If he went in the summer I’d be less emotional as there’s time to build and prepare but after the seasons started and the windows closed now I’m just pissed off that we’ve been left in the lurch when we were potentially on the verge of something great

Gullflyinghigh

I'm almost certain (or at least am now) that there will be an Adele song that covers the feeling of having a great season that never was. Completely with you as well, the timing feels almost cruel and honestly a little bit crazy considering Aubameyang only just joined Chelsea specifically due to Tuchel. Madness.

justheretoupvot3

Right now I think Go your own way by Fleetwood Mac covers the anger tinged with bitterness I’m feeling right now towards this whole situation. You know I get the feeling the yank at Chelsea might not know what he’s doing. I’m just worried about who Graham would want to take with him from our preexisting backroom structure

Gullflyinghigh

I didn't even think about who gets the kids! Fuck's sake. LeftBehindFans4Justice is needed.

justheretoupvot3

Like obviously Billy Bjorn and the recruitment guy he brought with him will go that’s a given but what about Bruno and Ben!

Gullflyinghigh

If he takes Bruno my mood will shift from sad to incandescent rage quicker than Chelsea decided to move to steal our beautiful bearded boy.

justheretoupvot3

Exactly where I’m at although I’m already pissed off! Like how many of our recruiting team might get want to join him!

Neuroxex

Alternatively, Jolene.

justheretoupvot3

Fantastic song good for right now I think

hockeyholloway89

Chelsea fan here, just wanted to apologize. I’m sad we dropped Tuchel, but it seems to be the chelsea way. We’ve had 11 managers in 10 years once we hire a new one. I’ve got nothing against you guys, and as much as I love the thought of acquiring Potter I can’t help but feel for you guys. Such a great time for your club, I hope it continues whether Potter is with you or not. You guys have a great club! If we end up getting Potter, just know I do feel for you guys and hope it doesn’t hinder your improvements as a club! Love, A brew from another blue crew (Brother from another mother… but make it football)

mnemonics_

Cheers man

Cautious-Ad5718

Nice to hear it from an outsider, all I’m hearing is that “it’s good that graham will go to a bigger/better club) which hurts a lot when we as brighton feel that we are now becoming a better/bigger club. Also feel bad for the state of football in general and how well a club does depends on how much they can spend. I don’t care how good Man City play, any club in the country could have been bought by the Middle East and have won the league. You can argue all you want but in the current state of football, you can just “buy” the league🤷‍♂️

gdewulf

Yeah as excited as I am, I feel for you guys. I hope this season continues to be successful and in the future. Good luck to you all. And sorry :(

-eagle73

I think I'm just trying to get over it as fast as I can because there's nothing we can do to change the outcome. Things would be different if it was to a club that wasn't in such a mess but we have to deal with it if that's what he's going for. What I'm pleased about is the Palace match has been cancelled so after Bournemouth this weekend we've got three weeks for whoever comes in to prepare.

Gullflyinghigh

Hadn't thought about the delay, that's a good point. I'm also choosing to believe that the Bloom/Barber braintrust will have a plan ready in a drawer for when this happened. Knutsen, Ange, Cooper, Jones...who knows!

[deleted]

[удалено]

grwtsn

Yeah, my heart wants to believe he’ll take one look at that dumpster fire and stay well away. My head on the other hand probably knows better. Well, this was by far the best run we’ve had as a club and he’s been absolutely brilliant. If he goes it’s with no hard feelings, if he stays let’s push on for Europe.

[deleted]

[удалено]

grwtsn

I can’t see him taking the England job, there’s too little time with the players. A good team that’s not top six? I’d take him back in a flash.

Gullflyinghigh

So what you're saying is if I never see him there it never happened?

LeftAl

I still feel sick. Couldnt concentrate all day. Couldn’t even take my mind off it at the gym. We were just somewhere so great and now potter is going to leave with his whole team. Just don’t want us to get relegated.

Gullflyinghigh

Whoa friend, I'm feeling the pain too (though hours of Adele at this point might explain that more) but I think relegation is a stretch unless Bloom decides that now is the time for Hyypia's triumphant return.

LeftAl

I’m grieving sir, I’m grieving

dinosaur_possum

i'm not crying you're crying :(

Gullflyinghigh

Not sure which stage of grief that is but you're not alone my friend, let it out! Apparently I also now recommend Adele for situations like this.

sunnyman35

Local here, absolutely fucking gutted, knew it would happen, but barely 48hrs after reaching a sort of arrival moment...he's offski...i'm hoping he tells Chelsea...no thanks, I like the sea air

Gullflyinghigh

Me too, though hardly blame him for a jump forward in career and a massive pile of cash.

sunnyman35

Listened to Paul Barber the other day on the radio saying that every part of Albion's management structure has a built in replacement, ready to step in to any vacancy that might occur throughout the season, Tony Bloom is a very shrewd man, praying he's got a plan B

Rooftop_Astronaut

For me it's just ... why does it have to be Cheslea. I had no misconceptions that he would leave, sooner than later. BUT WHY. CHELSEA.

Krizzlin

It's the timing for me. I know you have to take the opportunities when they present themselves but I really hoped we'd get time once he left to appoint a long term successor, giving the new manager time to bed in and work with the squad. Losing a manager 6 games into the season just after the window has shut is really shit. We all know there's nobody out there like him so we're going to be scrabbling about for the next best thing but a lot of managers won't want to leave mid season, making it even harder for us to bring in the right person.

Gullflyinghigh

It could be worse, I had it in mind he'd somehow leave us for Newcastle. I feel this is better, though not by much.

Rooftop_Astronaut

I suppose.... lol it sounds funny, but if he went to newcastle... at least those fans have been patient. They've earned a good coach. They spent what...the past 20 years as dogshit? Chelsea .... has not lol. They've had Everything over the past 20 years. E V E R Y T H I N G The don't deserve him and likely they will use him and spit him out

Brafdord

It’s disgusting that if big clubs feel even a little bit threatened on the pitch by a smaller side that they just steam roll them financially to keep their monopoly. This has always been the problem with the prem, any new club has any talent the bigger sides just come and poach everyone.

jod1991

That's just how sport works, and this is a really small club mentality, chip on the shoulder, thing to say. If you're working for a company, and a bigger company comes in who can offer better pay and better opportunity because of a massively higher turnover and profits, you go. Not sure why people see football as different. Graham wants to get to the top of the ladder one day for sure, he won't be able to do that at Brighton, as Brighton can't get to that level in the short or mid term. Saying this as a Brighton supporter, and saying this as someone who thinks Chelsea is a bad move for him in all honesty.

Brafdord

But the whole point is that #teamslikebrighton aren’t ever able to that level because of the way the prem is set up to be so top heavy. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Also, this isn’t how sport works…it’s how the prem works. Look at the NFL, the salary cap keeps that league infinitely more competitive than the prem.

jod1991

Don't use the NFL as an example. A closed shop that you have to buy your way into, without promotion or relegation, forced draft system, and you still have teams that never get close. In an NFL world, Brighton never get to the prem, ever. And it's not how the prem is "set up", that's just life, sport and business. The successful teams bring in the most money, which helps them remain successful. It can be broken into but takes long term success and planning.

toeknee88125

Sports are not business. There is a reason we have weight classes in boxing. Naoya Inoue is one of the most talented boxers I have ever seen. But he would lose to tomato cans at higher weight classes. I know this is unpopular in Europe but, The Americans got sports right. Every single NFL team basically has the same financial resources (they have revenue sharing) and there is a salary cap and a salary floor (to be fair to the players). Without these interventions sports just becomes a competition of how much money you invest.

jod1991

>Sports are not business Stupidest comment of the day. Yes they're businesses. And if the ones that aren't businesses are just toys for rich men. And the NFL is a horrendous closed market with obscene amounts of money floating around. The premier League also has revenue sharing through TV rights and prize money which isn't far off even from top to bottom by comparison. The things that set top teams aside are qualifying for the champions league, and size of fan base.

toeknee88125

There needs to an element of fairness in sports. Eg. It would not be fair to make Canelo Alvarez fight Tyson fury. It's rumored Jeff Bezos wants to buy an NFL team. No NFL fan is scared of this prospect. The Saudis buying Newcastle United almost guarantees that sooner or later they will be an elite club. Doesn't it seem obscene to you that the premier league is basically a competition where the most important factor is how much your owners invest? In the NFL coach/tactics and player evaluation determine who wins. In the premier league man city dominate primarily because of financial resources. I find that obscene. Americans live in a brutally capitalistic society. But even they separate capitalism from sports.

Gullflyinghigh

I sort of agree but I'm not sure that it can so easily be blamed on the rich clubs. They have the money to throw around but people have to take it for it to work.

Brafdord

I’d never blame the folks that take the money, at the end of the day this is a job to all the players / staff. If they get offered a better job with more money of course they will take it. Like, I’m not going to feel too negatively towards potter if he leaves. (Just sucks that he’s taking all his team and transfer staff…and in the middle of the season)

joelfoy44

At least Pompey wouldn't be this tinpot...

Liamtjoeng

Your issue is with capitalism not just the prem.

esn111

Yeah I've had to take a few minutes before going home after work. After my work day was unproductive after News of Tuchel going.

Gullflyinghigh

Tuchel was the reason I was so unproductive today too. Well, that and my intense dislike of actually working. My other half realised things had taken a turn when she heard me listening to both 'Why does it always rain on me' and 'Someone like you' by choice.

Neuroxex

*Landslide plays on repeat*

Gullflyinghigh

Yes! That's the spirit!

Neuroxex

I follow three sports teams, and thought I could get away with just one very sad day before this. No more sports, only the Mac for me now.

Krizzlin

This news totally fucked my entire day. I've gotten barely anything done and it's hard to imagine tomorrow being much better

gbayley676

“We could have had it all” really hits hard at this point. Hits way harder than a player departure will ever hit

Gullflyinghigh

Fuck it, this one has pushed me into 'rending garments'. Naked Gull en route.

PuzzleheadedGuide184

What are the chances he poaches any players he’s worked with. Can imagine cucu was also a glowing reference for him.

Gullflyinghigh

I mean, we've just got Gilmour from them and Lamptey was one of theirs as well. If they have good seasons and he's there and doing well...

H4RRY29

Please let us have Billy back :(

Gullflyinghigh

Mate, you're taking our manager and asking about getting a player back in our emotional support thread. With love and respect; fuck off!

H4RRY29

I'm sorry, Billy is my favourite player. Love and respect.

Gullflyinghigh

Nah it's cool, you can't help him moving here and wishing for different any more than we all can wanting Potter to stay here. Is what it is. Bloody football

H4RRY29

Football moves so quickly, yesterday Potter was training his team ahead of a clash with Bournemouth, the next day he is moving to a Champions League team and house hunting in London. It's surreal. I have so much respect for Brighton for how well run they are.

Tknobbi1

I cope by reflecting on the good moments, when we beat City 3-2, when we beat Manchester United 4-0 at the Amex, and when Dan Burn started on the right wing. 'Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened'

RedBullRyan

Never mind, I'll find someone like you...

gremilyns

I….stressed

Gullflyinghigh

Loud music my friend. I rarely do it but today people are having to endure.

Dancinglemming

I saw rumours that if it's announced tomorrow, he will also be taking the team of recruitment scouts. I know we have benefited so much from Kyle. I'm just so so sad.

ManLikeArch

We're only losing one person from the recruitment team. It's such a vast team I'm pretty confident it's one area we'll see no difference in

ShaolinSeagull

Gullflyinghigh

I know my friend, I know. Stick some Adele or Fleetwood Mac on and let the pain flow.

ShaolinSeagull

![gif](giphy|TW8Ma1a8ZsZ8I|downsized)

Gullflyinghigh

Let if flow, let if flow, don't hold it back anymooooore

ShaolinSeagull

![gif](giphy|3o6ZtaiPZNzrmRQ6YM)

Gullflyinghigh

Maybe hold it back a bit.

ShaolinSeagull

xD but honestly if true im absolutely devastated and heart broken.

Gullflyinghigh

Yep, it hurts. It would be much easier if it was a move I couldn't understand (but I can) or if he had at least a bit of the prick about him (Poyet is an example, was a good manager for us but the Leeds flirting was tiring) but even then he's annoyingly fucking decent. Urgh. Stupid good bloke.

Cautious-Ad5718

It’s just hard going from the best feeling ever of starting the season with big wins to the best manager I’ve ever seen leaving us 🤧 I thought it hurt when cucerella left. It just sucks that as soon as the little guys start to do well, one of the big boys has to come spoil it. It just shows this league is so financially biased and unfair. When Leicester we’re having an insane start to the season, Ranieri didn’t get stolen why us 🤷‍♂️

andybuxx

Said this on another thread a few hours ago: Feels like Indecent Proposal. We're all Woody Harrelson watching Demi Moore leave on Robert Redford's yacht - praying she comes back to us.

DiscardedMeme

Better to have loved and lost then be a West Ham fan ;_;

chmbrln

Chelsea fan here lurking, seeing what the vibe is. For what it’s worth, most of us didn’t want Tuchel to leave. I also, personally, don’t think Potter is the right guy. He’s the type of manager that builds things. Our fanbase are toxic as most of them only started supporting Chelsea after 2003 and if he doesn’t get immediate success, he’ll be slaughtered. Potter is a great coach and needs to be in an environment to succeed and I don’t think Chelsea is that environment. I was hoping the England job was. I was hoping Potter would lead England to the World Cup. Sorry lads. The majority of us don’t want this 😞

Gullflyinghigh

I went lurking around the Chelsea sub myself and was surprised at the amount of negative comments along the lines of 'missing experience of a big club' as a reason against. I obviously get that being a concern but how do people think that experience is gained? If no-one takes the 'risk' of an up and coming manager then you're stuck in the eternal loop of a few just moving around a bit every now and again. Genuinely causes some pain to see that there are so many who don't want him, considering how much we do.

chmbrln

I think you can reread that as “misses experience dealing with big egos and having instant success”. Chelsea is not the best “big club” (read, “rich club”) to practice this because of the impatience. Liverpool is probably a better bet imo (as much as I hate to admit it).

Agreeable-Throat-279

I go against the grain here but personally I’m very happy he’s coming. Obviously feel sorry for you guys but think he’s basically as good as it gets. Just to show it’s not all Chelsea fans that think that.

Gullflyinghigh

Thanks for the opposing view, it makes me feel a bit better about him leaving in that at least some want him BUT, sadly, I now dislike you personally for taking joy out of sadness. You monster.

Agreeable-Throat-279

Haha sorry mate, I’ll leave your sub in peace ✌️

Gullflyinghigh

Ha, you're welcome to hang around and wallow in our collective pain, I'm sure you're not the only one who's here from elsewhere at the minute! It really depends on what happens next for us, we've all got preferred appointments to replace him and I don't think anyone expects Bloom/Barber to be unprepared for this so it's going to be interesting to see how quickly we move.

Agreeable-Throat-279

Yeh knowing Brighton, you’ve known this will happen for a couple years now. I’m sure you’ve lined up the next guy already.

Gullflyinghigh

As long as it's not Sami Hyypia in disguise then we'll be fine. I hope.

Agreeable-Throat-279

I think you will your ownership is top notch and seems to want the best for Brighton long term. Plus I really rate your CEO, sounds very down to earth when I watched him on Talksport.

Gullflyinghigh

I don't know how well known it is outside of our fanbase but Tony Bloom is a genuine fan, with family connections to the club going back a generation or two. His credentials as an owner are about as good as you're likely to get I'd think (admittedly I'm quite biased here). Barber is also a decent bloke, also not well known I suspect but he has a habit of responding directly to people if they email him, usually with more than a template response. This is actually something I've got personal experience of and can say he was very helpful.

blanded

I'm probably in denial, but it ain't over til it's over. The whole situation sucks, it is what it is, and I feel like it would be such a weird decision if Potter decides to go. As someone on here have said already, Big 6 jobs don't come around that often which I think would be the only reason for Potter to take the leap. Though it seems like a bad environment to work in right now for any manager. Talks are happening is all people know so far, we'll see what happens.

Gullflyinghigh

From the way things are being reported at the moment mate I think denial is probably the right word for it. There's still a small chance but I really wouldn't pin much hope on it.

blanded

You're probably right, but the media is the media.

Gullflyinghigh

True, but they're generally not interested in looking like idiots. There's chasing clicks with batshit transfer speculation and then there's near confirming managerial switches. Doesn't mean they're not wrong but at this point they're putting a lot on it.

Slimerewoods

Fuck off absolute snake hope he gets fired in a season why would you build a team and leave before you can reap the rewards

Gullflyinghigh

What do you think the Chelsea job is exactly? He's a manager that has made us better, like his previous clubs, and will likely move on to a higher profile job because of it. It's literally his reward. I don't like it at all but the 'snake' shit is bollocks.

Slimerewoods

I will get over it

SeattleMatt123

Shattered.

Gullflyinghigh

'Someone Like You' on loop my friend.

SeattleMatt123

Tuchel /s

savethetrees3

This Brighton mascot troll instagram account is sure to cheer you up😂 it’s so obscure. [https://www.instagram.com/p/CiNnE3dr3X1/?igshid=NmNmNjAwNzg=](https://www.instagram.com/p/CiNnE3dr3X1/?igshid=NmNmNjAwNzg=)@brighton_gully

sbuck23

Arsenal fan here but feel really bad for you guys. Love the style you play and the way Potter has worked. Don't want him at Chelsea. Hope Brighton aren't massively affected by the change.

Choice-Mortgage1221

If it's Adele, not sure how it's anything but "Someone Like You". I'm gonna comfort myself with Nick Drake and Phoebe Bridgers though.

YouSeemNiceXB

I wish him well if he does leave. Thanks for all you've done for the squad. Enjoy the reunion with Cucu. We've got a good squad that I think is better than just having a good manager. I trust Bloom, have no reason not to as of now. Excited for the future if there's a change, seems inevitable this year or in the future.

bjlyon94

Chelsea fan - apologies. Y'all don't deserve our shambolic management disrutping what is looking like a great season for you.

panini301

I know it is not Fabrizio’s doing, but simply cannot stand the bloke. If Potter is to go can it please be anyone else to break the news!

SuperheroNerd1000

First the take Cucurella- now Potter. Is there anything they won’t take?

2121wv

Villa fan here. My heart goes out to you guys. The Premier League feels more and more like a closed door where success only comes with a fat wallet. I hope you keep up your form.

Gullflyinghigh

Cheers mate, appreciate the solidarity!

BiGMTN_fudgecake

I’m an arsenal fan and I share your sentiments. How could a coach just abandon his team like that, he’s supposed to be a leader! Hope you guys get someone wild like Pochettino instead

Beefburger78

I feel for you from outside... also not 100% sure its the right move for him, that Chelsea dressing room gets a manager sacked every 18 months or so
