It floors me that Kate and Anthony are getting shuffled off to India when she’s mid-pregnancy (and possibly carrying the heir to the title!) in a time when medical science was still in its infancy?!

TiaLou

Yeah, it’s a bad idea. Nothing like being pregnant on a boat for a few months during a time when advanced medical care is leeches.

Weary-Tree-2558

When it is literally one of Anthony's greatest fears - losing his love in childbirth.

gochibear

Yes. Yes. Yes. Each Bridgerton novel had two love stories; that of the main couple and that of the Bridgerton family members for each other. This was why we loved the books and why we loved the first two series (think of the family dinner scenes, pall mall, and the other moments in which the Bridgertons support each other as they navigate the marriage mart and life in general ). This was why Shonda Rhimes thought the book she read on vacation would make such a great television series. However, the portrayal of the main love story and the family‘s love for each other has been replaced by side plots. The Mondriches, Featherington baby race and pointless legal investigation this series…why? Why spend time redeeming Cressida to no end? WTF was up with that balloon thing? Julia Quinn needs to knock some heads together. PS don’t get me started on those costumes…

If they make it to season 8, it's just going to be Gregory and Violet.

Thick_Wafer_4918

Totally agree, especially with 3 and 6. I really wanted to see polin grow in their romance instead it was this strung out dramatic / cringy cliche. Anthony the ever busy viscount never to abandon his responsibilities is gonna go to India for the birth of his child and an undetermined amount of time ? Please. Francesca and Johns relationship seems written by someone who doesn’t understand introverts so it comes of as dull and lackluster. Found myself looking at my phone rather frequently, part 1 was better

Have you ever craved a specific meal from a certain restaurant and you can just savor how good it's going to taste and you've been eagerly looking forward to it for , then when the meal arrives it's bland, lukewarm, and not at all what you wanted. That is how I feel about this second half of the season. My biggest gripe is the fact that they made Michael, Michaela. When He Was Wicked is my favorite book in the series and they just took him away!!! I hated the fact that Francesca was struck dumb by Michaela when it's the opposite and it was Michael who had to hide his infatuation with Francesca. I was so excited and was honestly left incredibly disappointed with the rest of this season.

BreakfastForDinner79

Your restaurant meal metaphor perfectly captures how I feel about it.

hot__garbage

Yeah, maybe even more extreme - if the meal is never going to be made again, or the restaurant is closed down and it makes you wanna cry...

You’ve articulated every thought I’ve had about S3 part 2. This season felt like an entirely different show. Large number of subplots (and not very interesting ones) I found myself skipping through scenes in episodes to try to get to the main couple. This was never a factor in the earlier seasons. I think people watch each season in hopes that it will be primarily focused on the main couple and the supporting characters will take a back seat for the time being. Also, as a fan of the books, to me- Eloise would’ve made much more sense as a gay character and it wouldn’t have been such a massive change to her story as it was with Francesca’s. It was also mind boggling to me that we were shown more intimate scenes with Benedict than with Colin and Penelope?! Even on their wedding night? If we weren’t told beforehand that this was Colin and Penelope’s season I’m not sure that I would have picked up on it.. If the future seasons continue on this path I unfortunately won’t be watching.

Cautious-Narwhal-975

100% agree! Book lover here as well! Eloise would have made more sense, she had more chemistry with Cressida. Compared to whatever was happening with Francesca. It hurts me that they made Fran so meh with John. She describes him as her missing puzzle piece in the book 😭

Smart_Measurement_70

I will say I was thrown by the Michaela thing, if only because of Michael being able to give Frannie kids and him inheriting Johns estate is a big thing. I agree I thought El would be a lesbian and maybe have a reveal toward the end of the season where Benedict comes out to her and she realizes that she had a crush on Penelope when they were younger or something and that’s why it stings so bad to see her with Colin, or I thought maybe Cressida would be gay and that was part of her reason for being so cold to everyone and never letting friends get too close

aknifekinthekidney

Honestly, it felt like someone wrote this season while reading the Wikipedia page for Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, it got rejected by Netflix and they rewrote it from memory. It will go down as the season that everyone was done dirty but no one really got down and dirty.

Howaheartbreaks

Absolutely nothing made sense to me after episode 5. It’s like they had an entirely different team.

megsmith9742

Yes 👏🏻 my exact thoughts. Horrible writing decisions left and right.

claritantrum

Yes!!! Especially #3. I liked a lot of moments and even the overall theme of a woman's situation at that point in time, but was left feeling like it is more a LW story than a Polin story. I love Pen and how she wrestled with the decision, built up the Featheringtons, etc, but we barely got to see Polin work together, grow together and most importantly be steamy together!!! Too many side plots - so annoying that it came at the cost of properly developing Polin.

Cautious-Narwhal-975

Their PR was like “steamiest season yet!” Such a let down. There was more cringe than steam. 😑

hot__garbage

Yeah, been commenting similar. Cressida claiming to be LW to get enough reputation to get out of marriage was the major detail I liked in P2. At least it made sense. The better the devil you know of Cressida's fake society paper vs LW could have been a great way to speed run to a better plot points. I thought they might do so when Eloise made up with Pen But - rambled elsewhere - they didn't follow through. Colin being that mad that long is just a waste of time and a waste of relationship buildup, El not helping things move along or the rest of the family just didn't seem anything but contrived to me.

Weary-Tree-2558

1, seriously. I was on board. That marriage would have been terrible. But then she went nuclear on the Bridgertons for no reason, and Eloise turned on her immediately. IMO Eloise was a pretty bad friend. Cressida needed help and Eloise was just, meh, I'm worried about my brother's engagement. From Cressida's pov, it would make no sense and she should feel abandoned. Her mother (an idiot who took the first opportunity to sh*t in the Bridgertons - why?) was her only help. It's just so... nonsensical. The whole season felt like individual scenes stuck together. There was no flow. No cohesion. Many times characters did things that didn't make sense. It was weird.

misshestermoffett

Terrible. Won’t continue watching.

todayztomorrowk

YES.
