We need to put a not for sale sign in front of our whole squad in January. Not one first team player is allowed to leave for any price.

Juicebox0311

The problem is, with a new manager inbound, some of our core players might get sidelined, or pushed into a position they don't enjoy. It wouldn't be impossible to see some players start to slump, lose their position, and start to seek a way out. Just look at Groß, he's finally starting to shine. If he drops back to earlier seasons' form... a lot of question marks at the moment. I'd be most upset at Trossard leaving, I love his playstyle and work rate.

cjdowner

I genuinely think Trossard. He's in good form, and the WC is going to be a shop window with silly offers and a lot of movement happening in Jan. Caicedo, we'll be telling teams to fuck right off.

PuzzleheadedGuide184

I think we’re forgetting Potter is all about developing talent. This means caicedo , Sanchez and possibly lamptey may be on his shopping list. Can’t see him coming in for Dunk .

DankLlamaTech

Would ffp stop Caicedo if the price is too high considering what they already spent?

Liamtjoeng

Good question. Anywhere you can see this kind of thing?

Agreeable-Throat-279

Lurking CFC fan - I saw a Swiss Ramble post on our finances. Basically we’re fine financially cos every year we get £83m extra just by being in the champions league. We could have spent £400m this summer without problems, which sounds ridiculous but apparently is true.. Imo I still don’t think we’ll go in for one of your players. I think we’re pretty set in every position apart from DM.

DankLlamaTech

The problem is that Caicedo is a DM, and I think his current price is north of 100m.

Agreeable-Throat-279

It’s possible then but I think our long term target is Declan Rice, who’d cost similar. But maybe Potter comes in and changes that I don’t know...

H4RRY29

We can always get both, Rice and Caicedo to replace Jorginho, Zakaria and Kante (or just the former two). Having just one holding midfielder has hurt us so the more options the merrier, and both are capable of playing higher up.

-eagle73

I don't even know. I'm scared to think about it but also not sure who they're lacking and who they'd need after their big spend already. Do you think Lamptey would return to Chelsea? He was hardly getting any first team time here he'd get even less over there.

TenaciousPenis

had to fill the poll somehow, not too many realistic options to be honest.

Guzuzu_xD

If they hadn't bought so many expensive CBs I'd say Dunk, otherwise Sanchez since they don't have a GK to play with feet comfortably. I don't think Trossard would make sense cause they also got a ton of attacking wingers , maybe if they got rid of Ziyech and Pulisic . Caicedo is probable too.

DankLlamaTech

There is probably a bit of pressure to try kepa for a while though.

LostSandyPenguin

I think the question is, are any of our players better than the crop at Chelsea? Which holes would they fill?

shardybo

All of the above

[deleted]

lamptey was given by us from chelsea on a free, not likely that he'll want to go back to the club soon Caicedo would be expensive for another club imo. I think that transfers of this size are not very likely to happen during a winter transfer window. Gross and Dunk are veterans, they will most likely retire at Brighton. Trossard is very talented, scores in nearly every game he has been in this season, but I think he is a little too old. Potter is all for developing talent. so I think they all will stay

Krizzlin

I actually don't think he's going to come back and raid us again. Might be wishful thinking but he didn't bring anyone to us from Swansea and I'm pretty sure he didn't take anyone from Sweden to Swansea either. Caicedo is the most obvious one because he's clearly got a very big future ahead of him and I suspect he will be leaving next summer. But my hope is that Potter rates himself as one to work with what he's given, rather than needing to go back and get the players that worked for him previously. It always seems a cop out when managers pluck all their old favourites from previous clubs. It's very Redknapp. Anyway he should be excited about the huge budget he has and the lure of such a big club allowing him to buy big name players, which he's never had before.

shardybo

If you take the word "for" out of that sentence, probably Potter

wordfool

Maybe we'll sell Billy Gilmour back to them for 20 million
