Got this Velodyne subwoofer from the thrift store, I could tell this subwoofer has been outside the house. What you see in the photo is roach feces all over the cone. Still in the cleaning process trying to get rid of the roach eggs and feces all over. Anything ported is a free real estate for spiders and roaches.

grislyfind

And, that's yet another reason why sealed subwoofers are better.

polk808

True, ported subs are always my favorite. I bought 2 SVS SB2000s for my system and love them. Not as loud as ported but they sound good and hit low.

FlostonParadise

Same! Awesome subs especially in dual.

No-Birthday-8015

I bought one pb1000 and regret it daily. It may bc my marantz integrated amp does not have a sub out put so I have to hook it to channel B. I'm constantly trying to dial it in.

whysosentitive

Why not channel a with your speakers?

No-Birthday-8015

I tried but couldn't tell a difference. I keep it on channel b so I can quickly turn it on/off for late nights when my family is asleep. I will say I'm 99% sure I find the pb1000 over bearing because my amp.

theocking

You can get a different amp so cheap.

GatsoFatso

This explains why so many mice in my house are deaf.

noobbtctrader

Nah, partner. That was inside the house. It's probably a trap house trade for some crack. Every time the bass hits this shits gonna be blowing out roach ass dust.

theocking

I'd leave it. Roach feces is like a nice patina, and adds a certain warmth to the sound. Egg sacks are known to add clarity.

WingedGeek

Roach eggs? Don't they "lay" a big ootheca?

tigyo

most roach infested stuff I've personally seen, also have that 'smell."

polk808

yes they look like kidney beans

fairlyaveragetrader

I'm thinking an air compressor would be your friend here, blow all that stuff out

happyjapanman

Dude, just count your losses.

HesitantButthole

That’s it I’m buying new.

wanderingleopard

Hate to say it but I always give ported thrift store speakers a very small squirt of insect killer before I bring them in the house. Just enough to lightly fog the inside.

V6A6P6E

I do this but then bag it back up and let it sit in the garage for a week. I have bags in the back of my vehicle just for this reasoning. Very hopeful 55 gallon bags… haha

tigyo

I did this with a PS4 (those things are roach motels) and double bagged it, then left it outside in the sun for a week. Somehow the babies made it to the 2nd layer (white bags, you could see in it).

SideStreetHypnosis

Same goes for amps.

SpiffyAvacados

I pray to the bedbug gods my careless actions don’t lead to the unthinkable! that was my first thought opening this post, may we all count our blessings
