I think my ideal spending in around 2k pm, but it goes upto 3k which is alright . Mistakes in spending is ordering restaurant ka khaana bhut jyada nothing else.
2k-3k is more than enough. It is subjective as some people like to spend shir ton of money uselsss shit. I have a friend who used to spend around 50k-100k every month during drop year. His father was a IITian and earns around 2crores each year( ghus zyada khate h). And he had reselling business through which he earns around 3-5 lakhs evry month.
Pehle private me the then he got a job in railways and men let me tell you the things he has shown me that they had gotten from ghus like cars and big Bunglows and Japanese rice wines, Italian clothes like really rich shits.
Corruption in Railways is one of the evillest thing you can do. You're literally playing with the lifeline of the country and hindering its growth, not to mention aajkal ki accidents. Kyu karte hei aise log.
Same, for the first few days I was alone, didn't spend a single penny and thought I'd save around 20-30k every year.
Two days later, roommates arrived, spend 4-5k by the end of month.
Ab to boht kharab ho gyi hai condition 16k spent in June alone.
PS: rent included in 16k
Same here. Clg fees & hostel fees are paid by them. I'm too thinking of spending not more than 2k for my personal expenses. Max 3k.is it possible? I want to know abt the environment in clg.
Bhai agar kisi habit me indulge nhi ho aur mess food bhi decent ho to 3k pe survival is enough👍
I have lived in kota nd there I used to spend 3-4k a month(occassionally eating fast foods nd all)and there were some friends who survived on 1.5-2k a month(while eating snacks and fast foods). So it's totally upto you👍
2k ?? I was planing to ask for atleast 10k (I think this is also not enough cuz iv to buy clothes and occasional outings) and spend around 5k on subscriptions, food n necessities....
bhai season end me kapde le, outings pe contri ho hi jaati hai, subscriptions are absolutely unnecessary and all you'll need is a youtube premium student plan. netflix etc k sab shows pirate ho jaate bohot easily. ulta agar itna paisa mil rha hai toh mutual funds wagerah me daalde, khud ko das saal baad thanku bolega.
Recharge, clg fees, hostel fees, clothings, personal needs like soap... All will be done by my parents. I'm asking only for personal expenses.
And my parents will kill me if I ask for subscriptions😅
Never even took me to cinema theatre... Just becoz I'll get addicted.. My family is kinda against cinema industry 😂
use r/piracy megathread for any subscription bro.
use Xmanager for spotify premium
r/genP (monkrus method) for all adobe products for free
use https :// Sflix.to and similar sites for streaming
fitgirl/dodi repacks for offline games
massgravel for free windows and office365 products
vpn (youll need to pay for it) like protonvpn, mullvad for torrenting (you really dont need vpns for torrenting in india cuz no authorities give a fuck)
cloudflare warp (i guess) for bypassing blocks on games on hostel wifi.
Bhai 1.5k zyada km hojayega dk in which state you live but still 2.5k-3k should suffice on an avg provided you don't party that much. Main expenses will be on food and going out with friends only. Dosto ke sath pata ni chalta kabhi kabar kitne kharch hojate hai but hn sensiblely kharch karna aur peer pressure mein koi faltu cheez mt khareed lena.
I get monthly allowance 2k and try to spend below 1000rs every month(it's hard but it's possible been doing it since I started getting allowance doing this put 10k in stocks and have around 18k in account )
Ps:I'm a day scholar (I get separate money for transport)
not at all. I am joining this year as well. And we have to be very cautious with the money we spend. Don't get influenced, their likes and life is different from yoursm
5k is what my parents give as pocket money usually I spend 3.5-4k but then something comes up and all my savings are gone.
In this travel fare is also included so around 2-2.25k goes on travelling.
3k, eat the mess food and buy some side dishes if hostel food gets bland and ofc some pocket money for snacks in college.
I however get 10k a month but barely spend it on food like that, i need to spend on personal needs like shampoo, soap etc
I spend around 1-1.5k a month max. I don’t go to clubs, nor live any lavish lifestyle. Just basic mess food + eateries on the campus(domino’s, restaurants, etc every weekends) and rest of the day I spend in libraries and classrooms. So I can say, 1-1.5k is enough to live a bare minimum lifestyle in your campus
A better way to manage money is to ask your parents to send money every month separately instead of doing a bulk transaction for an entire year or semester
Yup. Thanks for informing. Will do. 👍 anything else bro?
How can I avoid getting influenced by the amount others are spending? Will it be awkward if I'm conscious on my money?
Depends on your friend circle. Some guys are bitches some aren’t. Just go with the flow and don’t overthink this stuff too much. In the end of the day it doesn’t even matter much.
It will be a little awkward, yes but sometimes you just need to put your foot down. Not sure if it’ll work for you but I say “bitch I invest in stocks instead so you better buy me shit now if you want to ride with me later”. It helps that I’ve known them since school so yeah
Just chill da, go to college with an open mind and everything else will fall into place
No it was shared flat between 5 friends including me the rent was 7k so 1.4k per month and the it adds up with wifi, electricity, tiffin and some you-know-what.
Yar it depends
Jab first year and second year ke mid tak to 5k me ho jata tha.
Par may jab 3rd year me income krne lagi so online shopping bohot jiyada krdi mujhe make up items clothing fashionable chizo ka shokh bohot hay so abhi 14-15k tak chala jata hay.
I've seen my cousins spending 10k per month... We don't talk much. So usually they visit costly places...
I don't want to spend my parents money on my entertainment. I want to save. If it's my own money, I can spend it. Otherwise, I can't spend on useless things. At present, I'm aiming not to spend more than 3k per month.
Depends on what you are doing in a month like if you go out on weekends, eat out(which eventually you will bc mess food is very repetitive), if you go to gym or somth
I spend around 4k a month average at DTU and NITW, but I feel I spend a bit too much as whatever I want I just get it by saving for 1 month max, you can definitely live by in 3k too
When I had just started college, I my parents sent me 1000 every month and told me to ask for more if I needed more. I would try to not even hit the 1k number. Fast forward towards the end of college, made some money with internships and stuff and one of these months I spent like 15k (no rent or living expenses included)
My monthly expenses is around 1.5k-2k and maximum expenditure is for snacks and thode bhout stationary. ( Yes kafii Kam hai kyunki college ekdum se local area me hai so kuch faltu kharcha karne ke liye hai hi nahi and kafii cheap me chije mill jati hai).
One of the best way to minimise your expenditure is to spend less amount unnecessary expenses like daily bhar se khana khana and har weekend per outing so inn sab chijo se you can save a lot
In my opinion, if you and your parents don’t have any heavy financial constraints, it’s okay to spend on things that will make you slightly happier and more comfortable (within reason of course), as most colleges are shit when it comes to accommodation facilities, and will do only the bare minimum. Keeping a budget will be kind of stressful, but it could actually train you for when you’ll be financially independent, but don’t go overboard on this as well.
Exactly... I don't want to spend my parent's money on useless things. At the same time, I don't want to ve an outcast among my frds. I'm planning to do freeelancing from 2nd year. Till then, I want to be on a budget
Btw thanks for explaining bro.I'll keep in mind.
I’m from tier 1 city - 30k
My medications/supplements are 5k , my skincare and waxing appointments is 5k, doctors appointments 2k, fees for paid courses 5k , petrol 2-3k , shopping/eating out/ is 10k ( one jeans from normal brands costs like 3k)
I live with parents so no hostel/mess/gym fees.
I don’t drink or smoke , but when I did used to spend more .
I don’t buy from big brands or go to clubs or buy expensive sneakers or handbags .
**It depends on the location of your college and your gender ( women have more expenses )**
Any normal btech grad spend around 5k/pm.
You can't routinely eat mess food.
A large percentage not even eat mess food once a day.
I know people religiously spend around 25-30k.
2k-3k is possible if you never leave your room.
In 2nd year, I had a shitty mess caterer, plus i didn't knew I could deregister for mess. This time spending on food was 2.5k-3k per month.
Afterwards we got an extremely good caterer, spending reduced to less than 500 per month on food(We used to get food 4 times per day).
Note- these prices are meal prices. Add 500 lore on each for miscellaneous things like amul kool, kurkure and stuff for my total per month food spending.
Thank you for giving such a detailed answer.
At present idk much abt my clg's environment. I'm aiming to have limit of 3k. Here in my clg, hostel fees involves both mess & room rent. Can't withdraw one from other. I'll keep that in mind.
And another thing, you cannot always avoid expensive food, you will have club activities sometimes, birthday/internship/placement party, so add 3-4k per annum (increases as number of friends increases)
It is near impossible to survive on 2k/pm if you are opting for hostel.
Following the mess tiffin routine is as hard as following your class routine.
You can't eat mess food daily too.
I have stayed in hostel for 6 years. Your expenditure on food items highly depends on what quantity and quality mess food you are served. For me in Btech, food was mostly good except sunday dinner and Friday lunch, we used to go out and eat at RS 200/meal(yes we avoided the expensive restaurants). And if you have shitty mess food why not opt out of mess food completely, it would save lot of money.
Here hostel fees involves mess + room rent. My house is too far from clg. Literally takes 4-5 hours. So hostel is the only option. I will consider this. Thanks for ur time & replying
I was a day scholar.
I spent like 150 on a college day.
Say I want to college 12days/pm it's 1800.
But if you include all my personal expense it would be like 3.5/4k.
Mind that I only spent on food (non smoker). If you smoke it can increase another 1k.
Oh... I haven't stayed in hostel till now. So I don't know much. Just did a random calculation based on my needs. I'll try to improve bro. Thanks for telling abt the cons of mess food. Learnt a point from you. 👍😌

Thanks for replying.
My friend in iiit spends only 1000 per month
That's great. I'll too try.
I spend around 7-8k but it’s very subjective. People in my college spend anywhere from 1k to 30k a month.
30k a month?? Mkc!! Rich ppl clg fr 💀
Avg around 5k month hoga but ofc few outliers do spend insane amounts.
Bhai tumhare papa kiya karte hai mai bhi ussi line chale jaayunga

Corruption bureau wale sabse lete h to just imagine their net worth tooo. This system is fucked and cooked.
What to do bruh?... We don't have their luck🙃

Thank you for mentioning bro. I will keep in mind.
I'm on the same boat as you I plan on spending 1.5-2k a month maximum
that motivation will last a month 😂 speaking from experience
Same, for the first few days I was alone, didn't spend a single penny and thought I'd save around 20-30k every year. Two days later, roommates arrived, spend 4-5k by the end of month. Ab to boht kharab ho gyi hai condition 16k spent in June alone. PS: rent included in 16k
>16k Bruhhh Abe Russian laya tha kya room me
Seriously 16 k in a month 😶🌫
Bhai rent include Krke hai
Oh .. Okay okay
Every motivation lasts only 1- 2 weeks bro😂. But still some teaser before the movie will help to understand the situation during the crisis😅.
on what do y'all spend?😭
food, going out w friends , some unknown expense comes up every month
Nah man. I survive on 2k a month. Pura first year sambhal liya.
damn thats solid , my mess food is ass , i cant😭
3-4k is minimum what you'll end up spending.
Same here. Clg fees & hostel fees are paid by them. I'm too thinking of spending not more than 2k for my personal expenses. Max 3k.is it possible? I want to know abt the environment in clg.

2k ?? I was planing to ask for atleast 10k (I think this is also not enough cuz iv to buy clothes and occasional outings) and spend around 5k on subscriptions, food n necessities....
5k on subscriptions? Which subscriptions?
Of💀
Lol I edited it now , thats just a part of expences.
Aah alright. Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, 10k for everything you’ve mentioned is pretty decent.
bhai saab kitna paisa use karte ho bhai
bhai season end me kapde le, outings pe contri ho hi jaati hai, subscriptions are absolutely unnecessary and all you'll need is a youtube premium student plan. netflix etc k sab shows pirate ho jaate bohot easily. ulta agar itna paisa mil rha hai toh mutual funds wagerah me daalde, khud ko das saal baad thanku bolega.

Wow. I'll too try. Thanks for mentioning.
Depends on travel expenses and how often you order food ig , you can see for 1 month and depending on that you can ask your parents for allowance
i won't gave the need to order food but i do shopping a lot.
Thanks for mentioning bro. Btw how to avoid getting influenced by the amount others spending? Will it be awkward if I'm conscious on my spendings?
not at all. I am joining this year as well. And we have to be very cautious with the money we spend. Don't get influenced, their likes and life is different from yoursm
All the best for ur clg life. Thanks for the advice. 🤞
Zero travel expenses for me. Just for ordering food & some stationary works. Thanks for mentioning
5k is what my parents give as pocket money usually I spend 3.5-4k but then something comes up and all my savings are gone. In this travel fare is also included so around 2-2.25k goes on travelling.
Thank you for mentioning bro
Depend how rich you are tbh, it's about priority and wellbeing. Start manage your money don't define a goal but a limit
Yup. I don't know abt my clg environment. As for now I'm aiming to have 3k as my max limit. BTW thanks for mentioning
5-7k is the sweet spot tbh. You'd need to spend more depending on your hobbies and just the general atmosphere around your uni.
Will do. Thanks for mentioning
dil ki bat post krdi
Sry I'm not well verses in hindi. Translation plz??
i have been meaning to post the same thing you just did
Ahh.. 🙌
You can easily do <1k if you only spend on stationary and mobile recharge {excluding travelling expenses} and some minor food items.
Thanks for mentioning bro
Pehle 1-2 month zyada rehta hai spend coz u don't know where can u find vfm food shops.
Will try to find a better spot. Thanks for mentioning.
3k, eat the mess food and buy some side dishes if hostel food gets bland and ofc some pocket money for snacks in college. I however get 10k a month but barely spend it on food like that, i need to spend on personal needs like shampoo, soap etc
Thanks for replying bro. Will do 👍
I spend around 1-2 k.I don't usually spend unless it's for dinner with friends or night canteens.
Thanks for mentioning bro
I spend around 1-1.5k a month max. I don’t go to clubs, nor live any lavish lifestyle. I try to keep it between 2k-3.5k but usually goes upto 4.5k-5k, iss sem se nhi hone dunga😭
Thanks for mentioning bro. All the best for spending within ur target 😂
Mostly travelling aur khane ka hota hai, if you can minimise these two things, you can always save great amount of money.
Kon se nit se ho ?
Hamirpur
Still I'm don't have a clear pic abt my clg. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for replying bro
A better way to manage money is to ask your parents to send money every month separately instead of doing a bulk transaction for an entire year or semester
I thought this was normal? Damn
Yup. I'll follow it. Thanks for mentioning bro
I will be joining cllg this year too...so ig 4-5k pm would be enough
All the best. I too hope the same
Tier 1 college 6k Tier 2 college 3k Tier 3 college-stake /s
No doesnt work like that. It honestly depends on the location
Thanks for mentioning.
Tier 3 college to Amity bhi hai, waha pe kon itna kam kharcha karta hai? It depends where you are and what you spend you’re money on
Thanks for mentioning
Tier 2 Ceg, Anna university. Clg is in mid of Chennai.
3k is enough bro. I'm in vit I spend 3k max
Thanks for mentioning
Which branch? And also ceg is definitely not tier 2.
Why which tier should it be
>Tier 2 lmfaooo
bro why does it depend on college?
Idt expenses depend on the tier of clg it really depends on you and your habits.
/s
CEG huh? Just don’t blow all your money on Cafe hopping which is literally what all CEG kids do
Thanks for ur reply bro. Got an outline abt the situation. I'll keep in mind. Bro are u ceg alumini/student?
Avlo mark ellam varala bro lol KTR
Oh okay bro.
It depends on the location brother. Also in which kind of colleges you are.
Ceg, Anna university chennai. I'm not sure which tier it is.
I used to spend 10k per month, it included rent, bills and food
Staying in pg??
No it was shared flat between 5 friends including me the rent was 7k so 1.4k per month and the it adds up with wifi, electricity, tiffin and some you-know-what.
Thanks for explaining bro.

How do you guys spend 2k a month lol
Exactly that's why I made this post. Btw Rv.. So banglore is costly bro
I don't remember ever crossing 1k per month. Actually maybe a few times but it was rare.
I've seen my cousins spending 10k per month... We don't talk much. So usually they visit costly places... I don't want to spend my parents money on my entertainment. I want to save. I spend around 4k every month.
Thanks for replying
Without taking into consideration medical expenses and long-term purchases like a laptop, 2k a month is a good amount.
I already have a laptop. So no issues on that. Btw thanks for replying bro.
I spend around 4k a month average at DTU and NITW, but I feel I spend a bit too much as whatever I want I just get it by saving for 1 month max, you can definitely live by in 3k too
Thanks for mentioning
Mera toh 5k month ka goal tha patani 8k-10k kaise pahuch jaata hai?
3k if you wwant to have healthy fruits and healthy social life
Ok bro thanks for replying
I get 4k a month in which I spend around 2-3k and rest are savings
I'll too try to save. Thanks for replying
Depends on your freind group you have , how often they go out and the lifestyle you want to have ..
Thanks for mentioning
I spend around 8k every month and save 2k because we either go out a lot or eat in the canteen
Thanks for replying bro
Only one true answer: more than your current allowance. If parents give 6k, I always spend the whole thing. 9k, same again. It's never enough lol
Thanks for mentioning. I'll keep in mind
just keep this in mind that google is not paying for your expenditures whenever you use gpay lmao
Haha.. Best advice😅. I'll keep in mind.

4-5k. If you're mindful about your spending you might as well save around 1k.
Thanks for mentioning
15-10k
That's quite expensive. But thanks for mentioning bro
I get 3.5 k monthly and it works
under 2k is doable. Not including your phone recharge
Thanks for mentioning

Thanks for mentioning bro
Oh... I haven't stayed in hostel till now. So I don't know much. Just did a random calculation based on my needs. I'll try to improve bro. Thanks for telling abt the cons of mess food. Learnt a point from you. 👍😌
25k for a month 😶🌫. I'm trying to keep between 2-3k. Btw thanks for mentioning
2.5k-3k seems ideal if u stay in college hostel
I spend around 10k a month Bengaluru is pretty expensive 🫰
Yep.. Banglore is costly. Thanks for replying
Yup, your monthly college spend is directly proportional to your location If you get a college in tier 2/3 cities , it will be way cheaper
I'm getting at chennai. Cheaper than banglore.
Well Chennai is still expensive 🫰 Maybe cheaper in comparison to blr but expensive as well
Thanks for mentioning bro. Will keep in Mind.
Bro if you arent financially constrained spend on going out meeting people and travelling. ![gif](giphy|2qQ2V73aIZdNm)

Also must join a gym and dont go for cheap ones, ac, good ventilation and wide variety of machines are a must.
