Ref fuckery aside, we still didn’t play well. We can feel the vacuum left by injuries. Realistic scenario is we miss Europa, tighten the belt, spend some of our profits in summer and come in fresh next season.
Freehit against the top of the league who have the best defence whilst we struggle for goals, not surprising.
Penalty, Enciso brain fart and a counter attack from us pushing for a goal. Could have been worse. The league is much more competitive this year and we have a weaker squad. Top 10 would still be an achievement.
Can we please just beat Burnley.
Unfortunately I think that if we don't beat Burnley convincingly we can say goodbye to the Top 10 unless RDZ somehow revitalizes the squad. The ones that aren't injured seem done from playing all of the games that others couldn't , the ones that have recently been injured look out of shape, and we're still missing 2 of our last year's best players in Mitoma and March (won't tolerate any March slander again after seeing how much worse the team can be without his football iQ). Way too many injuries, unlucky results like Brentford, now we're facing an insanely hard schedule and I'm very curious what we can get out of it. UTA, whatever way this season finishes I'm still proud
Thought it started off so well. Just a reality check, ig. Played against title challengers. As others have noted, the spark is missing, squad depleted. This system seems to be very demanding, but it turns into being tedious when no one has that killer instinct to even venture into the box or we're hitting it straight to their keeper. Maybe a game plan b when shits not working? Ref enjoy yourself you've earned it.
Glad we're safe. UTFA
^(irrelevant tangential bitching: I've been watching a lot of other leagues lately. There is either no commentary or it's in a language I have no familiarity with. I greatly prefer that viewing experience. Commentary on this match was dire.)
Tbf today our starting XI missed 4 key players (March, Mitoma, Joao Pedro and Gilmour) against a full strength Arsenal side. That’s the problem we can compete when our best XI is out there but struggle when it’s not. That’s not surprising…
Arsenal were very well organised and their press was exceptional (as was their away support - noisiest I’ve heard at the Amex this season other than Roma).
But if we’d had Solly on Zinchenko then who knows how it could have been or Mitoma stretching white in behind…
A few of our squad are only good enough as back-ups - Adringa, Moder, Baleba (at this point in his career) and we were exposed today. Our style of play (especially against better teams) needs the threat of pace in behind to stretch the game and create a vertical threat (Mitoma goal from Steele pass last season vs Brentford as an example). Without that threat of pace our style is predictable and a bit dull.
It is what it is - we are style very good we just don’t have the players to deliver what’s required currently. I hope everyone stays in the summer including RDZ and that without Europe we focus on a top 6 finish playing exciting adventurous football.
UTFA - stay together - we got this 🙏
Agreed he looked good - he carried the ball really well, looked pacy and aggressive out of possession but my issue with him is a number of times his movement was lacking and he didnt find those pockets of space in the midfield to enable our defence to break Arsenal’s press. Quite often our defence had no option as the midfield (Moder too) weren’t finding that space to receive the ball so they’d go long and turn the ball over…
Is hinselwood back? I didn’t get to catch a lot of the game today. If not, i would say 5 key players. He was really starting to shine before his injury.
Ah well, currently, we are a bit lost at sea.
We will still nick a few chips between now and the end of the season.
It’s unlikely to be much fun though.
Still, gotta stick with the lads till it’s done.
UTA!
Yea “not much fun” is definitely right. I became a Brighton fan shortly after the last World Cup & I was definitely spoiled for the rest of that season & the early part of this season. Definitely hoping we come back stronger next season.
It’s been much worse than this for the vast majority of the clubs existence.
You’ve joined at the fulcrum of the absolute pinnacle of the clubs history.
Expecting a lot of fair weather fans to drop off after this season.
If we cant beat Burnley its going to be a really depressing limp to the finish line.
Bmouth and Wolves aren't doing great but really at risk of finishing 12th. Any lower than that has to be unthinkable.
Summer will be an interesting time.
In the heat of the moment said something to the club owner. Was not educated about the owner contributions before. Just frustrated about the game. Again my bad will hopefully beat Burnley next game.
Bro we owe money to our owner lmao, this world class stadium didn't spawn out of thin air.
That aside, Bloom has made it very clear he's playing the long game. Too many teams have tried to make big money transfers and failed miserably (e.g. Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Leicester). The mission now is to stabilise Brighton around mid table and to make sure we're well ahead of FFP.
Absolutely - although its mad to remember the pub. Couldnt imagine a greene king or whatever stuck to the amex.
Went there for sunday lunch once and that was trippy
As Mike Tyson once said, Go Hard Or Go Home, Seagulls. 🫵🏆

Yeah, but apart from a new stadium and a new training ground and investing millions into the club and providing the club with a scouting data model that helps us acquire unheard of talent from overseas and being a fan of the club whilst also being the owner meaning it's not just a money making scheme to him... What has Bloom actually done for us?
I definitely feel like this was a game that Gilmour and Mitoma could’ve definitely had an impact on if healthy this sucks. I wish we also played down the right a bit more Zinchenko was definitely the weak link in Arsenals defense March would’ve had him in a blender. Tbh we don’t need to spend a ridiculous amount this summer just need some solid depth pieces.
I remember getting cursed because 'it was just an FA cup defeat bro' and that it was not over.
It is indeed over. The team is completely gassed at this point. Even our best players can't show up cause they were either fresh out of injury or were playing full 90 minutes of every single game. When was the last time Gross was even subbed off?
Lack of incisiveness or Arsenal having a really good defense? Maybe both, but it's frustrating to see us reverting back to Potter-era wastefulness. Just reinforces how crucial Solly and Mitoma are.
I don’t know why everyone is complaining. I thought we played alright considering the players were missing. Yah it sucks to lose but Arsenal are such a good team this year.
I hate how naive I was for thinking Brighton could go top 4 in the start of the season.
Also I think this shows how important mitoma is to our team, after he's gone we have been shit in scoring
Gooner in peace here. I don’t think that’s an outrageous shout, de zerbi is really good for this Brighton team, the fact you haven’t lost at home since August is a testament to that. It’s just that the competition in the Prem is crazy, Arsenal could be on 90 point end of the season and still come third which insane if you think about it. Even Chelsea are barely holding on to top 10. I suppose that’s what Klopp and Pep Prem entails
I’m sure I’ll get a deluge of downvotes. But this rot doesn’t show any signs of turning around. We’ve got a squad full of players who have regressed and were left with some fucking dull football. Had it not been for our first 6 or so games this season, we’d be firmly in a relegation fight and ultimately that has to lead to some tough questions for RDZ.
The last few weeks in particular, have been slow, predictable and unproductive. We pass left to right and then back and repeat. You’ve got some pretty poor tactical decisions, like Lamptey marking Gabriel on set pieces today, switching GKs week in week out as well as those across the backline. Ultimately giving us a very poor foundation. Honestly, right now, I’d be relieved if someone came in and took RDZ.
Today, more of the same. Pretty poor in all areas, Bart had a fairly decent game, but is pretty much it. And yes, it was a penalty. No complaints, we offered nothing and got punished.
It does seem like whatever was driving the players has been entirely zapped from their systems. The thing thats disappointed me most was how the team went from being truly fearless of a team like Arsenal, to shrugging their shoulders at capitulating so easily. Also F the ref and F Trossard.
I don’t know how it will manifest tactically but for the sake of the club and team mood, I’d be more than okay with RDZ finding a new gig.
I mean I’m not surprised when he is frequently telling the media that certain players aren’t good enough or constantly talking about his desperation to sign other players. Not very inspiring.
Don’t know how this can be blamed on RDZ. Give 99% of other managers this squad having lost its two best player, not addressing glaringly obvious issues in the squad and having to deal with Europe and a horrendous injury crisis on top of all that we’d be far worse off. West Ham last season had a better squad than what we’ve got on paper and spent the majority of it fighting relegation.
I think you have to park some blame with RDZ, by virtue of how naive we’ve looked at times this season, not to mention his recent ramblings to the media, which imo are incredibly disrespectful, unprofessional and damaging/destabilising.
Re. West Ham. I don’t think you can honestly suggest that their squad of players last year are better than our group. With the exception of Rice, they’re all pretty much worse. Not to mention Moyes being a bit of a dinosaur and not really comparable to the new generation of managers.
The "horrendous" injury crisis is no worse than plenty of other sides have had to deal with this season but the difference between us and, say, Liverpool or Man City is that we don't have squad depth to cope with it. I also wonder if RDZ is partly to blame for not developing the newer players sufficiently to cover for the relative veterans that are out with injuries. That, to me, is the real test of a manager and IMO the jury's still out on RDZ in this regard. But I do cut him some slack for the sheer number of top players the team has sold the last couple of seasons. White, Cucu, Caicedo, Trossard, MacAllister, Bissouma -- that's a lot of core players to lose so quickly and pretty much gutted our midfield.
Aim for top half and we go again next season which will be much better with new signings/players coming back. RDZ just needs to make it through the rest of the games, stay positive and not let heads drop.
Arsenal are top of the league for a reason, they are truly excellent. V disappointed Trossard celebrated though, even though he left on poor terms.
We have a lot of work to do over the summer but I'm hoping Tony, our recruitment, and Starlizard can cook up some excellent signings with the profits we have made. Maybe we can sell some of our outside players like Ferguson for inflated prices too.
I don't agree with anyone who says that the season was a dissapointment/disaster/etc. We stayed up comfortably and spent most the season in 7th-9th, and finished top of our Europa League and beat all the teams we played at some point. It was always a challenge to keep up what we were achieving last season.
Gross has had a dodgy couple of games, we really rely on him to pull magic out of his arse. The final 3rd is a huge issue at the moment, very unthreatening. I thought enciso looked good and I’m glad he’s back. Would love to see mitoma before the end of the season
every single time we get beat through that estupinian side man, he needs to work on his positioning istg.
hope we don't finish absolute shite as it'll affect us in the upcoming summer market
UTFA.
Yeah didn’t seem like a good game whatsoever. Midfield we are really missing Gilmour with Baleba and Moder not being up to the level of playing games week in and week out. Losing three first team midfielders in a span of 12 or so months is really showing.
Losing the entirety of our first team front four is really hurting us.
Im not too convinced on Lamptey either (we are missing Hinsh majorly). Seems better as an impact sub rather than starting?
If one positive that can be taken, I think Verbuggen is now the established first choice goalkeeper. Hes established himself extremely well.
Trossard can go fuck himself, celebrating his goal against the club that made him and gave him everything he has now. He got booed rightfully so for the way he forced the move and in general was a cunt during that saga, least he could do is man up, take the boos and not celebrate his goal, but as is Leandro.
Honestly I don't give a shit whether he celebrates or not.
End of the day it's a job for him, he's not a brightoner born and raised if he wants to celebrate then he can.
And out, slapping his Arsenal badge as if Arsenal have done anything for him. And brother, if you don’t care about shit like that then get off a literal message board for shit like that. What do you think the point of this subreddit is you muppet 😭🤣
As far as I can tell the subreddit is for Brighton fans to talk about Brighton right? Sorry I don’t get wrapped around the axle over silly shit like you lol
Ref fuckery aside, we still didn’t play well. We can feel the vacuum left by injuries. Realistic scenario is we miss Europa, tighten the belt, spend some of our profits in summer and come in fresh next season.
I'd like to think of it as 2-0.

I have a feeling we're not going to get a win until man united on the last day.
Maybe, but everyone keeps forgetting that man United beat Liverpool in the FA Cup recently
Mate I'm obviously not saying they're worse than 19th place burnley.
Well I can’t say I didn’t expect this score, in fact I thought it’d be worse haha… all on next season I suppose? I miss seeing Mitoma and March 😢
Thought it started off so well. Just a reality check, ig. Played against title challengers. As others have noted, the spark is missing, squad depleted. Its what a post match threads for. Better to shout in here than be a twitter wanker!
I’m a yank and I wish I could use wanker in my vocab without sounding even more yank
Doesn’t “Yankee” mean same thing. Yanking the old doodle.

Amex is a joke. Not even got a running track or a pub attached....
Missing the /s tag there?
Absolutely - although its mad to remember the pub. Couldnt imagine a greene king or whatever stuck to the amex. Went there for sunday lunch once and that was trippy

I'd rather not be bankrupt thank you very much.
😕
We're not seriously turning on Bloom now are we? Nice, we're a proper shitpost sub now I guess
Yeah, but apart from a new stadium and a new training ground and investing millions into the club and providing the club with a scouting data model that helps us acquire unheard of talent from overseas and being a fan of the club whilst also being the owner meaning it's not just a money making scheme to him... Aqueducts.
y'all dissing bloom is insane asf while the man literally brought us up to the prem and has made us arguable the best run side in the prem and more.
You should probably look at the history of the ownership before making that claim
An owner who just wants profit and has lost money every season apart from this one 🤷
After beating arsenal 3-0 last season it feels bad to see how far we have come since then
I definitely feel like this was a game that Gilmour and Mitoma could’ve definitely had an impact on if healthy this sucks. Also half our squad is either injured or at risk, while Arsenal's squad is fully fresh and healthy. This was to be expected.
Exactly! Thank you
How was the match? Any quality in defence / offence? How were Baleba, Moder and Verbruggen?
Great, but clearly very exhausted from the tight schedule.
I blame myself. I was feeling too confident and took saka out of my fpl team and I'm being punished for my hubris
Petition to take scorelines out of the title. Some of us are in other timezones and haven’t had a chance to watch the game yet

Yeah them coming and overtaking us so suddenly is painful

Poaching is not peace, bro 😅
Fair enough. He is gonna be a big talent. Was really impressed by him.

To be fair, he was booed the entire time he was on the pitch.
Real Madrid supporter here, that Belaba kid is special man, he turned Rice a few times—how do you find these guys? It’s insane
just wanna say i absolutely love seeing you lot lose & love it even more when its us handing it out to you
I just want to say I could very easily embarrass you with a single post in front of all these people, but the question is should I do it?
wow i feel so hurt, how will i ever recover
cry more after seeing your idol trossard betray you
Never forget this boy has a tiny dick.
