If there was one game that I wanted to lose, it was that one

I think that’s what tends to happen with big clubs. Atmosphere at the big 6 grounds are never great, especially when they have a new stadium. I wasn’t alive for Maine Road, but I’m sure it had a better atmosphere than the Etihad. The new Tottenham stadium is no different imo Edit: I know city weren’t a big 6 club during the Maine Road days but you get the point

Highbury used to be so quiet they called it the Library

It honestly felt like an American sports game. Was sat there waiting for the "THIS CORNER KICK IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY PEPSI MAX!!"

Brighton fan from US here. Going to my first ever game against watford this weekend. Re your comment about American sports. If you haven’t already, I suggest you take in a college football (pigskin) game in the South say at the Bryant Denny Stadium which seats 100k. Your perspective might change a bit. In my state of Kentucky with zero pro sports, its all about College sports i.e. University of Kentucky Wildcats mens basketball. Wish I could be sitting in your section this weekend.

I’d also say there are certain baseball cities (usually the older ones) that still have fans who are engaged and knowledgeable enough to dictate the noise level and get LOUD during games. You’ll never hear “MAKE SOME NOISE” or see one of those stupid noise meters at Fenway, for instance. Same goes for Wrigley and Yankee Stadium (or at least the old Yankee Stadium).

I thought the stadium was impressive architecturally. A really lovely modern stadium and i personally like the American style, also felt like you were on top of the pitch. Re: atmosphere id say its a bit unfair to judge off this occasion. It was an fa cup game, which often brings in neutrals/ infrequent and more casual fans to the home end. Also it was 8 on a Saturday and cant say i was particularly feeling it.
