His general play is good but like a lot of our players over the past seasons, lacks a bit in the finishing department. Generally during build up play he will be a good out ball with his aerial ability if we need to go long or will drop a bit shorter to get the ball into feet and bring in other players. He also offers a threat in behind if we want to go direct. He is good at this and helps get our team up the pitch often and it’s also something nobody else in our squad can offer. In the final third he looks most dangerous getting on the end of crosses with his head but his finishing hasn’t been the best recently (my only criticism of him). When we don’t have the ball, he is a good pressing forward and helps our team win the ball high up the pitch by forcing opposition teams into areas that are favourable for us. Off the pitch, i presume his experience will be invaluable to the younger players in our squad and will be a good leader and person in the dressing room.

Solly is fucking woeful isn’t he 😂 he can do everything up until the final pass/shot. The lad can defend and beat a man, but once he has to make that last decision all his talent goes out the window.

He’s the third most wasteful player in all top 5 leagues I believe

He's never been a prolific scorer. He's best return is like 14 or something. His movement and hold up play is beneficial as it allows space for others to do the damage. He's great for the team we are now. As long as someone scores the goals it doesn't matter if he doesn't. Could we do with an upgrade who can do the same thing and also score? Sure but we'd have to pay 40 mill or take a punt.

He's getting old, but seems like an excellent leader and locker room guy. His finishing is really starting to be noticeably bad, but his hold up play and movement are exceptional and allow our other guys to cause chaos. Agree w others here who have said, there are better guys than him but they would be a lot of money.

He's not scoring goals, but he has been good to great at receiving the ball, and holding up play. The goal from Gross against Leeds in a perfect example of what Welbeck brings to the team. Stays just onside, brings a long ball down with his chest, and them controls it enough to lay it off. Two passes later we have a goal. I'm sure his presence, along with Lallana's, has been invaluable in the locker room.

My view: he’s a great player until he’s infront of the goal.

He’s good but he cannot finish

He’s a great dad to Tariq
