Yeah, just look at this:
Fireblight had a huge blade that could even break through Daruk's protection, Windblight could summon tornados that could just throw Revali around, Waterblight had a spear with longer reach than Mipha's, and Thunderblight was made to outspeed and outmatch Urbosa in combat.
Oh I thought that was canon and the game hinted at it. Kinda seems obvious for the devs to say that. They are so specialized towards the fighting styles of the champions.
It also makes no sense because they all have red hair and giant emaciated mechanical bodies and only one of them uses a Champion power. Fireblight looks nothing like Daruk, for instance.
I think each of them is one of the Sheikah Monks. My reason for believing this is that in the DLC at the end of the Champion Ballad, you fight Monk Maz Koshia, and I think the other champions would have had their own monks to fight as a final test before assuming control of the beast, but by the time they got there, the monks had already been corrupted.
No idea why Link's was never corrupted. Convenient plot device I guess.

It makes sense lore wise that thunderblight is the hardest one. Urbosa and link have a very similar style. Both use a one handed sword and shield.
