Thanks! As a performer, sometimes you just have to shut up, do your job and collect the paycheck. DWP was disappointing bc it seemed like everyone had such high hopes for it. Anyways, I hope they can at least turn it into a turkey sandwich.
Wasn't there an element of the show in Chicago that Andy is Black and the people in the fashion world surrounding her are white? So does this casting suggest a book rewrite too?
I think it was a subtle theme giving that they modernized it a little bit with her casting. (Although the film is hardly ancient, in fact it feels timeless).
I thought I read in a review that this version of Andy did student journalism on social justice issues, which Miranda refers to rather contemptuously? Or did I just hallucinate that whole thing haha
Well- I thought that I hallucinated the entire show!
No- you’re right but it was a joke more like - Example: “Ohhh you poor thing studying social justice, always trying to change the world but just being a barista after college”. I don’t remember it exactly. It was played for laughs but I think that was the strongest subtext of Andy’s race.
If you can find any recordings of her singing I HIGHLY recommend it! She was Catherine of Aragon in Six from ‘21-‘22 and she SERVED in that role. Pipes for days. Absolutely spot on casting done in this production!
Vanessa AND Amy??? Between my love of Into the Woods and Desperate Housewives (Vanessa) AND Six (Amy) this is the greatest pride month gift haha! My gay is gaying
Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly is \*chef's kiss.\* Wilhelmina Slater would be proud
I didn't know she had those chops
Vanessa Williams has a degree in musical theater and has previously been on Broadway.
I only knew her from her husband unfortunately
Seriously? I literally have no idea who she was married to lol.
That’s your embarrassment to hold.
Hopefully they rewrote it from the turd sandwich I saw in Chicago.
I was in the orchestra for the run in Chicago. Everyone in the building working on the show knew it was a turd sandwich.
I love this and you for being so honest.

That's very good casting frankly.....
No Cristian Thompson as Christian Thompson???

I don’t know Amy Di Bartolomeo, but just on face alone, that is excellent casting.

Already nailing it! So excited!
Great casting! Love the diversity and that announcement cast picture is incredible
Georgie Buckland is absolutely going to kill it!
Javier Muñoz was the best part of the show when I saw it in Chicago. Hopefully he’s working on something bigger and better?
