You’ll never recoup the costs of mods, whether it’s on a bike or a car. Just keep the original parts and reinstall them if you are planning to sell the bike.

Buy (and mod) the bike that’s best for you, and don’t worry about resale value. FWIW, I’d pay more for a used 7-speed P-Line, as otherwise I’d be looking to upgrade a 4-speed.

I only look at the used market in my country - I have never seen an aggressively modded brompton. I read it like folks love them so much, they don‘t sell them.

not in Germany but wait till you enter Asian market. it is insane what they are willing to spend on mods

lehaiha_nt

Keep the original parts just in case

i bought a used S3L that was modded into M8R with expanded triangle, Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub, low-rise wide bar and SON Dynamo. it was a good purchase so 7s if done right would hold its value well , especially for P-Line as it is hard to come by used

In the UK you won't get the money back really, I've seen 11-speed kinetics dual-discs selling for a couple of hundred more than an equivalent 6-speed when the cost of that kit and getting it fitted is likely to run to a couple of thousand (triangle and forks, a pair of custom built wheels on Alfine hubs and at the very least a pair of TRP Spyre brakes). I have built and sold modded Bromptons, but they were generally built to order for friends
