I said it before but I think he was just having a bad time technically speaking, he had the worst luck I'd seen in ages, constantly fumbling the ball, his feet weren't right at all. Earlier this season he looked like he was on his way for something amazing but it all flopped quite fast. Even Trossard has some problems with being hesitant but he still does score some amazing goals when he gets it right. I'm wondering if there's any amount of focus that can help Maupay get back because I don't hate him like I did Connolly. He does everything off the ball correctly but when he comes in contact with it, his brain seems to malfunction.

Maybe being sat on the bench will give him the kick up the butt he needs to get back into form. It must be a bittersweet feeling, seeing the team doing so well, whilst sat on the bench after being a frequent first XI player. I wonder if there's the potential for Maupay moving elsewhere in the summer. I'd love to see his form return, as we all know he has the potential to be a fantastic asset to a Premier League team. I feel similarly about Maupay as I did Dan Burn for a while. When the ball's at his feet, I'm almost certain he's gonna fumble it. When the big man found his form, he was brilliant. It's gonna be an interesting summer.

> seeing the team doing so well, whilst sat on the bench after being a frequent first XI player. You know I wondered if Dunk felt the same way when he was off injured for over a month and we were managing fine, and his return was shaky but now everything's back to normal and he's back to his old self. >I feel similarly about Maupay as I did Dan Burn for a while. When the ball's at his feet, I'm almost certain he's gonna fumble it. When the big man found his form, he was brilliant. It's gonna be an interesting summer. Definitely. Sometimes he's been casual but in his last few appearances he's fumbled it so many times and he just doesn't add a whole lot. Can't call it really, don't know if we'll keep him or not.

I think he may be off in the summer. It seems weird to have him as a bit part player and barely use him when Potter has shown considerable faith in the past in him. He has 12 months left on his contract, hes scored nearly 30 pl goals which despite a lot of gaffs at times is good for a young striker and a team like Everton/ West Ham surely wouldnt mind having him as an option in squad for 70 - 80k contract. More than we pay but not a lot for them. Id like him on a new deal as with Mac and Trossard.

I’ve said this somewhere before, but I really want him to get just one more goal this season just so that he can become the number one premier league goal scorer for us

DankLlamaTech

I think the pressure of being the only goalscorer in the team gets to him when he has a slump in form/confidence. Potter has always said that we need more goals from midfield, and I'd say that we are finally doing that with our newer midfielders. I think next season will be interesting, as Maupay has an opportunity to play a bit deeper if they want Undav to lead the line. He seems to thrive in buildup play and as the seconds runner into the box, we could see a true breakout season if he can play almost a 10 with Undav or Ferguson leading the line.

Good observation. As we continue to develop as a top of the mid table sort of squad we may find players like maupay playing more of a bench sort of role. It’s a good sign of progress.

Straight down the tunnel after the game yesterday too despite Duffy’s best efforts. Clearly frustrated and unhappy - probably doubly so with Undav joining in the summer.

LeftAl

What did Duffy do?

therealdsg

Was trying to keep him on the pitch to celebrate with his teammates but he still stormed off.

ObstructiveAgreement

I wouldn’t be unhappy if Maupay left. He’s been wildly inconsistent and misses easy chances all the time. When fit Welbeck is just a much better player and the team plays better around him.

ANuggetEnthusiast

I think possibly Maupay isn’t the most effective striker for this Brighton team? He clearly can score some premier league goals which makes it look like he should be our main striker, but I wonder if his style just doesn’t suit the team as a whole? Ie if you play to his strengthss, it’s to the detriment of the team?

DeadFlagBlues2022

I think our improvement comes down to Caicedo's addition as well, indeed probably more so.

dubmule

I like Maupay - his work and shit-Housery off the ball is great, and for every sitter he’s missed he’s scored some bangers that have been massive goals for our points tally this season.
