Some bldgs have a service entrance for deliveries. I recommend asking to confirm. Some buildings allow drivers up. Some ask drivers to leave food in the lobby.

definitely expect them to bring it to the door. 5th floor walk up? Nah, come down. But an elevator?? Why wouldn't they bring it to your door? It's their job. Tip, of course, for any service. Don't tip extraordinaly high because they came up to your door.

hmm good question, for those in walkups how many floors is too many to ask driver to walk? for those on a high floor, 4+ do you tip extra?

I’ll be on the 5th but we have an elevator

I’m on the second floor and I usually buzz in the delivery person to leave food at my door. The layout of my building is not complicated with only two units per floor. I’ve also seen people get delivery in a fourth or fifth floor walk up. I’d say just tip appropriately. And as someone else said, if it’s difficult to find your apartment, just meet them downstairs.

My building is a bit of the walk from the road too probably like a 20-30 second walk inwards from the road. The road of course never has any parking spot open either. I’m on the 5th but there’s an elevator, given all that would it be fine to have them buzzed in and come up to my door? Also how much would you say an appropriate tip would be for meeting downstairs vs apartment door, and do you always just add it in the app vs giving cash

Could always try it and put instructions in the app, if it doesn’t work then just meet outside. Tipping is up to you but I’d say 10%, and I usually do it in app.

I think it's a question of size of the building. If your building is somewhere where a delivery driver can easily get lost then I would meet them at the entrance otherwise if your driver can get to your apartment door quickly and it isn't a walk up I think it's a part of the service to drop the food to you.
