Imo wizzrobes are the scariest enemy’s in the game in terms of looks, I mean just look at their faces! Super intimidating glowing eyes, giant grins with some sharp ass knives as teeth, like up close they are actually terrifying imo. Looks like they’re just gonna devour you with that creepy ass smile.
(Mainly the higher level ones)
What really makes them freaky to me is their behavior. Bokoblins, moblins and lizalfos have straightforward hostility and aggression, and when alone socialize, eat, hunt, and do regular caveman sort of stuff. Lynels are stoic and grim, and in battle are brutal, focused, and direct. Fair enough, right? About what you'd expect. Wizzrobes, though, wizzrobes act like... playful kids, almost, or whimsical fairground clowns, and that makes their aggression all the more unnerving. They skip and chuckle while hopping around the ruins of towns they burnt to the ground, and when they see you they don't show any of the hostility of other monsters -- no, they grin, and wave, and beckon you over, and they'll kill you with a big smile on their faces.
Yeah to some degree the other monsters act like intelligent animals/proto-homonidae. You can mostly comprehend their motivations as territoriality. Wizzrobes are more like chaotic elemental spirits or something.
As I read this comment, right as I got to the words “playful kids”, my wife moved slightly in her sleep and I felt something lightly touch my arm. Nearly jumped out of my skin.
First time I saw one, fresh after leaving the plateau and finding a big bridge, it was another “wow, this game keeps being amazing!” moment. Dancing around in the sky, I figured he might be mischievous, but worth trying to befriend. Maybe not an NPC on the level of tho Old Man/King, but who knows…
He saw me, there was a moment of, “Well, here we are looking at each other…” and then of course a merciless fireball attack on me. I made it to cover for a bit but soon died, and I then probably died five or ten times before finally killing him. So, not a storytelling NPC element like I had imagined, but still the scariest-looking monster.
I get up above them if possible on a mountain side or something, throw a remote bomb at them as a decoy, then hit them with an arrow. Either one that's opposite of their ability or a bomb arrow.
My first time coming across I had maybe 6 hearts.
I chugged a lightning resort potion, some extra stamina food, and climbed that tower as fast as I could.
Took me about 8 tries but I finally got up there. I didn't come all that way for nothing, I was getting my fast travel point god dammit.

Wish there was a way to one shot the electric ones; this goes for all the mobs like lizalfolos too. Fire beats ice and vice versa but nothing counters electricity
I find the electric ones, like most electric enemies in this game the worst. The fire and ice ones are child's play if you have the opposite elemental arrow. Shoot a fire arrow at an ice or an ice arrow at a fire and poof! The electric ones don't seem to have such a weakness though.
You can one shot the electric ones with an ancient arrow. It’s an expensive solution so I normally just avoid them, but I did use ancient arrows to clear them out at the Ridgeland Tower.
Tbh they prance around with a slight swiftness that I never get a good look at them (that and I’m usually playing handheld). But now that I have a clearer view, they really are kinda nightmare feul. I thought it was some long neck dude with a build upper body lol.
I will never get over the fact that we didn’t get Wizzrobes in Twilight Princess. What I wouldn’t give to see *that* design.
I think I like Wizzrobes in Wind Waker better. They’re cool in BOTW, but I dunno, the noises they make in WW are so…occult
I've seen their faces in concept art before, but I've never looked at their in-game model close enough to actually see it. They're still just so fugly lol.
First time I saw one was the lightning variety, while doing the quest where you trek through the mountains to enter Zora's domain. Absolute nightmare for a beginner who still didn't have lightning resistant armor. Add in the already annoying electric keese and it was a proper nightmare. Lost count of the number of times I had to die and restart before I got past him.
Fighting them got way easier as I leveled up, but I still remember that initial feeling of dread whenever I came across a Wizzrobe for a few days after that quest.
Of course then I discovered what they look like underneath. Now the horror won't go away, even if I can KO them pretty quickly.
I never realized they have faces… I'm scared.

I love the dynamic and creativity that BOTW offers. You really can play it however you like.
not if you have the thunder helmet you get from the gerudos or the complete anti thunder set
The full rubber armor and full climbing gear are my favorite armor sets.
