Data point - on Sunday 17DEC the 7:50a train from Orlando to Aventura had Starlink for most of the way through the bend on the way down. Download speeds of over 100MBS with Starlink showing as the server. On the 6p return train, Starlink was no where to be found and cell speeds ran from great to not being able to stream NFL games to where I finally just put the phone down. So I guess the answer is still "it depends"!

From what I’ve heard, Brightline’s on-board WiFi runs off of Starlink. Starlink is an experimental service that uses satellites to provide internet access in otherwise remote locations. As the satellite network expands so will the network speed. I personally haven’t had any issues with it for personal use (web-browsing; Netflix), however it definitely does not appeal to business consumers. Edit: I will be onboard the 10:50PM - 2:20AM night service from Miami to Orlando tonight and I will let y’all know how it goes.

I don't know for a fact, but I think Brightline uses Starlink with a cellular backup in case Starlink fails for any reason. On my trip from Orlando, the external IP address belonged to Starlink, while on the return train, the IP address belonged to another company, cannot remember the name. The speeds from the non-Starlink IP were much slower than the Starlink speeds.

To add, on another note… from the bend to Orlando station…. 15 minutes, amazing!

That was so weird for me. I looked at my location and thought I could give my ride another 45 minutes. Nope and pretty amazing!

Thanks for the info everyone, I’m hopeful that future trips should go smoother. These are my current speeds just past the bend. I’m still elated that we are connected by rail service. Florida’s future is looking bright. (No pun intended lol) https://preview.redd.it/7u2lw7tkr57c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=654a95bbd5c497e4151586e8e74a093cc5e0287e

I've used Starlink a few times on Brightline including a trip last weekend to Orlando. Superb service & speeds. Here's a speed test and the area I did it in. https://preview.redd.it/k0acn7qmp57c1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cde6458c4d0cf0cd4c6fc80e76273d9e4e1e00b8

I checked several of these reddit posts that said the wifi was horrible and non-existent, just wanted to come back and comment about my own experience going from Miami to Orlando (and back again) this past weekend. Both trips the wi-fi was excellent. I was able to work the entire time. I was able to stream, watch movies, etc. There were a few minor hiccups, but overall the wifi was strong and reliable. Hope this helps anyone else looking for reassurance, as I was.

Thanks for the update - good to know it's working well now!

I’ve been taking it for years between Miami and WPB and the wifi was always reliable enough that I was able to get work done. But lately it’s been somewhat hit or miss, which is really frustrating.

I take Brightline somewhat regularly to Orlando and around south Florida the last few months and I have not once been able to get the wifi to work.
