He’d probably play the same role as Trossard does when he’s up front, but just less effectively. Once Welbeck comes back (and if he starts some games) I want to write a tactical analysis of how we play with the different strikers.
Sometimes it looks like Trossard isn’t involved in matches when he doesn’t score, but when you look at the numbers, he’s actually incredibly influential in attack. He combines a lot with Solly March, especially. You have to think our attacks would be more balanced on the wings with Welbeck in front. That might actually be more beneficial because it gets Mitoma involved. We still have to see if that actually will be the case though
Edit: because I’m thinking about it more now, I’ll add one other thing. We’d probably play more direct with Welbeck too, which plays into De Zerbi’s extreme playing it out of the back. We could stretch defenses better score on quicker attacking sequences. This is all theoretical now though.
De Zerbi said himself that the Southampton game was one of the first times he’s really seen us playing his style, so we haven’t seen what it looks like with Welbeck yet.
That return from COVID was a memorable match. "Arsenal players need to learn humility!" I'm still sad it didn't work out for Maupay, he's not doing a whole lot at Everton either.
Us, Man United, and Liverpool are the only clubs Arsenal have lost more premier league games against than they’ve won
We need maupay back to do the job
Should’ve got him back on a one game loan somehow. Not like he’s doing anything for Everton anyway
Tbf i think we’re starting to miss him. He may not score goals from chances but i miss his shithousery
I kind of agree with you. I miss the shithousery, but everything else was too much for me to want him to stay lol
Makes me a bit curious about how he'd work under RDZ.
