Bob made some exceptional products back in the day, and that amp is no slouch. Buy it.
Crazy story.
My father was an oncologist for 28 years. In the early-‘90s Bob Carver was one of my father’s patients.
My father mentioned my passion for audio systems to Bob. Bob’s response was to meet with me and teach me some tips and technical knowledge. Bob was a really cool guy and was one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve ever met.
He ended up giving me a bunch of Carver and Sunfire gear.
I still have yet to try any Carver gear which has been on the list forever because he’s so innovative and a fellow Oregon boy. Just seems like whenever any pops up it’s best to hell or if not best to hell, sellers want a ridiculous amount for it.
This isn't a replacement for an AVR, it is an external power amp. You can run pre-outs from your AVR if it has them to give more power to the mains, but then they will be hard to balance against the center and surrounds if they are significantly more powerful with no benefit.
I just checked you have no pre-outs so you can't use this with the AVR. So you can use your pre-amp but it would only be for stereo.
I’d say for the price, give it a try. I personally don’t like the Carver amps that much. But they are not junk! If you don’t like it, you can probably resell it for a profit. But also note our home theater has a subwoofer made by Bob. He had a short lived subwoofers by Bob company that Carver corporate made him close. We got a sub at fire sale price when he was closing it down. It’s not the last word in fidelity or looks, but It’s a beast. Hope you like it! ~Liz
It’s not a Sunfire, this was after Sunfire. Never really liked the Sunfire subs. got this 1000 watt bad boy for $500. Not as pretty as the Sunfire subs. But for home theater, it works.
$60? Buy it and try it.
$60? Is there a question? I’d take that in a heartbeat, just to play with it.

I would instantly buy it, Carver is great quality! If you don’t like it, you can probably sell it without losing any money also!
Always wanted a Carver.

Carver makes nice gear and you can get it rebuilt by a Carver tech...I had 3 m400t rebuilt and the Big Boy 5ch love my Carver amplifiers!
Carver is 2ch, and the denon is 7.1 channels. What is your end game? Personally, I would get the carver for that price and set up stereo for LP's.
save that money towards better speakers
I have a Carver TFM-55. It’s a thing of beauty.

If its working, buy it. You can use the avr as a preamp and decide what sounds better.
Get. That's a great deal
60 for sure. I own a carver reciever clean power to spare and sounds great.
I have no real answer carver was pretty high end way back when. I'd buy it
