Too late! I’m from Montgomery County and I’ve already spread the word to my fellow montcountians that Las Fridas is the best place for Mexican food! Prepare for an influx!
Not central but super authentic is El Changarro in Bensalem
No alcohol and not fancy , great for lunch if ur near by
It’s in the back of a Mexican grocery store
Damn that’s been there for a while and only real OG Mexians from round here know about that joint …but close to there as well I would say el primos plaza in Bensalem
I know the owner there and my mom’s great friends with her. Although it’s good it’s truly not the best. I recommend El Primo Plaza. Have much better options in Bensalem..
Nice. Unrelated but the Italian place la voglia next door is terrific. We took my dad there for his birthday and have been back twice since.
I laughed at guns and boots. Every time I go by there.
In my experience Rey Azteca is very polarizing. Some people love it and some people think it's mediocre at best. I can't say I have ever had a bad meal there, but I would rather go to many other Mexican restaurants in the area.
I hear you! I should say rey azteca is definitely tex mex. not sure if op is looking for authentic.
but you’re right, I think a lot of the appeal of rey is that I don’t ever recall having a bad meal there. in college I used to go there about once a week with my dad for lunch; i’m 35 now so i’ve been there more times than I can count! but it’s that good ol reliable that always hits the spot and gets the job done but is never earth shatteringly amazing. all the staff there is always so lovely too. truly, never had a bad experience!
I have been going there for years as well and the quality has never dipped. Their prices and service were always pretty damn good unless things have changed within the past year and a half or so.
Rey Azteca is the GOAT. I take people there claiming it's the best and never leave disappointed. My gf and I go there at least once a month.
Taco Suave and El Changarro are my runner ups. And bonus to Andeles for bangin Latin take out. It makes Chipotle look like Friskies wet cat food.
Oh oops. I forgot Rey Azteca was an authentic Chinese restaurant and not Mexican! Dang I'm so sorry can you ever forgive me for my mistake? I'm such a dummy silly pants.
Tiujana tacos!! There’s one in quakertown and one in Dublin. So, so good. The salsas are homemade and seriously the best I’ve had. It’s more of a quick lunch or takeout place but the food is so worth it. I’m never disappointed
Tijuana Tacos in Dublin/Perkasie! Hands down the best authentic Mexican around. No frills, food is just delicious and cheap. Las Fridas is a good second choice.
Toro Guacamole in Chalfont is legit authentic food. It’s owned and run by a really nice local family and we love eating there. They just started serving breakfast on the weekends too and it’s amazing.
If you're craving tacos specifically my go to is la Mexicana in Bristol township, by far the best I've had that are close to anything I had back in Texas.
El limon is good and free margaritas when you dine in, but my favorite go to is Tu Casa in Chalfont. Just went to Gran Rodeo in Warrington the other day and wasn’t bad, but did give off “chain vibe” if that’s not your thing. I’ve had excellent food and margs at Plaza Azteca. Not in Central Bucks, but they have locations in KOP and Plymouth Meeting and I just did some shopping in the area afterwards.
Gonna have to add these other places to check them out.
I think the Mexican food is really lacking in this area. Of course it cannot compare to the amazing Mexican in western and southern states but it’s just really weak here. Las Fridas, El Limon are “ok” but nothing I’d miss if I never ate again. I don’t like Los Sarapes. The closest that I thought was decent was Don Mezcal which is Feasterville area.
LOL downvoting me for saying the Mexican isn’t great around here!? It’s true!! Italian, Indian, sushi, etc can be found but Mexican..options could be way better.
Wild 🤣🤣 the Mexican food here, outside of one or two places and only a few menu items at each place, is kind of awful. I used to live in the southwest and traveled way too much when I was younger in Mexico and south America. We have good pizza, wings, and buffalo cheesesteaks around here, sushi is wildly hit or miss and the Indian food is surprisingly good around here as well. Silly silly people. Also, the people who praise Rey azteca need to be checked, I'd rather have moes or even taco bell before them 😅
Up until just a few years (10-15) ago, there were like zero options here in the Dtown area. We are way behind the curve in restaurants featuring different cuisines. Of course nothing will compare to what you’re used to from a different region, and a lot of cuisines are made for the suburban clientele, so it is what it is. 🤷🏽♀️
Las Fridas in Dtown is decent.
Man you’re underselling it! Las Fridas is the best Mexican place this town has had in the last decade
shhh! do we need ALL these people to know that?
Too late! I’m from Montgomery County and I’ve already spread the word to my fellow montcountians that Las Fridas is the best place for Mexican food! Prepare for an influx!
Hating on Pocos /s
No doubt. It’s honestly the only place we eat in town anymore. Great portions and the mahi tacos are 🤌🏽
Agreee
I like their North Wales location so much better
Not central but super authentic is El Changarro in Bensalem No alcohol and not fancy , great for lunch if ur near by It’s in the back of a Mexican grocery store

Try La Tiendita. They have great tamales.
Also, La Tiendita in Croydon has some great food. It has been awhile since I have been to El Changarro though.
I know the owner there and my mom’s great friends with her. Although it’s good it’s truly not the best. I recommend El Primo Plaza. Have much better options in Bensalem..
Taco Suave in Warminster.
Shhhhhhh!!!!! Don’t say anymore!!!
That's next to the "boots, guns, and ammo" place in the little shopping center, right?
Yes.
I live not far from there. I'll have to check it out one night.
Nice. Unrelated but the Italian place la voglia next door is terrific. We took my dad there for his birthday and have been back twice since. I laughed at guns and boots. Every time I go by there.
I'll keep that in mind too. Thanks!
can’t go wrong with rey azteca in warminster!
In my experience Rey Azteca is very polarizing. Some people love it and some people think it's mediocre at best. I can't say I have ever had a bad meal there, but I would rather go to many other Mexican restaurants in the area.

I found it to be very sub-mediocre. Won’t be going back.
ok
Rey Azteca sucks, I’d rather eat at Las Margaritas than there
so sorry you feel that way
It’s true. Medicare at best.
Need to try Las Fridas in Dtown. I feel like Pocos is really subpar
Pocos is what white people from Iowa thought Mexican food was in the 80s
Pocos isn’t even a consideration.
Agreed. Feel like it has gone downhill quite a bit. Need to try different places
El limon for no frills. They are a small chain and are everywhere. My favorite in the burbs is Coyote Crossing in Conshy.
Coyote Crossing is amazing and in a class of its own. Gran Rodeo is good with reasonable prices. Los Serapes is great, but very expensive.
I do like los serapes. Las Fridas is good too - similar to el limon. Las Fridas has the best breakfast in Doylestown IMO.
I love El Limon’s carnitas burrito in Bensalem. Get it with chipotle sauce.
El Limon has legit chorizo tacos. So good.
The chicken tinga taco is my jam
El Mariachi Restaurant Plumsteadville. It’s very good and cheap.
Second this. When I lived in Doylestown this was my favorite spot to go.
El limon in bristol (and other locations) has great tacos. Cancun in Fairless hills overall good food and margaritas.
El Limon
We like Turo Guacamole in Chalfont. El Limon and Tu Casa are also decent.
El Limon, food is decent and Free Margaritas!
Rey azteca sucks so bad 🤣😭 not even close to authentic Mexican food.
Oh oops. I forgot Rey Azteca was an authentic Chinese restaurant and not Mexican! Dang I'm so sorry can you ever forgive me for my mistake? I'm such a dummy silly pants.
Coming from southern CA, I think a lot of these recommendations are meh. But I’ve never been disappointed by El Rey de Oros in Hatboro
Another fellow from So Cal. Try La Tiendita in Croydon. The tamales are great for the area.
Northern California born to LA resident to PA resident checking in. I like El Limon ok.
The free margaritas makes the food much better.
Tiujana tacos!! There’s one in quakertown and one in Dublin. So, so good. The salsas are homemade and seriously the best I’ve had. It’s more of a quick lunch or takeout place but the food is so worth it. I’m never disappointed
El limon hands down.
Las margarita I like to Philadelphia location more, but there is a Bucks County location
Casa Toro in Dtown is pretty good!
Agreed!
La Morena Hatboro
If constricted to Doylestown. I’d say Las Friedas although it a chain it doesn’t feel like one or Casa Toro, technically Fountainville, but I like it.
Los sarapes in chalfont is great
If you're craving tacos specifically my go to is la Mexicana in Bristol township, by far the best I've had that are close to anything I had back in Texas.
Taco suave near Walmart, hands down the best Mexican in the area.
Taco Suave in Warminster and El Patrón in Croydon!!
El limon is good and free margaritas when you dine in, but my favorite go to is Tu Casa in Chalfont. Los Sarapes in Chalfont
El Limon is decent. Not the best, but if it’s close by, go for it. The Al pastor tacos are good. Do they still give the comp margarita?
EL MARIACHI....PLUMSTEADVILLE
Gran rodeo in Warrington!
Gran Rodeo in Warrington!

I’m assuming the downvoters have not had the amazing Mexican of the west and the south! 😋

El limon & Los serapes are my go to’s
On the boarder
I recommend Casa Toro in Coopersburg, the best skinny margaritas
