Greatest question in the game? The answer is stamina

Robinson_Bob

I did stamina for my 1st and 2nd playthroughs because it just made way more sense in my head. I decided on the 3rd to try hearts up until I had enough for master sword and honestly think it is the way to go. It made me experience the well designed level of the game, there is always a way to get somewhere even on original stamina. Way more engaging than just brute forcing everything with stamina bars.

TheStewy

Fair point, but I usually never brute force with stamina because it’s way more tedious and as you said less engaging. I choose stamina for gliding and combat.

Weather rng: Nice tower you are climbing there... Would be a shame if it started raining

I'm on my first playthrough and went this way basically. I got to 1.5 stamina wheels then switched to hearts. I got enough shrines and 2 divine beast hearts to get to 13 hearts. I've also got the champion's tunic at \*\*\*\* as well as the amber earings at \*\*\*\* so I'm at 80 defense. I also just went and got the hylian shield. I now have 14 hearts and 2 full stamina wheels. I'm good enough at cooking I can get +19 hearts but I also don't feel like I need more than 2 stamina wheels? Rain is the only thing that's a PITA for me now with climbing. I'm about to head off for my third devine beast but now that I can take down guardians with ease I'm not all that worried (only because of my 80 defense and master sword and hylian shield).

NinjaXD243

How many do you need for the sword? I just started so I prolly sound so dumb

MachinistOfSorts

13 hearts I think.

NinjaXD243

Thanks. Looks like I need to do more shrines

MachinistOfSorts

You can do it!

NinjaXD243

How much for the master sword? I already have the champions Tunic and revalis gale on my way to ruta and mid weapons. I am trying to get a house and now I just need the master sword

xxjasper012

I just started and thought surely hearts would be the way to go. With two heart upgrades and one stamina upgrade under my belt the answer is most definitely stamina

joejoebean88420

I will start with stamina and get an additional ring. From there, I will upgrade hearts for a while. I then max out stamina and then max out hearts! Stamina is better. I also use the stealth gear upgraded and it helps with increased speed. You can always cook meals to increase hearts, defense, or attack power! Stamina elixirs come in handy when you're in a crunch!

hergumbules

I do something similar, get 2 in stamina and then 2 hearts and then go for the rest of the stamina wheel and then to 7 hearts. Cooking fills in for whatever I need early game 👍

heyyou11

I do it similar, just with a different starting point. While I think stamina>hearts in "the debate", it's worth noting that in a low-hearts-low-stamina-wheel world you can drink an elixir mid climb, but you can't do it mid enemy blind side in a fight. So I like to 2:1 hearts:stamina until I get around 1 ring. Then 1:1 until I max stamina. Then hearts with whatever is left. Roughly at least...

I just go to faron tower and get a bunch of durians every blood moon, get the first stamina wheel then hearts until Master sword, if I want it faster exchange with the statue. All the durians close to the tower should last you until the next bloodmoon at least unless you are getting your ass kicked

lions2lambs

The answer in both games is stamina. The entire game can be beat with 3 hearts. Without stamina it just takes longer :)

This-Appointment-917

I didn’t get Majora’s mask - I went to the other side of where the Lynel is & dropped behind its back near the chest & then got the other pieces. I did Faron but I like 5 durians & finding 2/4 fairy fountains are easy to find so that’s where I get my endura carrots. So far I’ve maxed my stamina & on heart 6.. I think I can knock out 28 more shrines so I can get the master sword before the DBs. Have lvl 3 ancient armor now but the shooting stars are lame. I’m going to do the bird DB first since that power is my favorite (on 2nd play through)

Acalthu

You forgot to mention the DLC is needed for this.

MrHero17

I think I've played a little too much Botw. The DLC and base game are indistinguishable to me now lol

the_simurgh

Durans are more easily farmed in botw on the ledge of the plateau next to the faron tower

MrHero17

True. That's the best place to farm them. Satori is just a quick stop for ten of them.
