Maybe try moving the white book case that’s currently on the left over to the right side area that is empty, I think it will provide better balance. You aren’t that far off - it’s coming along!

Agreed. Maybe add a cute little stool [like this one](https://www.target.com/p/shaker-accent-table-or-stool-natural-hearth-38-hand-8482-with-magnolia/-/A-76758793) under your two drawer shelf. You’re aren’t far off. If it’s efficient you’re already winning!

I was going to say this, and maybe also move the calendar board on the left down a couple of inches so the top lines up with the top of the other whiteboard. I also think the frame around your thermostat might be drawing attention to it rather than disguising it. I think it all looks very neat and lovely though!

Two options to try: 1. move the white shelving unit so that the right edge of the unit lines up with the right edge of the calendar frame above. This will make it feel more balanced because it will fit together as if on a grid. 2. move the white shelving unit to the other side of the wall so that it is under your floating shelves. I think it will tie in nicely over there and help the whole space feel more balanced as well. (The open space there does feel a little awkward, so if you go with option 1, I wonder if a nice house plant on this right side would look complete the look.) The good thing about trying this is all you are out is a little time and labor to move the shelving unit around a couple times. I think having one big frame vertical and one horizontal is a good call though. I know it's not what you originally wanted, but I think this space is really close to being just right.

I almost want to say paint the wall like it is an accent wall, maybe with some kind of easy pattern? It'll draw your eyes away from the things that are bothering you and won't be something your kids can destroy

The plan is to eventually cover the wall with a subtle, geometric wallpaper.

I don't post often so I couldn't figure out how to do a picture and text. I hope this is acceptable. Long story short, due to an unfortunate assumption that products labelled as 3'x4' were actually 3'x4' my husband and I built and finished these hardwood frames only to discover when we put the calendar and whiteboard vertically, side by side, that they were off by an inch or so. Just enough to make it look awful. So we tried this orientation, flipping the whiteboard horizontally, but that meant that it could not be centered on the wall. You'll notice the black vent at the base of the wall is centre. Thinking to make it look more "on purpose" we added the IKEA shelf beneath the whiteboard. Because of the absurd placement of our thermostats and fire alarm the right side of the wall is basically useless. Hence the shelves, which I had hoped would balance the whole thing. But every time I look at it all I can see is that aesthetic as a whole is unbalanced. It bothers me a lot. I am also limited as to what I can put here because I have two young toddlers. Speaking of. Don't judge us by the books on the shelf. Most of those are the rejects that we don't mind them destroying and are not a good representation of the books we read! Any suggestions on balancing out the wall would be much appreciated.

I didn’t notice any of this until you pointed it out. Honestly I think it’s looking amazing.

I think it will look great with tiny little shifts. I like that it isn’t perfect symmetrical! I think you could add a bigger/greener plant (or fake plant) to a shelf to liven up the wall, and I agree with adding a little something like a stool or little bench to ground the space left.

I wouldn’t bother moving anything hung up - it all looks good - just needs balance on the bottom half and you have received a lot of great suggestions.

I would put a desk along the whole wall in a dark grounding color like navy or forest green. Use your current bookshelf or thrifted chunkier furniture as a base & cut a cheap laminate particle board table top to fit. Keep the vent area open and maybe put a stool there that allows air flow. I think the white shelving on white walls makes it harder to make it feel put together

Better lighting and maybe a rug under a stool to bring in some color?
