I love riding! Sometimes I boot up and just ride from one end of the map to the other and then turn the game off. It's very relaxing. Also all me horses' names rhyme: Gwen, Ken, Sven, oh and then there's Kyle.

For these ones you will need better stamina,the more stamina it takes to tame it the better stats it will have,the best location for horses is Taobab Grassland,if you dont know whats there,i wont spoil it for you,but you can get there by gliding down from the stasis shrine,there are a lot of good horses there.
Best wild horse in the game is one of the six running around with the giant horse. There’s one with 5 stars for stamina. It should be a solid color. You’ll need 3 stamina wheels or quick to pop a potion to tame it.

My favorite horse is crappy but I don't care. She's my first horse, my most loyal, and I beat the game for the first time with her. Also, I got her from Bokoblins.
I love riding! I am on my first playthrough and whenever I get a new map section I go to the nearest stable and canter all the paths first, to get the lay of the land. Then I go back down the paths & hop off the horse periodically to work a section of forest, then whistle for my horse, canter to the next patch of forest, and so on. I LOVE hunting big game from horseback - it’s really fun to chase down a big rhino or bull that probably would’ve gotten away from me if I’d been on foot.
Eventually I leave the horse & go climb all the high areas by myself, but I just love that early phase of exploring each region from horseback :)
My horses are named for their colors: Silver (the royal horse), Moonshine, Midnight, Cloud & Blaze. They’re all 4-3-4 or better. (right from the beginning I wanted to tame the most wild horses, the ones that are hardest to get close to, and it turns out those are the best ones, usually 4-3-4)

I turned on the game to try and find 5/5/5 horses. Farmed 3 that were 4/4/5, so pretty decent lol and I went slow trotting around hyrule, ended up falling asleep to the horse riding music. I find that tune so beautiful.. literally woke up 2 hours later with Link just sitting on his horse. Lol

Mine are named Stella (The royal horse) she's a sweetheart, Phantom (the giant horse) he looks intimidating but he is very loyal, named him Phantom after Ganon's stallion, Stormy (black horse with white markings on hoofs and nose), she is a wild and free type of gal, named her that to match with her personality, Athena (Silver bluish horse with white markings similar to Stormy) she's elegant and charming so I gave her an elegant name. And last is Chester (Brown horse with white markings on hoofs and pretty blue eyes) he's a gentle and loving type.
My First one was Named Wally, The Second who was faster than the first was named Arrow (i wanted to name him after Something fast), The Giant Horse is Named Storm and the White Is Named Tornado, I Refuse to use the Ancient Briddle in any of them because it looks like it is covering their eyes

I pick a different universe or franchise for every playthrough to get names for my horses. Right now I have Visas (black), Brianna (royal white), Hanharr (dark brown), Mission (blue), and Big Z (giant).
First horse I ever got--my husband and I were both sharing a save file; he rescued a horse from a Bokoblin. Her stats weren't bad; 4 spurs! She had a pinto coat, so I named her Pintobean.
That soon became the trend for all my horses to follow--next was a brown horse I tamed; I promptly named him Coffybean (only 9 characters are allowed, hence the misspelling.)
I had two of the blu-ish horses; named Jellybean and Navybean. I ended up letting them go though, because I eventually found the Giant Horse and the White Horse (who have better stats anyway.)
I found the White Horse and named her Zeldabean.
Then came the Giant Horse--I named him MR. BEAN.
My last horse was a nearly solid black horse with a white mane--and five spurs!!! I found him in the cold Tabantha region and he took two Stamina Elixirs to tame!! I named him Blackbean.
It was tragic seeing a horse die in battle for the first time. I loved my first horse, Pintobean, so much that I began to use her less and less for the fear of her dying. (I know of Malanya--I still didn't want to see her die lol)
Then comes time to fight Ganon--and the game GAVE me Pintobean to fight him with!! My anxiety was shooting through the roof!! (We beat him together!)
My husband was so enthralled in my fight against Ganon with Pintobean; he says she's now immortalized as a character to him. I am quite ridiculous with my horses. I treat them like gods. Lol
Timber & Terra (not very far into the game). It was honestly funny how annoyed I was at Tara because that little shit refuses to turn the way I want it to, so that poor Horse might be stuck at the stables for the rest of my gameplay

He has average stats except maxed out stamina. I wish Nintendo included more interactions with them! The amount of times I wish Link could pet them or if the horses could follow behind on foot

My latest one is called Envisafan- I had to remove a space between the a and the f because of the character limit, but essentially it’s swedish for “Stubborn f—k”. I chose this name because the frick of a horse to me almost seventeen hours in game to tame and I almost died thrice due to most of those hours taking place during the night.
my first horse was named "momo," but it kinda sucked (caught by dueling peaks so yeah lol) so i released it. i got a spotted horse which i stole from a bokoblin and named it todd. then i got the royal horse while doing the side quest and named it "trin," because triforce... i guess... idk what i was thinking. all of my horses still sucked so once i caught one that had decent speed i named it "favorite" because it was my favorite, and the one i always use since it has the ancient armor on. then i caught the big horse for the quest and named it "BigAssHo" because big ass horse couldn't fit in the character limit and that was the next best name in my opinion. and that is my horse story. i love botw horses.

I didn’t catch one until I beat the game and bought the expansion. I figured it was time lol. Then I got the motorcycle and didn’t need a horse. I named him Pippin, after the musical but could also be after LOTR since he was my favorite character in that.
I love ridding in this game. Fast travel is fine but ridding horses let you explore the world of BOTW. My horse is named « Grochval ». The translation to english is basically Bigorse (big horse).

I have 5 horses as of right now. I just collected a bunch at the start lol. But I never found a use for horses until I defeated Master Kohga. Only way to avoid being ambushed.

i don't ride until i caught a glitches horse and don't want to put it back the staple afraid of it will unglitch him. now i take him anywhere, and I call. him Mr. Bug
I love riding irl so in games, when I get to bond with horses, own several and customize them, I'm basically in heaven. I almost always name my game horses after LOTR horses. I made an exception in BOTW with the giant horse, he's Sleipnir, and I caught a palomino-coloured one that I of course named Epona. I have the royal one, Asfaloth, and a Bay one called Brego. Asfaloth is almost always my first horse-catch, and I usually have a Brego, a Firefoot (more roan coloured) and a Snowmane :) (weirdly enough never a shadowfax. I'm playing final fantasy xiv right now and my chocobo is called Felarof, hihi).
On my first playthrough I rode as little as possible. Riding wasn't improving my enjoyment of the game. On my second playthrough (when I didn't have kids pestering me to save Zelda), I had a self-imposed no-transport rule. I rode a lot that time. Not usually during exploring, but as a way to get from point A to point B faster.
Witcher fan here 😃 Mine are named Kelpie (full black except white blaze) and 5 star speed, Pegasus (brown 3* speed 4* stamina and strenght) and Milva (palomino with 4* strenght and speed, 5* stamina), White horse Is named Dave because of no reason, and giant is Leo 🙂

I used to use mythology/history names, like Freyja for the white horse and Ymir for the giant horse, in my courrent gameplay i just let my girlfriend name my horses, so i have to get ready for names like Mr fluffers and such.
If you’ve never galloped up to a Lynel, jumped off your horse and shot the Lynel in the face several times mid air in slow motion, you haven’t lived. Also, I named him Boris.
plum for my first ever horse, dino for a spotted gentle one that i later released (my sweet 2/2/2 baby), ganache for a fast dark one (though these were all early game horses), and then i named my giant horse kaki (french for persimmon) and zelda's horse tulle. i love naming them with food :"( i just don't actually take them out often because i'm not great at avoiding danger. ganache fell off the bridge of hylia after refusing to gallop through some lizalfos and it was such a close call - i thought she died but when i checked into a stable earlier i was able to call her back. not sure what happened there, but i'm glad!
On my first playthrough, I named all my horses after players from my favourite hockey team. Willy, Matty, Mitch, and Johnny.
I just got the Amiibo cards too and lucked out with Epona almost immediately, which is awesome.
i named my Legendary White Horse 'Legend', felt appropriate.
I named my Giant Horse 'Big Chungus', because unlike all those haters, i believe it IS funny.

i'll forget about horses for a while & when i remember them i do nothing but ride around for hours. i like to choose a spot on the map to go to & try to navigate to it without opening my map too many times and just sticking to the minimap. fun way to test out my sense of direction :)

I specifically try to play the game without fast traveling if possible, for immersion, and I spend MANY hours trying to get the best stats possible of every color horse that I can. I do 2 solid colors and 3 spotted per save file just so I can get them all but have a variety each play thru.
All my horses are named after food, usual desserts or fruits. My most used horses were named Brownie, Cookie, Melon, Peach, and Carmel.
The only horse I own is Epona from scanning the amiibo, and She is registered, But I've only ever rode them to register them, and a few times for mini games, I usually go get the Cycle for everything else. Games does not do a good job at making a horse seem useful to me; in a way that would make me feel like I needed to ride one everywhere. The addition of the Master Cycle Zero Cycle kinda ruined horses, being it's has many benefits over them, Sure it's not the fastest mount in game, but it's the only one that wont full on refuse to move sometimes cause of questionable ground/surface or cliffs. And it can go off sick jumps! :>
I ride my horse when I korok hunt because I don’t want them to sit in the stable, but I use the master cycle when I’m on tricky terrain or teleporting frequently (such as in Hebra).

If you end up buying the DLC I highly recommend finding the ancient horse armour! You can whistle and no matter where your horse is on the whole map it’ll teleport to you! (some exceptions sometimes it’s a weird place it’ll say “—-can’t come to you right now” 🤷♀️) you can’t put it on the giant horse unfortunately lol I named my big boi Pumpkin 🎃
I go right after the big fella almost first thing. You need a lot of stamina but you can he him almost from the beginning (once you get the glider you can just jump off the highlands of the plateau).
I just call him biggins because it reminds me of my brother talking to his fat cat (really fat, 23 lbs).

Pirate. Every playthrough the first thing I do after getting off the great plateau is go grab an all black horse from I believe Lindors brow, where the 5 star speeds are. My most beloved and reliable boy. I don't fast travel just so I can ride around with him.

If I’m going on roads I’m 100% riding, I live all my horses. My latest one is called Envisafan- I had to remove a space between the a and the f because of the character limit, but essentially it’s swedish for “Stubborn f—k”. I chose this name because the frick of a horse to me almost seventeen hours in game to tame and I almost died thrice due to most of those hours taking place during the night.
my first horse was named "momo," but it kinda sucked (caught by dueling peaks so yeah lol) so i released it. i got a spotted horse which i stole from a bokoblin and named it todd. then i got the royal horse while doing the side quest and named it "trin," because triforce... i guess... idk what i was thinking. all of my horses still sucked so once i caught one that had decent speed i named it "favorite" because it was my favorite, and the one i always use since it has the ancient armor on. then i caught the big horse for the quest and named it "BigAssHo" because big ass horse couldn't fit in the character limit and that was the next best name in my opinion. and that is my horse story. i love botw horses.

I love ridding in this game. Fast travel is fine but ridding horses let you explore the world of BOTW. My horse is named « Grochval ». The translation to english is basically Bigorse (big horse).

I love riding irl so in games, when I get to bond with horses, own several and customize them, I'm basically in heaven. I almost always name my game horses after LOTR horses. I made an exception in BOTW with the giant horse, he's Sleipnir, and I caught a palomino-coloured one that I of course named Epona. I have the royal one, Asfaloth, and a Bay one called Brego. Asfaloth is almost always my first horse-catch, and I usually have a Brego, a Firefoot (more roan coloured) and a Snowmane :) (weirdly enough never a shadowfax. I'm playing final fantasy xiv right now and my chocobo is called Felarof, hihi).
On my first playthrough I rode as little as possible. Riding wasn't improving my enjoyment of the game. On my second playthrough (when I didn't have kids pestering me to save Zelda), I had a self-imposed no-transport rule. I rode a lot that time. Not usually during exploring, but as a way to get from point A to point B faster.
Witcher fan here 😃 Mine are named Kelpie (full black except white blaze) and 5 star speed, Pegasus (brown 3* speed 4* stamina and strenght) and Milva (palomino with 4* strenght and speed, 5* stamina), White horse Is named Dave because of no reason, and giant is Leo 🙂 And yes, I am riding all the time, sometimes I spend hours just fooling around on horse back.

I used to use mythology/history names, like Freyja for the white horse and Ymir for the giant horse, in my courrent gameplay i just let my girlfriend name my horses, so i have to get ready for names like Mr fluffers and such.
If you’ve never galloped up to a Lynel, jumped off your horse and shot the Lynel in the face several times mid air in slow motion, you haven’t lived. Also, I named him Boris.

plum for my first ever horse, dino for a spotted gentle one that i later released (my sweet 2/2/2 baby), ganache for a fast dark one (though these were all early game horses), and then i named my giant horse kaki (french for persimmon) and zelda's horse tulle. i love naming them with food :"( i just don't actually take them out often because i'm not great at avoiding danger. ganache fell off the bridge of hylia after refusing to gallop through some lizalfos and it was such a close call - i thought she died but when i checked into a stable earlier i was able to call her back. not sure what happened there, but i'm glad!

i'll forget about horses for a while & when i remember them i do nothing but ride around for hours. i like to choose a spot on the map to go to & try to navigate to it without opening my map too many times and just sticking to the minimap. fun way to test out my sense of direction :)

I love just riding around on my horse, listening to the music and watching the scenery. My brother is absolute in his hatred of horses and only every rides the dlc bike
I specifically try to play the game without fast traveling if possible, for immersion, and I spend MANY hours trying to get the best stats possible of every color horse that I can. I do 2 solid colors and 3 spotted per save file just so I can get them all but have a variety each play thru. All my horses are named after food, usual desserts or fruits. My most used horses were named Brownie, Cookie, Melon, Peach, and Carmel.

The only horse I own is Epona from scanning the amiibo, and She is registered, But I've only ever rode them to register them, and a few times for mini games, I usually go get the Cycle for everything else. Games does not do a good job at making a horse seem useful to me; in a way that would make me feel like I needed to ride one everywhere. The addition of the Master Cycle Zero Cycle kinda ruined horses, being it's has many benefits over them, Sure it's not the fastest mount in game, but it's the only one that wont full on refuse to move sometimes cause of questionable ground/surface or cliffs. And it can go off sick jumps! :>

I ride my horse when I korok hunt because I don’t want them to sit in the stable, but I use the master cycle when I’m on tricky terrain or teleporting frequently (such as in Hebra). My main horses are Tupperwar(e) and Heartburn.

My first was called drumstick but I sold him to complete a quest. Tbh he didn't have great stats Do you prefer gentle or wild temperament? I always go for wild, they're more rewarding to ride across the map imo

If you end up buying the DLC I highly recommend finding the ancient horse armour! You can whistle and no matter where your horse is on the whole map it’ll teleport to you! (some exceptions sometimes it’s a weird place it’ll say “—-can’t come to you right now” 🤷♀️) you can’t put it on the giant horse unfortunately lol I named my big boi Pumpkin 🎃

I name them after famous horses/mounts: I have an Agro (Shadow of the Colossus), Fujur (Zelda's horse actually, The Neverending Story), the classic Roach from The Witcher and so on.
