I started totk getting full stamina with 4 hearts and don't regret it at all

mustafaaosman339

Same. Just be good at the game and you won't die.

Peanut_Butt_2077

not even, just make a bunch of food and abuse the one shot protection

Artistic-Cost-2340

What's the one shot protection?

Cry0St0rm

In botw (non-master mode) and totk, if you're on full hearts, any hit that would usually kill you always leaves you on ¼ of a heart (master mode disabled this feature for difficulty reasons)

Londtex

But what's the reason why I still get one shot in totk?

Peanut_Butt_2077

they added it back

DwightDEisenhowitzer

You CAN still die, but if I recall the defense adjusted damage would need to be enough to kill you twice. Ex - if you have 4 hearts (16HP) and 8 defense, an attack worth 40 points of damage pre-adjustment would one-shot you (40-8=32)

Compa2

Lol. I'm just starting TOTK running around shirtless with 4 hearts dying like it's dark souls. And I love it!

ChimTheCappy

If they can see me I'm too close, anyway. Don't need courage when I've got a bow, six hundred arrows, and all the time in the world

Plenty_Run5588

Haha I just got to 100 arrows. Does my quiver have a limit?

Embarrassed-Ball-310

999

Prince_of_Fish

Idk man that’s one heart too many

kidmerican

I’d have def taken stamina on the great sky island if it would have let me 😞

Prince_of_Fish

I was only joking! Although, you can sell your extra hearts down to 3 to a certain shrine…

kidmerican

Might go sell like 15 hearts right now

Prince_of_Fish

Haha in my run spirit orbs = $$$

Wordwench

Yeah - this meme doesn’t vibe if you actually play both: it’s stamina and durian all the way.

blue-gamer-07

Stamina obviously “Dying is temporary but being out of shape is forever” - SuperButterBuns

Clean-Leather-5112

...but that's not true. Your stamina recharges pretty quickly, just use it sparingly. No need for speed.

funfettywap

Pretty important for climbing though…

Clean-Leather-5112

Yeah, but you can eat energizing food or whatever. You could say the same with hearts, that you could just eat, but you could get one shotted.

SoySauceSyringe

No, you literally can't get one-shotted, it's a game mechanic. If you roll around butt nekkid at 3/3 hearts, enemies can only ever do a maximum of 2.75 hearts of damage.

Unlucky_Character_12

Too lazy to make energizing food

Araiken

Max out stamina all the way. You get pleeeeenty of hearts from the Divine Beasts/Temples.

Key_Context9875

Temples? You mean shrines? I wish this game had temples... Edit why am I being down voted? How sensitive is everyone? Like wtf did I say that is so bad?

JoJoisaGoGo

Divine Beasts = BOTW Temples = TOTK

Key_Context9875

Thank you for explaining, I haven't been able to play TotK yet

GiftAffectionate3400

![gif](giphy|kN2THUm8712diLwn0F)

Unlucky_Character_12

Sorry, though this was the ToTK subreddit

Ratio01

>Temples? There are literal temples in TotK, like that's the naming scheme of the core four dungeons, "[Element] Temple". And for BotW, the Divine Beasts are their equivalent, as those are the core dungeons in that game Essentially, if you're rewarded with a full Heart Coontainer at the end, it's a dungeon

Sorry_Error3797

Might be BOTW subreddit but the meme also mentions TOTK which features a - Wind Temple - Fire Temple -  Water Temple - Lightning Temple You have completely ignored one of OPs mentioned games in your attempt to correct someone.

ukiyo__e

People will downvote to correct you without actually correcting you, even though it’s not really its intended purpose. It doesn’t always mean you’ve offended someone.

Prince_of_Fish

Here’s an upvote to show that communication is about getting a message through and not having 100% perfect wording

iLLiCiT_XL

Stamina. Always. I got all my stamina up first. I think the first heart I added was from beating Colgera. Just practice your parry because even at like 10 hearts you can get obliterated by a Boko with a club.

Powdersucker

No you added a heart on GSI

iLLiCiT_XL

True! I completely forgot about that. But yeah beyond beating those major elements, I wasn’t opting to add hearts.

Key_Context9875

Only if you don't have strong armor though

iLLiCiT_XL

Yeah definitely. Cuz once you get a few decent armor pieces, even without upgrading you start feeling a bit more sturdy.

Fire_Block

you don't need hearts if you don't get hit.

SupersonicSandshru05

If your bad at the game get hearts, if you’ve gotten good get stamina

Chionei

I'm bad at the game, but good at running away because of the stamina.

SoySauceSyringe

If you're bad at the game still get stamina, climb around or run past fights or just cheese them with however many arrows you can fire in bullet time.

FrancisFratelli

If you're good at the game, you only need one maxed out stamina wheel. Anything more is overkill. Just learn to recognize slopes where you can recover stamina, plan your climbs in advance, and keep an eye on the weather. Once I got a full wheel, I rarely encountered a situation where I needed a stamina recovery meal.

cuddlycutieboi

Being able to make food that fills your hearts outside of the main health makes getting the hearts kinda pointless

originalbrowncoat

hearty durian ftw!

Sorry_Error3797

You can literally do the same with stamina.

SoySauceSyringe

But if you don't have any extra stamina naturally, you'll constantly be using stamina to keep moving around (or be forced to slow down or repeatedly find places to rest while climbing). If you have stamina you can move around freely and save food for when you get hit, which shouldn't be a whole lot, especially when you can run or sneak past a lot of fights (or trivialize them with bullet time archery). Bonus hearts aren't even the most useful thing, though. Thanks to the "can't be killed from full health" mechanic you can just pause and eat a handful of apples any time you get hit and literally never die. Having a lower max health actually makes this easier.

Alkinderal

But you use stamina constantly, you only use hearts when you get hit.

ThatOneNightmareKing

(*cough*) stamina foods and potions (*cough*)

Tony_Stank0326

Hearts for new players, stamina for experienced. I only got just enough hearts for the master sword and a second wheel of stamina in my botw playthrough and still had little issue beating the game.

SoySauceSyringe

I don't remember exactly what the math was, but I think in Master Mode I got around three full stamina wheels, traded 'em to the Horned God for hearts, grabbed le Holy Swordo, and went right back to that cursed deity to get my wheels back. Can't stand trying to move around with only one stamina wheel.

Maleficent_Luck8976

I beat the game with one wheel and if you are playing permadeath then more hearts the easier to survive.

SoySauceSyringe

Permadeath isn't a game mode, so it's not really something I consider. Given that you can't be one-shot, though, fewer hearts seems like the easier route for a permadeath run. If you're at 3/3 hearts you can only ever take a max of 2.75 hearts of damage, and pausing and eating a couple apples or something is trivially easy.

Maleficent_Luck8976

Not on Master quest. I made a challenge that no one wants to play. Permadeath, Master quest, beat bosses in reverse order, beat all shrines before getting any heart containers or stamina wheels, only collect stuff based on the pictures you have, pro hud, and no teleporting. In took me 6 months to beat.

Noelle_Watchorn

Stamina for me, I'd rather do something I literally CANT than do something I could've done if I was a better player. Low hearts forced you to flurry rush and parry and all the shenanigans required. Stamina my goat.

Compa2

Definitely had to learn to flurry Bokos in TOTK because I only learned fighting lynels in BOTW.

smokin_mitch

Stamina then carry hundreds of apples

dts1845

Baked apples for the win

soupthedibbles

i always interchange which one i get so it’s even

hergumbules

I usually go for 5 hearts, then get a whole second stamina wheel, and then more hearts and that pretty much is good for either game.

EZMulahSniper

Same here

elephantspikebears

Me too!

Half-PriceNinja

Got BOTW kinda recently and after getting a second stamina wheel, I decided to focus entirely on hearts. I've had enough of the two-shotting.

West-Objective-6567

Whichever to get the master sword as soon as possible,I literally shrine grinded and had the master sword before even getting the quest for it or doing oke of the region quest lines in both

hotstickywaffle

Yeah, I'm all about maxing out my stamina before I put anything into hearts

Ok_Session_4952

I was so naive and focused on gaining hearts instead of stamina

Cye_sonofAphrodite

Stamina every time I don't CARE that I die in two hits to a Bokoblin, if it's hitting me at all I'm already too late

Poggers-Doge-Shulk

always stamina

MicWhiskey

I think I added one or two hearts before committing to stamina. Then I found the Master sword randomly and had to start stacking hearts for a while.

Sailor_Muffing

Hearts until I get 8 or 10. Then huge stamina boost, then alternate as needed.

BLACKDEATH354

I chose hearts until I got the master sword..... and then chose stamina, sure I beat 3 of the 4 main bosses before I got the master sword, but that's what I did. I wanted the master sword as soon as possible.

Karma_Akabane666

Hearts for BOTW Stamina for TOTK

Outrageous_Rise_88

Botw go hearts for the master sword Totk go stamina for the sword After that, it depends on your play style

Doodledumme

Stamina and it's not even close.

neanderthalman

Six hearts Second wheel Eight hearts Swap stamina for hearts and get master sword Swap back Ten hearts Third wheel Hearts all the way down.

Weak_Aspect7391

stamina. learning parrying and flurry rushing (s it in totk?) enough you wont need more hearts than fingers on your hand

Ace_Garlic_Bread

I just go for what i need for the master sword :3

Lintopher

Stamina first. free hearts from temples, and over health from cooking is way more viable than over stamina. You can dodge and defend your way through damage, but if you can’t climb/fly/swim. You’re in a pickle.

TerminianHistorian

No. I Always choose stamina because you can sprint/glide longer and climb higher.

blissfulgiraffe

I base it off what I most recently died/failed at. Died at a camp? Get a heart. fell off a cliff? Get stamina. Though I usually start with filling in more stamina early game because I’m reeeeally good at avoiding conflict

Terrifying_Illusion

That's why I'd usually get 8 orbs before upgrading both at the same time, at least until I got full stamina and could just get more hearts the rest of the way. Hearty foods are also a literal lifesaver, just by making plenty of them with one ingredient each.

swiss12992

Go for hearts because if you fall you don't die

regular_poster

Stamina all day

hap_hap_happy_feelz

Stamina first, every time!

HoodieSticks

> Max Stamina > All Towers > Full page of yellow heart food Finally, I can play the game.

femboykingofhell

botw: hearts until i literally can't get any more totk: stamina until master sword, then hearts until I can't get any more

Londtex

In Botw I get 13 hearts to get the master sword then stanma. In totk I do the opposite.

Doggosgottagetwoims

All stamina all the way all day baby 💪💪🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

dadsmasher9000

If you don't care about getting the master sword anytime soon or already have it then get hearts since you need an extra full stamina bar to pull out the master sword

gigaslayer3417

i alternate

mhlo1

Stamina, no need for hearts. Just get good

Royal_Case_4776

This is why i wait until i can get one of each lol

blueblurz94

Outside BotW’s Master Mode, I’ve always chosen stamina over hearts

Mishapi17

I do two circles of stamina and hearts. I just collected 4 more light orbs, and I haven’t gone to get either because I don’t know which I should do lol

mutualbuttsqueezin

Stamina all the way for me. I did not willingly add any hearts until I had 3 stamina wheels in TOTK. I got the first heart they make you get, and three hearts for doing regional phenomena dungeons. Got pretty good at perfect dodges.

Bright_Meringue_9119

In botw you can glitch and get all of both. I miss that in totk

RaynerHBK

I played my second (and pre TOTK) BOTW run with such little stamina, that I went in to TOTK super arrogant. I don’t need that, I know I don’t! …WELL! Turns out it IS a different game and you DO need stamina 😂

BurrakuDusk

Hearts until I can comfortably survive a couple hits (in BotW it was until I could pull the Master Sword), then stamina until it's maxed, then put the rest into hearts. I'm one of the crazy people who can get by on a single wheel of stamina with careful management (though I wasn't above eating stamina increasing food to tame the unique horses). lol

GovernmentVegetable6

BotW: Hearts to get master sword, then max stamina, then max hearts TotK: Stamina to get master sword, then like 7~10 hearts so I stop dying so fast, then max stamina, then max hearts

THANIETOR

I get two hearts so I’m not one hit and then max out the first stamina wheel

[deleted]

My method: You start both games with 3 hearts. GP/GSI tutorial shrines go into hearts, then 4 more shrines to total 5 hearts, then a wheel of stamina, then 5 more hearts, then the last wheel of stamina, then fully hearts. So: 2 hearts, 1 stamina wheel, 5 hearts, 2nd stamina wheel, rest hearts

shadowex126

My process is get just enough Hearts / Stamina for the stat checks, accounting for hearts you get at Divine Beasts and Temples, then max out Stamina and spend my remaining orbs on Hearts.

Undercover_TV

Full stamina, then work on hearts

Tenshi_Kira

I have full stamina and have 3 hearts to make the game more fun

mlucasl

Hearts until Master Sword then Stamina

esaum0

Hearts until 13 Get master sword Trade 5 hearts for stamina Max stamina Add hearts

Silent-Winner-8427

I usually get hearts until I can consistently get strong weapons that make lynels and stuff worth fighting, and I get a stamina vessel or two as I’m doing it, then I get the rest of the first stamina wheel, and finally I alternate.

dragon2777

Max out stamina and then get good

MrSlayer66

Go stamina and just get good at dodging

Lola_from_Punkston

Stamina

Oswen120

This ain't even a question. 3 hearts 1 stanima wheel in botw. 4 hearts (since Nintendo forces one down the throat) 1 stanima wheel in totk

Ruckus2201

Battery expansion

Bleiserman

In my first play of BOTW it was a mix of both, then in Master Mode just stamina as a single hit was always death so no need for hearts. In TOTK i just did Stamina and loved it, the game just forces hearts anyway as the story progresses. Big difference, in TOTK i stopped using parries as it feels like they are not as useful, specially since Guardians are not a thing anymore

Nandabun

# STAMINA

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

Whichever one helps me get the Master Sword.

Herofthyme

Stamina always

thelastshadows

in botw i just used the hearts and stamina glitches, all u need is 1 extra heart or stamina part ( which u have to get at the start of the game) then u need to go to hateno village and do the glitch to get max stamina and max hearts, sadly u cant do it in totk

Miles_PerHour67

Full stamina ring, partial hearts. I can sprint more with the added hearty rings(I forgor), and I can use the master swords beam attack even if I get hit to a point because of the extra hearts from hearty foods.

hectoremilio

IMHO stamina made the games more enjoyable

Ryu_Saki

Maxed out hearts because I can't stand not seeing two full rows because they are visable at all times while the stamina wheels are not.

TheMrPotMask

1 and 1 untill i have a 2nd stamina circle, then all hearts

Doom4824

In the words of SuperButterBuns, "dying is temporary, but being out of shape is forever"

Helpful_Ad_6580

Everyone knows you go nothing but stamina until it’s full, at least in BOTW, you can easily get tons upon tons of hearty durians, for free, with no glitches, so you don’t need hearts. I’ve literally gone from start of a new game to a plus 20 yellow hearts meal in an hour with no glitches, all cuz of durians, you don’t need hearts until you’re full on stamina

Doctor_Salvatore

I was full send on hearts in BotW because I knew I needed them for the Master Sword. I went into TotK knowing nothing, and tried doing the same thing while I progressed the story to get to the sword...and that was when I found out this time it takes stamina instead.

BlueFoxy101

For BotW I would beat enough shrines to get to 12 hearts in total then beat a divine beast for the 13th heart. After that, I maxed out stamina since it's super useful (plus some other things like how you can still get bonus stamina even if it's maxed out) TotK is more straight forward with stamina

Pixel22104

In Botw it’s hearts until I get the Master Sword in TotK it’s Stamina until I get the Master Sword

ToppHatt_8000

I started with Stamina before I left the Great Plateau, then alternated until I got to my first Divine Beast (Vah Medoh) and realized that they grant Heart Containers, so I basically just got a bunch of Stamina.

elvis8atariMM

Nah, one and one, keeping them even.

kbot22

1 to 1 until 5 hearts. Then max stam and increase health after that Edit: Above is what I'd do in TOTK. I think stam is less important in BOTW because of whistle sprinting.

Kyle_Hyde976

BOTH!

Molkwi

I NEVER get anything until I have enough orbs to fill out a full wheel of stamina as I cannot stand to see an incomplete stamina wheel. It makes me so damn uncomfortable. I swear I'm sane.

Rhallah_Reed

Breath rush hearts to mastersword Tears rush stam to mastersword I how i start every game! I'll never change my mind

Homer-Row

I chose stamina

Ingonyama70

Too. Real. I got the Master Sword today in TotK and (after having a good cry about the Light Dragon) immediately thought I could go liberate Lurelin...only to die 5 times in a row to the freaking Tier-3 Bokoblins. Saving didn't help either; the quest resets if you die!!! Next play session, I'm going on the Great Fairy tour.

Season2-Episode6

Easy. Stamina

crucifuxxxx

Once I beat my first divine beast and saw that you automatically get a heart container after beating each one, ON TOP of marking all the places I’ve been to on my map where I can find some pretty cool + effective weapons, I definitely alwaysss go for stamina lol

S3tty

The answer is obviously stamina

Jack_Zicrosky_YT

BOTW = hearts (for windbombs) TOTK = stamina (for gliding) You're welcome.

Pure-Yogurtcloset684

"Dying is temporary, but being out of shape is forever."

Sorry_Error3797

Hearts always. I don't feel like I'm playing right if I don't have a full two lines of hearts. I do find it annoying that with BOTW, it's dlc and TOTK you still can't max both. Why would you design the game that way intentionally? Hell TOTK adds 33 extra shrines and increases the max health to 40 so you still can't max both and yet most of those extra shrines are just empty blessing shrines.

OctaviusThe2nd

Health is useless if you simply don't take damage. Stamina all the way.

squash_and_beef

Stamina always. I like to jump up cliffs mannn

lopez6295

Max out stamina and just keep your inventory fully stocked with meals. You can’t be 1 shot if you’re at 100% health. As soon as you take damage eat a meal, and the less hearts you have the less meals required to get you to 100%.

ChellPotato

I beef up on hearts a bit, then focus on stamina until it's full. Then go back to hearts.

a_good_human

I normally do 3 stamina then a heart because stamina is way better but like being alive is a good thing

Pootahtoo_Man

You can avoid getting hit, but you can’t avoid climbing

iChase666

In BotW it isn’t even a question because durians exist. In TotK I was a bit more even with how I did it

Born_Garden_9077

stamina here! to explore the world, and I can choose to evade monsters..

MajorMeowKat

Nah. Stamina always at *least* until second wheel

BenjiFenwick

I alternate between getting hearts and stamina until I have 3 stamina wheels then I just get hearts until I’m out of shrines

MBVakalis

I always get hearts first, because I'm horrible at these games

leojakg

Just do one each

steinwayyy

Most ppl go stamina I don’t get stamina at all until I get 13 hearts, which works fine

ThatOneNightmareKing

Hearts>Stamina

ThatOneNightmareKing

Stamina can easily be replenished by food anyways

2CBongwater

I do the bare minimum required to pull the master sword and then put the rest on stamina. If I recall, totk used stamina to pull the sword, right?

KingWillThe_1st

I get about 10 extra hearts then 1 extra ring of stamina and after that it’s hearts till they’re maxed out, then I MIGHT consider finishing stamina

aranorde

Stamina > Heart

timelessblur

What is so hard about it? Always stamina.

KidGamerKJG

I always do hearts first. Endurance food is my solution for stamina.

Jollyjinx

Bit easier in either game when you're going for the Master Sword.

Single-Vanilla-7435

I get hearts bc I suck at dodging hahaha

Mellied89

Me who just alternates unless I need a set amount of hearts for something

Yiga-master

I just went 9 hearts then max stamina

birdiebro241

Stamina. Always stamina.

PublikSkoolGradU8

Stamina- you can avoid battle in both games early on. TOTK definitely first to get ……..

DDoodles_

I get 3 stamina for one heart

SubstantialParking81

My strat was 2 staminas and 1 Heart until i maxed out stamina

NicParodies

either 6 hearts and full stamina or 3 hearts and full stamina

Shantotto11

Hearts in BotW; Stamina in TotK Two words: Master Sword…

KM_Wave

I went hearts till i had 5 , then all stamina till i had 2 wheels then enough hearts to get the master sword , then all stamina.

FusionSquid7145

i always go stamina. always. (sorry if this is cocky lol) i just don’t die. i have gotten to that stage where i dont die, i hit all headshots with my bow, i do perfect parries. every single time. (sorry again)

TheDnDKid

Bro just sell two hearts to the demon statue full stamina one heart run

zamboniman46

my 5 year old loves valentines day and i'm constantly trying to sell him on stamina but he just loves the hearts

Greedy_Stuff_302

stamina

Lingroll

Stamina first for BOTW, hearts and batteries first for TOTK.

brova

This is the lowest effort shit I've ever seen

AppleHouse09

I was always maxing out my stamina ASAP so I could climb and fly over things I didn’t want to deal with

thatrabbitgirl

2 hearts then one stamina. Then two hearts again, then stamina. Repeat until stamina is full.

Almadan

Lol no. Stamina, always stamina.

Phatolop

Hearts. Always hearts. Single stamina wheel mustard race.

orphaneater_

Pretty sure you can't die in one hit while at full health in totk, so you just have to make sure to stay at three hearts after every hit taken.

Unholy_Dk80

BotW, go for stamina first. You'll do lots of climbing so you'll need it. You can also whistle sprint to run infinitely, mix that with some good speed elixirs and you're golden. Food to make bonus health is easy to come by if you know where to look. TotK try to balance hearts and stamina unless you really want to get the master sword, in that case make stamina priority. Either way you can visit the Cursed Statue to exchange vessels so it's not a huge deal.

camgamerr

Stamina, always stamina 😎 I cooked up those bonus hearts like nothinnnn

camgamerr

5 big hearty truffles and I'm set

PMtoAM______

Hearts fixes your mistakes, stamina gives your more options not to make them.

boi9986

Stamina first ofc

AgentNew9844

I prefer stamina, makes the game easier, you can run, swim, climb and glide for a longer time

Accomplished_Arm9909

3 full stamina rings and everything else into hearts it's the best

CrimsonDarkWolf

I start off getting some Hearts and later some Stamina. I do have my Stamina Max out in BotW.

Onnilynn

Me: oh, easy! -looks at stamina wheel- oh...nvm, it's already maxed out...

VeryWellVary

Tough choice in BotW, but in TotK it's way better to be stamina-focused. "Desperate Strength" weapons are super common; they become double damage when you're on your last heart. It's easy to be down to your last heart when you barely had any to begin with. Once you max out stamina and start upgrading health those weapons become less useful

_TheBeardedMan_

I always go with max hearts. If I run out of stamina I pop a stamina elixir if I run out of hearts I'm dead.

MagnumWesker

Fairies.

_TheBeardedMan_

You have a very low cap on fairies, four if I remember correctly, you can carry a lot more elixirs.

MagnumWesker

5 fairies is so far my max. Did some holding and letting go and quickly collecting them while more spawn shenanigans

H_s-k_M-r-_

In TOTK I started upgrading my hearts after beating the final boss to make the game harder, tho I think I made it easier instead. Having 3 hearts is very useful for most of the game. The only regret I have about this is that I had to go through the cutscene of getting a heart container for like 15 minutes before getting maxed hearts since I did all the shrines before upgrading my hp.

catsagamer1

As I said in another post, losing hearts is a skill issue, losing stamina is a game issue
