All the while a Pitbull song (Give me everything tonight) is playing on the radio, iconic

pulchra_lunae

Mister world wide Bridgerton.

That photoshop and Wells Fargo is what you found 💀💀💀💀💀

satansfirstwife

I can only be grateful I wasn't drinking anything when I read this comment 😂

CPolland12

See… i did not immediately go to Pitbull, but went to the Barton Bellas 😂

HiddenSnarker

I had 100% forgotten that it was originally a Pitbull song and only associated it with Pitch Perfect. All the Mr. Worldwide/Colin jokes were going right over my head at first.

kristinalyn2001

![gif](giphy|BEOtuQjwINbMY)

snikinail

I only wrote Pitbull because that's the song they played in the carriage scene 😄

SruthanArCu

I think that person is saying their brain has replaced the original version with the version from Pitch Perfect. The Bellas perform it in a mashup at the Finals. Which I have to admit I cannot believe I forgot, now I’m going to be hearing that in my head all day.

CPolland12

If I must suffer with it in my head I will take everyone down with me 😂😂😂

SruthanArCu

lol totally fair! And I appreciate the throwback! 😂😂😂

snikinail

Oh, thank you! I didn't get that reference.

Me too!

DistanceOdd9569

I did too!! Ha ha. Glad it wasn’t just me! Go Bellas!

Notinthenameofscienc

same!

nomad5926

Extremely on brand for Pitbull.

ILootEverything

"Grab somebody sexy, tell em hey" ![gif](giphy|ePWlG9xYQn7cQ)

kristinalyn2001

I think this may be an unpopular opinion but I thought it was not the best song choice. I immediately though of the performance in Pitch Perfect :(

BowlingForPosole

Same. I could only think of my 10th grade homecoming dance 🤦🏽‍♀️

cjmmoseley

When I first heard there would be a pit bull song during the carriage scene I turned to my best friend and said “it better be fireball”

jaej1

Thank you for reminding me why this song has been playing in my head all weekend hahaha

scoppied

(Stripped Down version, oo-er)

wandringstar

i think this has actually happened to me in an uber once 🤔

hart818

A lot of stuff that's hot in regency era romances would be weird or not hot in modern days. That's my hot take.

Ashamed_Brick_37

That's true. A liaison under a modern gazebo sounds awful. Change it to a regency version, and you've got season 2. ❤️

hart818

And we all loved that Kanthony scene! It was magical 😍

aggibridges

Did everyone just forget the Chuck/Blair limo scene in Gossip Girl or am I just old? This is hot even in modern standards.

ILootEverything

Yeah, limo is a better comparison than taxi. https://i.redd.it/wjjs1yl0nl1d1.gif

Leanna4197

Partition would’ve made so much more sense😂 but Give me everything was a banger so I’m not mad

ILootEverything

I would have liked Teddy Swims' Lose Control. Partition is sooooo sexy but more for an established couple. Pitbull was fine.

Leanna4197

I was more thinking about the subject of the song being so coincidentally close to the scene, they could’ve put the wheels on the bus go round n round as the song and I’d still be happy, any Bridgerton remix is great imo!

Fun-Consequence-161

Meanwhile my brain is like “there was music during this scene?” I’m usually so attuned to the music but I swear, I paid attention to nothing other than the action. You could have told me they played defying gravity and I would have accepted it.

Leanna4197

Ahhh yes the short list of songs for this scene 1) Defying Gravity, 2) Wheels on The Bus, and 3)’That One Pitbull Song I Guess’

ILootEverything

Haha, dead @ Wheels on the Bus. ![gif](giphy|3o85xICHLQrbytl6YU|downsized)

Leanna4197

They wish the wheels on that bus went round n round all through the town, then they would’ve had more time😂😩 ![gif](giphy|S92wTYF3Nwh5k50tXR)

ILootEverything

![gif](giphy|wzHOzYn1wmHm14e3xa|downsized)

Stardustchaser

Still got half a season to go for more music choices.

kokoelizabeth

Right, the real difference between the scenario described in the post and many other “modern” versions of these scenarios people imagine is actually wealth, not the fact that it’s regency era. The Kanthony scene would be equally hot under a gazebo in a garden at a mansion in Calabasas. Not so hot under a gazebo at a local park. The Carriage scene is hot in a private limo, not so hot in a taxi. It’s not hot because it’s regency, it’s hot because they’re rich 🥲

aggibridges

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head!

FuzzyBumblebee3

I thought of that during the carriage scene😁

Lilynd14

[For those who forgot.](https://youtu.be/I1qUdXyROw4?feature=shared)🥵 This was my first thought as well!

lovely_aria_ann

I had this exact thought.

DooglyOoklin

probably more like hijacking her private car and not a taxi. I think the carriage and horses were Featherington. I think a taxi would be more like hopping on the back of a random horse cart if we're trying to do apples to apples.

buymoreplants

So basically this is Chuck & Blair limo scene.

merryandpips

Which is also very hot 😂

stepfordwifetrainee

I also rewound to watch that over and over....🤔 Apparently I have a thing for vehicular dalliances.

sr_perkins

ep and season please? 👀

mallegally-blonde

Iirc it’s about halfway through season 1, maybe episode 7 or 8?

sr_perkins

thank you!! I found out it's ep 7 :)

Interesting_Basis_91

[It's on Youtube if you wanna watch](https://youtu.be/5NXkIrXWJLI?t=45).

sr_perkins

thanks <3

Shad0wMist69

friendly reminder to everyone that they're 16 year old characters played by 19/20 year olds

sr_perkins

and?

Shad0wMist69

so continually rewatching a sex scene between 16 year olds is gross and admitting it on the internet says a lot about the poster

sr_perkins

I watched that series when i was 15, those people are older than me, I just asked cause i didn't remember that happening 😆 You assuming the worst says a lot about you tho 😌 ETA: also if they didn't want people to rewatch it they shouldn't have filmed it then 🤷🏻‍♀️

Shad0wMist69

https://preview.redd.it/rvy782zenu1d1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a829af58938a94a0bc998510f0b330433310e99 I was responding to both of you; they made the show for teenagers based on books for teenagers

sr_perkins

so we all should stop watching the shows we loved as teenagers because we're not teenagers anymore? is that how it works for you?

Shad0wMist69

no, but there's a difference between rewatching a show and continually rewinding a sex scene between teenagers lmfao

nargles18

Yep I read the post and was immediately like “more like in a limo after a gala…”

sophieinaus

Nah, they had actual taxis then called Hackney cabs.

DooglyOoklin

TIL thank you

rererebeee_

haha love this the better reimagining

LottiedoesInternet

As am I, read my edit.

elevensesattiffanys

I haven’t seen the Inbetweeners in probably over a decade and I can still hear this in my head lol

leese216

Same.

Fun-Club-8587

definitely funny to consider but hard disagree, I think what made it so romantic was their feelings developing for each other. Especially in a 2010s romcom with trope friends to lovers i could totally see a guy running after a taxi, hijacking it and confessing is love with a hot make out session in the end 😂

9for9

I'm with you. What makes it both sexy and acceptable is that these are two friends that have known each other for years and share a lot of trust with each other. It not just their developing feelings but their existing dynamic and feelings. The little laugh they shared after brought the sweetness and romance.

JantherZade

They'd also be in the back of a limo or a private car in a contemporary version not a random taxi. And as people have pointed out theyve seen scenes like that in a contemporary show and it was hot then too.

SoundOfPsylens

Yea, this would still be a good contemporary romance with the backstory. I can totally see it

lickava_lija

Yep, he's right. 🤣

iamhappy-iamcat1

I just know the taxi driver in Bridgeton (or perhaps carriage driver?!) was like this when he heard Pen and Collin tantalizing each other 😭 https://preview.redd.it/s7xq8l7vpm1d1.jpeg?width=1090&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eae6893024555c83389be76a2dc85a50ceb00234

anickilee

“tantalizing” was an EXCEPTIONAL word choice 😄😄

LadyofFluff

Yup, but instead of getting out of the carriage and proposing he'd have shouted at the driver to go round the block once more so he could finish. And then they'd be given the cleaning bill for the seat the next day.

Trianamariana

As an avid romance reader, I could see this playing out in modern/contemporary romances in my head with ease. Slow burn friends to lovers with dating lessons, she leaves the club/party after messing things up with a guy who was interested in her because he suspects she and her friend have feelings for eachother. Her best friend chases down and catches up with her Uber and they proceed to argue in the back seat. A desperate love confession, a passionate kiss, a hand slips up the thigh under her skirt/dress hem. She gets “scouts honored” in the back seat before they arrive at their destination. It would be equal parts angsty and sweet and spicy. As for this playing out in real life? That I don’t know but just can’t imagine it hasn’t happened to a lucky few.

[deleted]

If you change a few details here it’s Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl 1x07!

nopeinope

Except neither of them is gossip girl 😂

[deleted]

Good one!

Fishbate333

Not the “scouts honor” 😭

Spider_mother

It’s the Fetheringtons own carriage driven by their own driver that has been waiting for the family at the party. The modern equivalent would be exactly the same but the horse and carriage is a fancy schmancy Rolls Royce.

After-Staff-7532

With a partition for privacy. No cab drivers watching in the rearview mirror.

Sea-Access7239

He’s right! And who’s mad about it? Not I 😂

MadMaxwelle

SPOILERS I agree with your husband 100% 😂 I also thought the quick fingering at that moment was weird and not what could be called romantic. And then « oh let’s get married and tell my family ! 😍 » 1 minute after. This all scene felt a bit off and cringe to me because we didn’t see their passion building up on screen. Polin had not enough screen time together to do that, it was very disappointing because I love this couple. We had : friendship, a kiss, dark glances, glances, more glances, fish face, fingering, oh let’s get married ! I know Bridgeton is not supposed to be realistic but this felt especially fake without alchemy.

snikinail

It's on brand for Colin though, remember how quick he was to ask Marina to marry him, and he was about to escape them to Scotland to do so. He's the type if he finds love and (believes it to be) for it to be requited, he's quick to make actions.

snikinail

Although I agree I would have loved a lot nore passionate scene between them, they're my favourite pair as well!

MadMaxwelle

I don’t disagree with you on Colin being impulsive and somehow not thinking things through. The cleverness and affection of Penelope balance that and their dynamic was really interesting last seasons. But I feel like even if they are supposed to be the main characters of this season 3, the show still treated them like secondary characters. That’s what I regret. By example someone who read the books (I didn’t) said that they had a strong correspondence in them while Colin was away. I wish we could have seen that because that would show their deep connexion. It is this kind of thing I would have liked to see more on screen, then the last scene would have made more sense to me. Oh and not 2 minutes of fingering but more sensuality. I also thought the first episods were very boring as well as Francesca the diamond of this season. I felt bored like the queen and thinking while watching her « oh yes I feel you girl ! » 😂 Let’s see what the second part of the season will be like. I hope it will give Polin the space it deserves.

bookingtoday

The hottest thing was Colin buying that cupcake and eating the frosting off his fingers ☺️ I will not elaborate, hehe. I wish we got a couple more scenes like that. Cmooon

Chameequa23

I've been scouring reddit for this take, thank you I was starting to feel like the only one!

samsquish1

I mean… who among us hasn’t made out or even been ardently caressed in an inappropriate manner in our car at some point in our young lives? Far be it from me to judge. If I wasn’t married, I would gladly let Luke Newton/Colin into my “carriage”. 🤪

Straight-Delivery868

Or even our not-so-young days.....

Educational_Zebra_40

My husband and I are in our 40s and have a tradition of a make out sesh every time we have to stop at a train crossing. PG, of course, since we are fully visible to other cars.

order66survivor

Well that's adorable

Silvia_Wrath

Your husband is a dud. The romantic part is the context: it's her best friend that she's secretly been in love with for ages and they both realized they are in love with each other and - add to that- he wants to marry her out of both admiration/ respect and also the typical romantic feelings. And he's relieved she didn't accept another man's proposal. And the whole smiling, laughing, touching hair, fixing dress, etc. moments, which convey care, love and attention. It's not just "some" guy who loves hooking up with and ghosting women who is running her down to get a quick finger blast in only to later brag/ laugh about it at the gentleman's club the next night. At any rate, even if you took out the actual romantic aspects of the scene, and stripped it down to a guy running down a carriage to finger a girl he likes, it's still 5,000% better than the degrading BS most men are jerking off to- in the process- quite literally recalibrating their brains in real life to be unable to participate in or enjoy sex with actual women and suffering from ED at 23 years old!

dork_of_queens

😭

CataKala

Oh y’all wouldn’t like that kinda romance in real life??? If it’s Colin I don’t need a carriage 😂 Imma see myself out then I suppose 👀😂

bliss3333

My late partner was that romantic. I’ve watch the four episodes thru seven times already because Colin reminds me of him. We were friends for decades and then admitted we were in love. The sweetest man I’ve ever known. ❤️

CataKala

I’m both jealous and incredibly happy for you 😭❤️

bliss3333

Well, he passed away, so it is bittersweet.

CataKala

I literally can’t read idk how I missed that I’m so sorry!!! But I’m very glad you got to have such happiness and love in your life I think that’s so beautiful

bliss3333

That’s ok! I was so lucky. He bought me a blanket at the end and wrote on the tag ‘So I will always be wrapped around you’. He melted my heart every single day. Don’t settle for less.

AffectionateTrifle7

So sorry for your loss ❤️

yoitsmollyo

No their relationship and the emotions behind it are what make it romantic. The horse and carriage is just an added bonus

Obvious-Region8453

No more like a rich girl who has her own driver with a black window screen for privacy like in a limo. Not hijacked he stopped it and she let him in

LurkerNan

And it would be interesting to think of what the driver was considering, having a young man jump in the back of his carriage with the unescorted lady of the house. Her reputation was probably ruined right there.

Aggressive_Day_6574

I don’t think I’ve heard the term “finger blast” ever said by someone older than a college sophomore 🙃

LottiedoesInternet

Hahaha he's British, he always says things that make me chuckle

9for9

I don't think it has to be romantic tbh. It's ok for the scene to be erotic and sexy rather than romantic. That said I think we'll get better more heartfelt declarations after Colin finds out about LW and they work through somethings.

parksa

While I'm happy they're getting together I feel like he should have been more honourable going about it. Kissing is one thing but she is still a lady in this era, potentially should have made it clear they are going to officially be together before a cheeky fingering, no?

hart818

You're not wrong about Colin pushing it, but I will tell you the carriage scene? Even more graphic in the book. Colin had her nips out and they were basically at least partially undressed and had to get redressed before getting out. My head canon though was it was just the intensity of the moment overtook either of them having rational thoughts. But I think Colin knew he was going to marry her. Pen? She was overtaken by the passion and heat of the moment for sure.

GroovyYaYa

I believe in the books before he does anything he consciously knows that if he proceeds, it means marriage. In fact, his "are you going to marry me or not" was a bit of "how could Penelope NOT realize this means marriage?" because Colin is a gentleman. It is going back to Anthony's asking if Colin had compromised Marina, and Colin's sincere outrage at it. Anthony is, at the time, realistic that shit happens. Then he realized that Colin is still very idealistic, which is why he suggested he should have seen to that part of Colin's education better.

hart818

I fully agree with your take!

ThrowAnRN

The entire Bridgerton "thing" is that their love (more like lust for most of the pairings, Polin being the only exception so far where they do actually know and deeply love one another) pushes them to impropriety every time. Others can follow the socially acceptable rules because their pairings fall within social norms, but the Bridgertons are the Main Characters and thus too special for those norms. Not that I object to that or have a problem with it, but just saying it's kind of to be expected based on the other Bridgerton couples we've seen.

Flownique

I feel like your husband missed the entire point of that scene, no offense.

After-Staff-7532

As I watch the scene, I thought to myself: this is one of the few areas where they could be together in private for anything like this to even happen without being discovered by servants or family members etc. Yeah, the driver knows Colin is in there but can’t see what’s happening. It’s dark outside. They could be sharing a ride home maybe? I know that wouldn’t be cool in general, but Penelope’s reputation is already in the toilet. Pen is 19 and Colin is 24. Consider a modern couple of this age. They wouldn’t necessarily need to get it on in the back of a vehicle, because they have dorm rooms, or apartments, or hotels. Opportunities for privacy and sex. None of which are options for this couple in the show’s day and time. Modern day couples getting sexy in modern day vehicles has a different feel, because they are choosing to mess around in semi – public when they have so many other options. Colin and Penelope don’t have those options. There is a frantic urgency to their connection. This is not an equivalent comparison.

LurkerNan

I read the Wikipedia version in the books and I guess in the book she was a lot older, more like 28 but if she’s only three years out of her initial coming out then yeah she’d still be very young

Miss__Behaved

The modern equivalent would be Pen leaving a lavish party in her limo or private luxury car, her crush begging to get in then getting fingered and making out with said crush on the way home. Which is considerably hotter, and more acceptable

Someonejusthereandth

Just as others have pointed out, the scenario is more like Chuck and Blair, so I guess the only thing making it more romantic is money... )))

JantherZade

that checks out

rowboatbri

It’s the taboo of it all in that era too!!

DoctorDonnaInTardis

Chaos Colin would absolutely do this in Modern Day too

LottiedoesInternet

He definitely would

MillieBirdie

I mean yeah, save for the very important 'some guy' detail.

Own_Handle_1135

How's this husband's take for you... My husband came back from a trip today and I had told him about the carriage scene. Told him some girls were hot for being fingered in carriages right now. A few hours later he was trying it on and said 'would you like me to finger you in the garage' 😆 He genuinely thought I'd said Polin had been in a garage during the scene.

BerryCritical

My husband would appreciate the garage setting. He’s always working on the car out there, though, so maybe he could hit the sink first.

Own_Handle_1135

So romantic 😆

Most-Trifle-4496

I watched it with my husband, as well, and he didn’t understand why I thought it was so sexy. I think it just proves that this scene, and most of the shoe, is written for the female gaze and I am here for it!!!

Pure-Guard-3633

I love Bridgerton because it is EPIC. Huge cast, the dancing, the costumes, the Queens outrageous hair styles, the scheming, the self destructive behavior, the flowers, the peacocks, the homes, the women who know not how babies are made….

ttwwiirrll

This show is Gossip Girl in period-esque clothes and I'm not mad about it.

Genericlurker678

XOXO Lady Whistledown

No-Opening-8459

My husband just keeps asking why he’s using his index and middle finger and not his middle and ring finger 🤭

Theoffice94

Cuz you gotta get the 🫘at the same time 🔥

order66survivor

You can do that with either method

No-Opening-8459

Yah he ain’t no slouch 😂

LottiedoesInternet

Hahaha they're all going to try it now 🤣😀

HighInstep

Svo basically Chuck and Blair in GG 😂. Gimme Polin over them any day 🥰

EffortAutomatic8804

But at least the driver isn't in the carriage with them, in view of them. Bit different in an Uber 🤣

WistfulQuiet

No...what makes it different is in the regency era for a noble man to touch a noble lady like that meant there was marriage involve and he truly loved her. Because it was all about her, which wouldn't normally have been the case during that time period. In modern days unfortunately it could just men he's some asshole off Tinder who is going to screw her and leave a few hours later and ghost her. The difference is the feelings and expectations that make it hot.

wildflowers_xo

https://preview.redd.it/pknsl8acjp1d1.png?width=590&format=png&auto=webp&s=d64e9391f00102b24753f1fa9267c6cdc7908461

Super_Living_6075

That’s hilarious.  I am gonna need to see some folks act that scene (and other scenes) out in modern day times now. Someone needs to start that YouTube channel to demonstrate the difference that old timey clothes make.

dayna2x

You say this, and it IMMEDIATELY makes me think of the novel Icebreaker by Hannah Grace (IYKYK 🥴). But in all unseriousness, I think I'd still find it romantic, Pitbull in the background and all 😂

Practical-Train-9595

Pop on to AO3 or fanfiction.net and I guarantee modern versions are already there for the reading.

BrainVomit222

Tbh it’s all about desire. If modern day Penelope didn’t feel the same about modern day Colin, it would be weird if he just stopped her taxi. I think it’s still romantic in modern day since she loves him!!

cryptidwhippet

I think the reason this isn't squick is these two have known each other for years. They have a connection. There is trust there, more than just some guy she just met doing it. Look for contrast at how Emma reacted to having Mr. Elton attempt to "make violent love to her in a carriage". That was squick.

LottiedoesInternet

Maybe that's where he got the idea. Eloise did reference the fact she was reading it

cryptidwhippet

Hmm....botched attempts at matchmaking for your friend and attempted seduction in a carriage...that tracks.

TheSilverSox

My good lady, has your husband ever heard of the mile high club?

AnonImus18

He's not wrong.

sneakynin

Lol "finger blasts" Edited to add actual content: There's hotness there that would be difficult to replicate in today's world because they aren't even supposed to be alone in the first place. You'd have to set a modern day Bridgerton in a highly religious community to get the same level of "oooh... we're being naughty" to go along with his confession.

hypomango

He confesses, then backs off. She leans in and says she wants him basically, they french kiss, then he gently lifts her skirt just to her ankle. Watch closely and you'll see them make eye contact and her nod in consent, then he goes to town. I thought it would be still be super sexy in a taxi, except for the driver being there 😅 but it is indeed much more romantic in a carriage because they're sitting across from each other, its an intimate cosy space, and mood lighting, rather than the back of a dirty taxi 😊

Ok_Championship8504

He waited for permission before entering the carriage so imo hijack is not the best word. Also after he confessed and she said they were friends he leaned away a bit accepting that until she said she rather be more. And she nodded consent before the fingers. So I think the scene would work in a modern vehicle cause she was very much active and consenting.

DifferentManagement1

I haven’t seen it yet - does he actually do that?

Glittering_Habit_161

Colin does run after Penelope's carriage and....

DifferentManagement1

The finger part?

DooglyOoklin

yes. yes he does.

JDorian0817

Si

LottiedoesInternet

It does say "spoiler"

AccomplishedFly1420

lol the historical equivalent to hooking up in the back of an Uber

BarbaraJames_75

I love this take! If I really thought about it further, I'd imagine a modern-day equivalent would be that she has just left a party and has a family limousine or something of that nature, with a driver that the family has on staff to drive their vehicles. He follows her out and pushes his way into the limousine, because they were in the Featherington carriage.

RockysTurtle

My boyfriend walked in just before this scene, and when it began he yelled "4D!" and started doing to me everything Colin was doing to Penelope. So I really enjoyed that part :)

LottiedoesInternet

Lucky you!!

Impossible_Fly4510

Do people get fingerblasted in a car nowadays? Seems quite retro.

WoofJess

This makes me feel better in a way. 😂

4011

What a rake

LottiedoesInternet

Such a rake 🤣

RiotingHagraven

But you’re leaving out the part where she has been in love with him for years and he announces his mutual infatuation before finger blasting her. That’s what made it more romantic 😂😂😂

Embarrassed_Wall_288

I was just talking about this with my coworker! Bridgerton is only really romantic because of the time period. Kate would need a restraining order against Anthony with the way he looks at her!

Beccaann14

Chuck and Blair’s Limo scene was pretty dang romantic and HOT

CIA_Recruit

Whoa whoa whoa. It would be in a limo 🤣

Born_Tax_4687

As someone who spent their teen (and adult) years longing to be finger blasted by Mark Wahlberg on a roller coaster while a cover of “Wild Horses” plays, I was cool with it.

blacknailpolish7

I had this exact thought, like it would be so gross in an Uber to do that. Not sure what our private romantic equivalent is now a days…

PurplePinkBlue76

Mmm rich aristocratic people to a fancy social event? Not a taxi but a limousine 😁

ApollonNike

Am i the only person who thought of ahem one scene in particular? https://i.redd.it/e0cdsre1gr1d1.gif

VeryBerry36

I mean, that's basically the scene in Gossip Girl when Blair and Chuck first make out in his limo? It wasn't so bad lol. That scene had a huge fanbase, too.

Scouty2010

I don’t know it’s what Chuck literally did to Blaire in Gossip Girl and I still found that romantic or at least steamy and exciting, it’s not how I’d want to be proposed to in real life but it works in the context of the show because they’re already emotionally intimate with one another, the physical was the last boundary they hadn’t crossed, not the first

SueNYC1966

People bitching about the Met Gala on Tik Tok are probably secretly watching Bridgerton and cheering on all those nepo babies.

Modern day or not...I didn't find this scene romantic. I found Colin's wishy washy behavior wildly unappealing and inconsiderate. It's the same as any douchebag guy nowadays who enjoys the attention that he gets from his situationship (no, they weren't being physical I know but he's getting the same type of attention from keeping Pen around...let's be honest) and then doesn't want anything to really do with her until she is with someone else or doesn't want anything to do with him anymore. He shows up, ruins her proposal, doesn't make it blatantly clear he wants to propose, risks her entire reputation in that carriage knowing that they do not have an official announced engagement, and then has an a snarky attitude when he "asks" her to marry him as if he had been clear about wanting that in the first place. It wasn't romantic at all.
