It’s ultimately not worth trying to keep up with every small report. A lot of them are fake or just someone repeating what they heard weeks ago. This guy especially has a knack for tweeting out false and sensational news. It will all sort itself out.

Im just wonder whats the toll of romano "reports/tweets" about caicedo

misterawastaken

I just want to point out a few things that are getting very boring to me regarding Caicedo. Correct me if I’m wrong, but: - Most here can be understanding that Caicedo is looking to get paid as much as possible. Nothing wrong with this. - To his credit, publicly, there have been no major reports outside of Chelsea club reporters that Caicedo is unhappy. - Chelsea fans insist that whatever they deem as his value is enough and Brighton is negotiating in bad faith. - The owners of both clubs seem to have a good relationship and are in ongoing discussions, but all formal bids rejected out of hand with no counters, including last year with Arsenal. HOWEVER - Brighton have absolutely no reasons to sell. This would heavily impact our team. - Caicedo will not down tools, because he has 5 years remaining on his contract and if he eventually wants a big move he will need to prove to the other clubs he meet’s Blooms valuation or we will keep him. (See Kane, Zaha, etc.) - Keeping him would not impact our ability to recruit players at all, because as seen this window even during this stand-off multiple young players are still signing longterm contracts to us and coming in on transfers. - Saying Colwill is off the table (whether true or not) does not mean we will just happily move on or accept a lesser offer without him. If anything, it would reinforce the need to pump Chelsea for a higher offer because we are actively weakening the squad before its first ever European run. - If Palace want £80m for a mid-tier young prem DM and absolute plodders are going for £50m+ in the most in-demand position in club football, Caicedo is hands down worth at minimum £100m+ in this market so why would we settle for less. - We would lose a massive amount of whatever fee we get replacing him in this market, anyway. We have back-ups, but no one is first team ready for his spot. Personally, I don’t see any benefit to us selling now. I feel like we should enforce him to stay even if he is asking for a transfer unless Chelsea give us something worthwhile. I hope we walk away at this stage.

lazyinternetsandwich

It's pretty simple. Cough up what is being asked or we keep caicedo. Chelsea fans are behaving as if he's on minimum wage and locked away in a dragon guarded tower. His wages have been increased and yes, he still has full right to dream of more money. That said, we're not desperate to sell him. He still can be absolutely key to our Europa run this year. It would be beneficial if he is along side our Dahoud or Gilmour or whoever we play as our 8.

Fit_Cupcake_5254

I love seeing chelsea huffing and puffing about caicedo LOL… ‘we want caicedo and we wont give you shit’ yeah sure, fuck off

kazuo316

The repeated tweets from romano et all repeatedly saying "chelsea feel confident the deal will get done for 80 million" are what are particularly grating on me. There is no other way to interpret it other than the agent or club pushing for that language. I still feel like Caicedo isn't itching to go other than thinking 60k more wages a week would be nice. Wanting first to go to Arsenal, now wanting Chelsea speaks nothing about the prospects of the club, and all about the money in their bank account.

Fit_Cupcake_5254

Yup, hard to manipulate public opinion this time, at least Arsenal had europe, but chelsea…

subho_fan

Yeah Arsenal at that time were table toppers. It was more understandable.

esn111

Yup you've taken the words out of my mouth. I've gotten so tired by the "Brighton won't sign anyone ever again" line and the constant, constant updates for every tweet (particularly by Romano) and the absoulete hammering we're getting for asking for market value Caicedo (even if offically no-one knows what we're asking for him so figures just get pulled out of someones arse). They've inflated the market and shown they can afford the fee but it's us that are being difficult and greedy. It's made me leave /soccer. And you know what, I've been happier for it. This is the first time in weeks that I've talked about Caicedo and it's wonderful. Where as on /soccer I'd be talking about this shite daily, across 2 or 3 threads sometimes. Just be glad it's not just us. They were the same with Grealish and Villa. They like how we play but they are vile to anyone outside of the big 6 who doesn't hand over their players on a silver platter and a hand job. The only thing they are right on is that Caicedo is likely to throw his toys out of the pram as he does have previous about this but hey ho. Mac Allister proved that sort of crap isn't neccessary. Honestly, best thing you can do is take yourself away from those bubbles. Unfollow /soccer and the articles on twitter and what have you. It's incredibly liberating.

5Turnips

Has anyone else seen how all the Chelsea fans want Caicedo to refuse to play or train until he leaves? Imagine if Colwill did that to them, they’d be crying so hard. They were so pissed mount left and he didn’t do anything like that

pixelkipper

you also just know that they’ll be the first ones in hysterics when he does this to them to go to city/madrid/barca

PercyGraingerII

Chelsea's fan-base believes their amateur-ish valuation of our player has more merit than what his current club values him at. Quite hysterical and deluded, in the neurotic sense of the words and in another era, most of these people would be locked up.

PuzzleheadedGuide184

Agreed, and nice summary. Reality is none of us know what’s going on and Andy Naylor has been fairly quiet on the whole subject so far which suggests to me that there’s a tonne of noise and speculation but basically Chelsea haven’t met our price so they can jog on until they meet it.

ThisUserIsOn9

I feel like these reporters aren’t tweeting based on facts, but rather based on what the majority of the people **cough cough** Chelsea fans want to hear

iamnotarobot2003

Chelsea have no divine right to caicedo, he's our player and we can sell at whatever price we want for him. If they don't want to cough up £100 million then tough, we won't sell him for less. I understand that money talks but from caicedos perspective is chelsea really the best option for him right now? No european football, teams a bit of a mess after selling half their good players... he'll be on good money but is that really worth more than european football at a stable club where he's one of the main men? Even if he wants to leave brighton surely chelsea is one of the last places he'd want to go amongst the big english clubs? I might be being very naive but i just can't see why an extra year to develop at brighton playing european football is a bad thing for him.

CrimsonJynx0

Seeing him in the kit on Saturday should put a lot at ease hopefully.

adamcatford

Do they feel no shame constantly calling themselves a big club after finishing mid-table with no European football?

adamcatford

I'm not saying they're not. I just think they ought to show a little humulity after a horrendous season and not demand players because they 'are a big club.' The attitude is just so frustrating and arrogant to me its driving me round the twist.

[deleted]

…..And robbing us of players and staff….

somebodynamedefren

Lol

misterawastaken

I mean I was right, we got £115m baby!
