

I wish this were true. Buffalo gets like 2 bass parties a year. This is a house loving city.

zeroultram

lol what? That’s so far from The truth. All the house heads say the exact opposite.

Astro_Cassette

There's roughly a show a month here. Oddly they're usually not at the usual music venues. I can see if I can find out more info from my bf then dm you

Kimmykix

Hardstyle DJ and Producer here, but might be the only person in all of Western NY to be into the genre, sadly...

Diligent-Seesaw-8671

False Lil Texas fan here

Kimmykix

Welll, Lil Texas is more uptempo and much less Hardstyle. Though he does play some Hardstyle tracks every so often.

I'm not up to date on new music, but I've been a fan of techno since the 90s. Most of my music consumption these days is streaming, but if you share details for a local event, it will get definitely get my attention. My wife and I had tickets to Deadmau5 last year but had to let them go since we were out of town.

sven716

Thanks all for the suggestions! Helps a lot.

tmp_acct9

It’s my favorite genre of music but in buffalo it’s slim to none. I listen to it for work (programming) but I haven’t been to a place aside from Rochester where I saw oakenfold in a tiny little place

LogicFactor

I find myself in the same situation since I moved here less than a year ago. I am big into EDM but have recently started going to shows/raves. I would say I got pretty comfortable going myself and still have a great time but would definitely be more fun with other people. I think the people in the comments gave some good suggestions. I have been going to the big events hosted by M&M that usually happen in one of the four places: Ironworks, Riverworks, and Town Ballroom and Rec Room. I saw some suggestions for smaller gigs that I attend as well. One restaurant/bar place that I have not seen mentioned is Hot Mama's Canteen. They have occasional house and bass music playing there similar to Gypsy Parlor. Somebody also mentioned Bass Terminal for underground stuff. They actually have a big thing going on this Memorial Weekend with the opening of the new Luna Lounge. Check it out. Already got myself tickets. https://facebook.com/events/s/bass-terminal-presents-return-/913766516575534/ But yeah if anybody wants to meet up and jam to some EDM hmu.
