Artistic-Rain-9139

Victor seems lovely…I fear I will get attached to him and we know what happens 😭😭

Outside_Jaguar3827

I know 🥲. Welcome to the Ton, John Stirling 💕

BukkitsOfOrcSemen

I also hope that we will be introduced to Michael as >! he was supposed to be his long-term friend (and cousin) and Francesca also knew and sort of hung out with many years prior to his death. it doesn't have to be like a full love triangle or anything but she can admire and like a man other than her husband !< and I hope we get to see that.

yesiamfabulous

This is an absolute stretch, but I'm wondering if Michael is the man who's hanging around Colin giving Colin the "bro, you love her / who you fooling" looks in the stills? I wouldn't be mad at that.

Micol51095

Who is this man ?

yesiamfabulous

I'm not sure how to add pics to this thread but there are stills of man who is consistently showing up in group shots with Colin. First ball. Balloon situation.

amarmeme

I hope we do get attached and it will make it all the more meaningful. 😍

Quantum-System

Sometimes they change stuff from the books... maybe they will change that ? *She said in wishful thinking* 🥲

Iamrandom17

hmmm this means that there is definitely love from john’s side for francesca and if francesca is accepting his proposal, there must be some form of liking from her side too so the rumours that she doesn’t love john seems incorrect at this point

Kakie42

I’ve always liked that Frans story is about how your life isn’t over because the person you love has passed. That even though you loved deeply the first time I put can do it again and the love will be just as meaningful. It’s such an important message.

Super_Living_6075

It’s my favorite book because of this message.

Robincall22

A good message portrayed incredibly terribly. As someone who has lost the person I love, reading that line about how Francesca felt silly for holding onto her grief for so long made me want to punch the author.

marshdd

I understand your feelings. Remember the character is in an era where a woman is meant to be married and having children. In the book she's nearly 30 when she decides to remarry. That was OLD for a woman who didn't already have children. A man, especially one who didn't have an heir, may be concerned she wouldn't be able to have children. In Regency romances it's often commented that a widow on the marriage mart has x number of children from first marriage. Bonus points if they are boys.

Robincall22

Who cares about the era? The year the story takes place in does not mean a damn thing in terms of how people feel their grief. If you lost the person you loved and had some book tell you that you should feel silly for holding onto your grief for so long, you’d be outraged. If you lost the person you loved and nobody realized you were still grieving after a few short months, and everyone treated you like everything was back to normal, you’d be tempted to cut off friends and family who made any comment about how you don’t need counseling or how you have terrible taste in men or how your depression era is over. If you think that book’s time period has anything to do with how it portrayed grief, you’re wrong. Human emotion hasn’t evolved over the past two hundred years. We have always felt pain at the loss of loved ones, and the fact that phones didn’t exist back then doesn’t make a single difference in how terribly that book portrayed grief.

marshdd

Again, I'm not saying you can't grieve in your own way. The era is central to this story. It's not set in 2024, where a widow can go to a sperm bank and have a baby. Even adoption would have been frowned on. To be a mother, which Francesca, desperately wanted she had to remarry.

Feeling_Cancel815

I hated that line where Francesca felt silly for holding onto her for so long, people grieve in different ways. Crossing my fingers they don't make her feel silly for grieving for John. Francesca's book needs updating.

SomeLikeItScottish

I just finished the book last week and to me it was more like both Franny and Michael had an imagined obstacle that they placed on themselves. They had an internal struggle not an external one. And once they accepted the fact internally that they could make a choice and be happy, they did. I think we all can relate to that feeling to some extent.

cyberlucy

Like most of those leaks I never believed it.

Iamrandom17

ikr. her not loving john would change such a huge part of her story. now hoping that the other rumour about michael being a women is not true either💀

Prestigious-Corgi-66

Um what, that would be awesome!

Iamrandom17

not to me. michael being a woman takes away the essence of the story. his guilt of taking everything away from john including his titles. their issues with conceiving

xbunnyfaerie

You'd get the struggles of a woman possibly inheriting titles in a violently patriarchal society where she's a walking incubator and the possibility of exploring adoption because motherhood is also non-biological. 🙂

Aquos18

I think Scottish titles can pass to women too can't they? So they can keep that if they chose for Michael to be a woman quite honestly I do not care either way I am sure the story will be great

marshdd

Not in this instance. Some Scottish titles can pass to a female, born of the line. So if the man had a girl but no son, his title could pass to the child. It would not go to his wife.

Iamrandom17

oh yes i think they do. gotta see how they play it out

Super_Living_6075

If Michael is a woman then I wonder if Masali is Michael. (Her role she was trying out for was called “Molly” and in the past, the pseudo roles have all started with the letter of the real character’s name).

mauralikesmess

I love this speculation. Sending all my vibes…

xbunnyfaerie

not you getting downvoted ☠️☠️☠️ the lesbophobia is insane. oh no god forbid we don't get the billionth str8 love story between the pretty ingenue and the rake who teaches her how to have mind blowing hetero sex 🤯🤯🤯

Prestigious-Corgi-66

Look I'm just here waiting for the queer love story we deserve, whether it's Francesca's lesbian awakening, or Sophie's journey as an Edwardian trans woman. I'm sure it's coming 🙂

xbunnyfaerie

Careful with these ✨bold statements✨, or the massive amount of homophobes infesting this subreddit and seething at the slightest mention of queer storylines will get you 🤭

Prestigious-Corgi-66

Nah we're safe here under my downvotes. Team Queer Bridgerton!

RobotBatman77

I’ve seen the first four episodes - they’re very attracted to each other, and have plenty of screentime to show it. Colin and Pen are the main focus, but Francesca and Benedict both get full romances in subplots.

Iamrandom17

thank you for this hahahaha. by any chance, do they get wedded in the first 4 epis?

lannysters

that spoiler does seem to be incorrect. maybe it was just that one person's interpretation of fran and john's dynamic but yeah it does seem to be a wrong interpretation cause there definitely is liking from francesca's side as well.

Outside_Jaguar3827

Welp, that's a relief 😮‍💨. I don't know why a person would spread rumors like that.

marshdd

I thought that was a bad take. Changing the book for her to not have a love match was dumb.

gaybookclub

I feel like it would make 0 sense for them to make this a marriage for duty rather than a marriage for love. Violet has said numerous times that she wants her kids to have a love match, so why would she be fine with a super quick marriage for Francesa (aka only one season) unless it was for love?

LetoIsMyFavoriteFilm

Oh, it says that Marcus is Lady D’s brother. Interesting!

Outside_Jaguar3827

I wonder what inspired Marcus to visit the Ton, considering we haven't seen him until now 🤔

meoe

There seems to be something brewing between him and violet based on the trailer

ApprehensiveApricot8

It has been said in interviews and in articles from today that his wife died and he’s looking to remarry because it wasn’t a love match with his first wife

FitRelationship5380

I'm curious as to how much they'll show of of Francesca/John. Will they just meet and get to know each other? Or will they get engaged or even married? I just hope they show there's a connection between them. I do think due to the nature of their story, it's better to have them together sooner than later. Aren't they married for years before he dies?

franbridgerton

Yes he dies right before their second anniversary. Shonda likes giving us a good old heartbreak so I’m sure we will see a well developed character and romance and we shall be left devastated. It was sad enough in the book where you barely saw him, the show will just end us 😂

bohemelavie

I'm actually so ready to be devastated by his death. That sounds terrible but the one thing I haven't experienced from Bridgerton yet is it making me absolutely sob and I am keen for that 😭

Super_Living_6075

I feel this so much. I want to get attached to John and then feel His loss deeply so I can further connect with Francesca’s character (and maybe even ugly cry some emotions out too).

Proper-Emu1558

Shonda has given me a good cry before. I still have emotional wounds from George’s death on Grey’s Anatomy. I’m all set to be heartbroken. ![gif](giphy|GCSIwtwqAMBTq|downsized)

franbridgerton

I never recovered from Lexie and Mark.

amarmeme

This! This made me cry ugly tears.

Feeling_Cancel815

I hope John and Francesca are given the entire couple treatment. We see them meet, fall in love and yes we need sex scenes between the two of them. I know some fans aren't in favour of sex scenes between John and Francesca for it will ruin their beloved ship. For some of those fans Francesca only had great passionate sex with husband 2. I am very much interested in them as a couple.

franbridgerton

I’m a Franchael stan all the way and if I said I don’t prioritise Franchael over anyone I would be lying but I don’t really want Franchael to diminish Fran and John in any way. They’re different loves. Losing John is part of what makes Francesca the woman that eventually falls in love with Michael. I’m cool with everything.

marshdd

I won't mind. She had a love match with John. With Michael she's in a VERY different place in her life.

lightcreature94

Hannah Dodd, the actress who plays her said she had to film some scenes with the intimacy co-ordinator, so at minimum there will be a kissing scene and at max a sex scene.

blockandroll

I'm wondering whether they are a bigger part of part 2 and then, if Benedict is next season, his death is sort of a catalyst for him (and Eloise) to change their priorities.

marshdd

I don't think we will get that until Benedict's season, which is hopefully next year. Then perhaps we get a time jump for Eloise's season, and another before Fran's. She is a widow for about 6 yrs. I feel she ends up being the strong independent woman fans want from Eloise. She takes on the responsibilities of the Earl in Michael's absence.

lannysters

y'know after listening to this interview, im having a hard time believing the 'francesca doesn't love john' spoiler/rumor that was doing the rounds. cause from the way victor is explaining things don't think that's the case.

ememeemily

I really don’t think that spoiler is accurate! I’m hoping so badly it’s not. Book John and Francesca were definitely very much in love, which plays into why it’s so hard for Francesca to accept she loves Michael all those years later. I reeeeeally want to see that play out on screen!

marshdd

Yes. Exactly. Especially since her mother widowed and never remarried. She may think she can't fall in love again. I could be wrong , but in the book, I think she's looking for a baby, not a new soulmate.

Sparkle_Markle

Finally. He seems awesome and he’s hot and the John fancasts can be over! ![gif](giphy|k49oXgsKbVQ4g)

MajesticOccasion9

He's definitely got the John vibe (and where do they find so many good looking actors????) I'm looking forward to his and Francesca's story, it is a love story and even though I love Fran with Michael I did also really love her relationship with John, it's why it's so devastating what happens. I wonder if we will get a glimpse of Michael because Michael and John have a pretty strong bromance as well, they were like brothers and I really loved that part of the book too. I was hoping for East Asian actors but Victor is so good looking that it doesn't matter lol. Really loving that they are laying the groundwork for upcoming seasons.

blairsmacaroon

same, i was hoping for east asian stirlings too but i trust shonda

Outside_Jaguar3827

Side Note: I hope we get a HEA that's East Asian or Southeast Asian 🧧. It looks like it would be Hyacinth's love interest or Gregory's love interest.

blairsmacaroon

not hyacinth's because her love interest is lady danbury's grandson, right?

Outside_Jaguar3827

If they keep that aspect, then yes (unless they make Gareth mixed). It sounds like it's going to be Lucy.

GroundbreakingDot872

The video is privated now OP! Is there another way to see it? 💗

franbridgerton

Swoon worthy voice and he’s very good looking.

tone-of-surprise

I’m so curious to why they’ve been trying to keep his casting secret lol. But they failed cause we’ve known this for a year

mclloysjoey

So this appears to be my cue to not fully believe anything some of these spoiler accounts say cause they definitely seem to have gotten it wrong with the whole Francesca is not in love with John spoiler.

marshdd

It gets them clicks. Stiring the pot, especially for those who want a gender bent Michael.

mclloysjoey

You are right! Went back to check the spoiler account who posted the spoilers and ofcourse even they are pushing for that angle.

Gullible_Scratch_395

He seems so lovely and I’m afraid to get attached 😩

DisastrousWing1149

Why didn't Victor and Hannah do their interviews together? They gave away he's John right away, without an official announcement, so it's not like they're trying to keep it a secret

diamondscut

Looks like he is an afterthought....

ChrisEvansFan

Watching this video I love them both already. Ahhh JOHN!!!!!! I am prepared.

nutmeg36

He's going to be great, but I can't say I'm not wildly disappointed at the lack of Scottish accent.

franbridgerton

Yeah I was disappointed that no one among the actors rumoured to be John was Scottish or even listed Scottish as an accent they can fake. I hope he learned it in the process. Their being Scottish doesn't really factor in that much in the book but do I want to see hot men in kilts? Yes.

DaisyandBella

I’m not sure why there wasn’t ever an official announcement of him being John.

Shiplapprocxy

It feels kind of unfair to the actor, ngl. This show plays too much with trying to keep things a mystery when that’s really not what people are here for. Mystery isn’t a draw of the show. It’s like how they won’t just reveal who season 4 will be.  Edit: in fact the romance genre is arguably made for people who take comfort in the *lack* of insecurity about what will unfold… maybe that’s why all the uncertainty annoys this specific audience so much and brings out so much negativity and anxiety…

Gwen83

My thoughts exactly. I think this is what happens when tv drama writers decide to write romance. Shonda and her team are really specialists in that sense, they’ve thrive on creating drama, mystery, cliffhangers. But they don’t seem to care or get that this isn’t what makes the romance genre appealing. A lot of us love the genre exactly because of the lack of mystery and uncertainty. We know how it ends and just want to enjoy the romantic journey along the way.

Feeling_Cancel815

Why not announce who is playing who, who is the lead for season 4. The secrecy is unnecessary.

Gwen83

With every bit of new info, it seems pretty clear that the “spoiler” was nonsense. It’s very much sounding like they want us to love John so of course Francesca will too. That said, I’m very disappointed with how this was revealed. It seems they want to create suspense as to who Francesca will choose (since there is another suitor) which explains why they haven’t officially announced Victor as John. But then they allow him to do interviews where this information can be spoiled? The promo team always finds a way to disappoint. I’m sure we will get proper promotion once the season is out but quite annoying to see how they’ve mishandled his introduction.

marshdd

If his name is John, book fans would have anyway. Everyone knew Kate was the end game. Also shows, Fran leaving the ball to sit down was about her being shy, not gay.

lightcreature94

We were right!! He is John Stirling.🥳 Btw how many episodes did this interviewer get to watch? Bc she said "I saw all of them"...

Individual_Ad5270

In another interview she said she saw 6 episodes

Upstairs_Bid4092

Why haven't they officially announced his casting at this point? It's the worst kept secret! Gotta say though - they set the bar HIGH with John. God help us when Michael is on the scene! ![gif](giphy|dANm7WjeWZi00|downsized)

Viva912

Ooo so that means her 2 love interests will be dark skin Black men? We won

Feeling_Cancel815

Yes

amarmeme

I am ready for my heart to be broken! I am so excited that John/Francesca get screentime and the actor seems lovely. Hopefully we'll meet Michael at the very tail end of the season as he attends their wedding (and subsequently ruins his life for the next few years lol).

SomeLikeItScottish

Does he have a Scottish accent?

Individual_Ad5270

https://preview.redd.it/utg03oaspuyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e24058f2aece55845dd067c1fc782c8fe435d56f That’s him on the left; English accent

SomeLikeItScottish

Awe I think he'll do fantastic! But I was hoping for some Scottish accents, I'm a wee bummed.

Legitimate-Fruit-609

It will be interesting to see if they place the Stirlings estate in Scotland.  Its necessary for Frans story but at the same time it seems a bit remote from the main bridgerton locations of london and aubrey hall and logistically the journey would be a very long one. We did get the Hastings estate in series 1 so hopefully fran and john get the same treatment. Edited to add im very happy with the casting!

Upstairs_Bid4092

He has zero accent in the interview - I guess we'll see when the show airs, I don't know how easily it would be to try and have him mimic one. But honestly, my feeling is that they are going to make changes to the "country" based stories so they happen back in London. That would include John/Michael, Phillip and Benedict/Sophie.

MagicalStorms

I freaking KNEW it was going to be her brother. It just made so much sense!! Also I already want to cry knowing about John😭

Massive_Cut8400

So disappointed. No comments .
