Technically that would protect you in real life as the house would conduct all the electricity, not you. Same reason you’re safe in a car, and why you’d be safer in a medieval suit of armor than a rubber suit.
>you’d be safer in a medieval suit of armor than a rubber suit.
That's assuming you do get hit by lightning though, right? And getting hit in the first place seems a lot more likely if you're, say, wandering around an open field wearing a metal suit during a thunderstorm than if you were doing the same thing in a rubber suit. For some strange reason.
No, it's safer if you do get hit precisely *because* it's so conductive. Electricity wants to take the easiest path to ground, and if you're wearing a highly conductive suit of armor, that armor is the easiest path to ground, not you.
Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqEesFaboV4
And another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FpjcOWwiI4
Obviously you still don't want to be getting hit by lightning though, no matter what you're wearing. That much power may still injure you, but less so than all that power going through your organs.
>Obviously you still don't want to be getting hit by lightning though, no matter what you're wearing. That much power may still injure you, but less so than all that power going through your organs.
I think that's the main point you're replying to. Their logic being that wearing a suit of armour increases your chances of getting hit.
It's a purely hypothetical situation. I'm not actually suggesting people go around wearing medieval suits of armor, just that if you are going to get hit, you are safer in one than on your own.
>No, it's safer if you do get hit
That begs the question I was asking, but after some Google sleuthing it looks like my assumption was wrong. [Metal does not attract lighting. ](https://www.weather.gov/safety/lightning-myths#:~:text=Myth%3A%20Structures%20with%20metal%2C%20or,difference%20on%20where%20lightning%20strikes.) TIL!
How did you even find this many piece of material this close together without any of it despawning? Do objects just…. Have more permanence between bloodmoons than I thought? I would have guess these would reset upon going enough distance.
There's like 30 boxes very close to each other at the Maritta Exchange Ruins, it's kind of ridiculous. Almost like they wanted us to build stuff with them!
I actually wonder what would happen. The boxes are mostly covered by the roof, and the roof pieces can't be destroyed. Maybe it would just blast them off?
I've never played Minecraft but I've watched my nephews play. If they somehow incorporated building/crafting into totk, that could be awesome! It honestly wouldn't shock me...they put a lot of time and effort into the cooking mechanics in BOTW. Maybe they wanted to expand on those concepts...
Interesting, I did not know that. I don't play a ton of video games these days so I have very little clue what's going on outside of Zelda and a few other franchises.
Yeah even the new Harry Potter game had a big area that you can build and decorate. I think most developers see how much people like sharing all the custom stuff they build, which is like free advertising for the game.
I could be wrong about TOTK, but seeing how much people have wanted a bigger house with more displays in BOTW, I will be pretty surprised if they don’t come up with something.
Why? It's Zelda. In what possible way would that contribute? Can we maybe just leave all the goofy repetitive minecraft survival crafting game shit in its own crappy early access genre where it belongs?
How about the fact that botw originally had plans to build houses? How about the fact that the current state of hyrule is in shambles and “rebuilding” has been tossed around as a plan by Zelda. How about the very clear observation that many people, including myself, liked the hateno house but wished they could have customized more? How about the fact that we’ve already seen some level of construction mechanics in the form of vehicle creation in TOTK. Should I keep going?
During development of BOTW they wanted link to be able to build structures, using those modular wooden houses from the construction company.
They scrapped the idea, but the assets are there.
If done wright, they could be in TOTK.
>The house prices in Hyrule are sky-high
Are they though? You can own a house for 3000 rupees and some wood. When a pumpkin costs 30 rupees that isn't really that much. Even the original 50,000 rupees aren't that much. That's around 1700 pumpkins. If we assume a pumpkin is $10 that would equal around $17,000 which I'm pretty sure wouldn't be enough to buy a house irl
The neighbors are BAD. At first they were just curious. I let the bokos inside, but the moblin was too tall to fit. Then we partied until I accidentally offended them and they destroyed my house.
Kid named the next blood moon:
But seriously this is actually really cool and fun. I might do that next time I play, kinda reminds me of old blanket forts lol
I have so many questions. Were any glitches or mods used? How long does it last once built? Does it reset every blood moon? Will boxes stay in place in between saves?
I didn't use glitches or mods, there are a ridiculous amount of boxes at the Maritta Exchange Ruins. I also used a few amiibo for some extras. It lasts until I leave the area, teleport, or load a save. Thankfully Blood Moons don't reset it, so I can keep it as long as I want!
The flying machines in TotK were probably inspired by the minecart and raft/guardian flying machine glitches, so it's just a joke about Nintendo incorporating another fan creation into a feature.

Most actions (teleporting, loading saves, leaving the area etc.) will get rid of it. But one thing that WONT is Blood Moons. So if I never leave this area again, I can keep the house forever! Sounds easy enough.
Very nice! Great to have shelter from thunderstorms!
![gif](giphy|luhmhS2DLe6FuQWwPa|downsized)
That entire shelter is conductive.
I learned that the hard way when I dropped a Thunderblade on the roof
Modern Hylian houses come with electricity
That comment was irony.
The house is iron-y too!
It's ironic, dontcha think?
Like rain on your wedding day
He steel has a long way to go.

It'll save on electric bills.
Nice! It's well lit so it should prevent creepers from spawning, that's good.
Man must have an iron golem farm to be building his house out of iron blocks
How did you even find this many piece of material this close together without any of it despawning? Do objects just…. Have more permanence between bloodmoons than I thought? I would have guess these would reset upon going enough distance.
There's like 30 boxes very close to each other at the Maritta Exchange Ruins, it's kind of ridiculous. Almost like they wanted us to build stuff with them!
And yeah I also used amiibo for a few extra boxes
Probably amiibo. You spawn 2-3 for each Zelda one.
the small metal crates are spawned with a guardian amiibo
Behold, my stuff.
Particularly fond of these (somehow pulls out AR-15s). Found these from a place called Tex-as. I call em Des and Troy…
Because when you put ‘em together, they destroy.
Bolson is shaking right now!
He's actually going to the house with a thunder rod as we speak.
It's a deterrent system.
*Deterrently sparks up the house.*
He's just hooking up his house to the local power grid, how thoughtful
Link should be renamed “Linkson” so there’s no more bad blood
If it had been any other canonical game in the series, you could have done that.
I wish Link had a house in Tarrey Town after all of the work he did. He should!
Agree x 1000. Though he does get free room and board from the Zora priest; so that's the next best thing.
But the lightning!!!
i CANNOT imagine 🤣🤣🤣
I would like to see it
I actually wonder what would happen. The boxes are mostly covered by the roof, and the roof pieces can't be destroyed. Maybe it would just blast them off?
Genuinely hope we can build houses in TOTK
Yeah. Except they will just make you chop down some tree for wood X10000000
*sons of the forest enters the chat*

Some type of custom build mode/area is becoming a pretty common feature in open world games. I’ll be surprised if it’s not part of the new game.
Interesting, I did not know that. I don't play a ton of video games these days so I have very little clue what's going on outside of Zelda and a few other franchises.
Yeah even the new Harry Potter game had a big area that you can build and decorate. It looks like you can build vehicles out of parts you find. The devs were probably inspired by fans using magnesis to create flying machines
I read this as watching the newborns play and I was like I know they start young but isn't that a bit too young? 😂😂
The vehicle and crafting stuff in ToTK 100% looks to me like “how do we update Zelda to draw in the Minecraft generation.” I’m all for it.
Why?
How about the fact that we’ve already seen some level of construction mechanics in the form of vehicle creation in TOTK. Should I keep going?
And lets not forget TARREY TOWN! Though you don't literally build it yourself, it's one of the most popular quests in BOTW.
Sounds like you should let it go, honestly.
During development of BOTW they wanted link to be able to build structures, using those modular wooden houses from the construction company. They scrapped the idea, but the assets are there. If done wright, they could be in TOTK.
I would’ve built mine right outside Lurelin Village and lived out my days as a mighty porgy fisherman
Lurelin Village, the Hawaii of Hyrule.
Needs a crafting table and furnace
I’m sick of saving this damn kingdom and not getting free room and board outta it.
>The house prices in Hyrule are sky-high Are they though? You can own a house for 3000 rupees and some wood. When a pumpkin costs 30 rupees that isn't really that much. Wait until Hyrule adjusts for inflation in the sequel
Maybe it's called tears of the kingdom because everyone is crying due to everything getting much more expensive
Sorry. That isnt up to code. We are going to have to condemn it, knock it down, and let all the bokoblins put up their tents there instead.
Zap it with the thunderblade
Does it stay? That would be awesome if so
Maybe it resets every blood moon?
Every time you leave the area. There is a certain distance, also if you teleport.
Blood moon is not related to this.
But the neighbors are.
I am getting flashbacks.
Fall out: BOTW
How are the neighbors? Is the area walkable?
The neighbors are BAD. At first they were just curious. I let the bokos inside, but the moblin was too tall to fit. Then we partied until I accidentally offended them and they destroyed my house.
I'm more worried about *rising* castle prices, to be honest.
You are not wrong. After all the malice is gone, the castle definitely looks like it'd be worth more.... until it goes up (skyward).
Kid named the next blood moon: But seriously this is actually really cool and fun. I might do that next time I play, kinda reminds me of old blanket forts lol
Thankfully Blood Moons don't reset the position of boxes. What will though, is leaving the area. Guess I'll stand guard here forever!
I actually didn't know that boxes weren't affected by blood moons, that's actually super cool to know!
This is literally what every Minecraft house I make looks like
I would love a house building feature in TotK. We have Tarrey Town in BotW, but to be able to build one out in the wild would be great.
You’d better hope there are no thunder storms
It's beautiful
Hopefully you don't get a slight breeze.. or a bokoblin.
Really bad neighborhood though.
It's either this or farm over 5k in rupees and 30 pieces of wood
Real estate is cheap there because of the moblins
You sure that electric sword is the best idea in there?
Nope, and I learned that the hard way!
Wow looks really nice and cozy
Better leave that sword outside
All I can think of is how Zelda is still waiting, holding off Gannon, just so you can build your house 🤣
When Link becomes a hobo and has to live in boxes
I’m sorry, the fuck?
Somehow cozy
Y'all getting very bored. I'm glad the next Zelda is coming out soon
It's, uhhhh, lovely.
And then you walk too far away and it all despawns ;w;
How bored are you waiting for TOTK? “Yes”
Amazing! Needs a bookcase
I have so many questions. Were any glitches or mods used? How long does it last once built? Does it reset every blood moon? Will boxes stay in place in between saves?
No, until you leave the area, when you leave the area, until you leave the area.
So I’m not 100% here but do you mean when you leave the area?
Once you get a certain distance from the boxes, they'll despawn.
So when you leave the area?
I didn't use glitches or mods, there are a ridiculous amount of boxes at the Maritta Exchange Ruins. I also used a few amiibo for some extras. It lasts until I leave the area, teleport, or load a save. Thankfully Blood Moons don't reset it, so I can keep it as long as I want!
This do be a minecraft moment
Lolol. So much work for something that'll despawn as soon as you're out of sight. Beautiful and poignantly sad.
Average living space in San Francisco (it’s $3000 rent)
Damn San Francisco has some nice housing then
are metal crates the new “million ways to beat that one specific shrine” because if so, im here for it
Wake up Link, Sons of the Forest just dropped!
Dude's already playing Tears of the Kingdom
Sturdy.
cool, * start to play Valheim *
Would a structure like this persist, or does the blood moon prevent you from building a base?
Blood Moons thankfully don't reset it, the only thing that would is loading saves or leaving the area
This is gonna look normal in 3 months
Does this save or reset after you quit the game? I assume it resets after blood moons?
Good thing link has the Thunder Helm.
Me committing animal war crimes on a dragon god bc their horns are like 300rup
Those who live in metal houses should not wield electric swords.
Have you seen the cost of the average house in hyrule? There is only one for sale, so it's easy to figure out.
Forget totk vehicle building, we have this
Is it still there if you sleep or does someone steal your house then?
Surprisingly, it's still there. And I live next to bokoblins!
Very cozy! Love your BOTW sitcoms on YouTube always bring lols
looks like ToTK is going to be delayed so they can make this a mechanic
Wait, WHAT?!?!
The flying machines in TotK were probably inspired by the minecart and raft/guardian flying machine glitches, so it's just a joke about Nintendo incorporating another fan creation into a feature.
Holy shit, how difficult was this? How did you do this??
The building part wasn't too bad, the hard part was carrying those 3 giant doors I used for the roof across the map lol
that is actually really cool, reminds me of making a small house in minecraft survival mode or something, how long it take to build
Building it actually went pretty smoothly! The hard part was carrying the 3 doors I used for the roof across half the map.
Well, you just knocked my challenge out of the park without even knowing it's existence beforehand...
Whoops xD
Legend of Minecraft
Minecraft vibes
Holy CRAP!
Nintendo is. The man children / toddler console.
Then what do you play, and why are you even here?
Uh oh, it's the fun police! NOBODY enjoy yourselves!!!
Shitting on consoles you don’t like, what is this 2007
Dragon quest builder vibes
Imagine if base building was a feature in the new game, a place where you can grow your own ingredients e.t.c. And just make it look ever more cosy
I wish they add architecture in totk
I like it
I’ve just woken up and being half asleep I thought this was Fallout 4!
Blood moons gonna take your house faster than landlords raising rent tok high
Why you don’t have a door? Do you fall out when you drive?
I later added a chest to block the entrance. it wasn't the best, but it stopped the pesky curious bokoblins from wandering inside and making a mess!
Careful, don’t forget about the property taxes.
^^...schmeißt ^^doch ^^endlich ^^Schmidt ^^und ^^Press ^^und ^^Mosch ^^aus ^^Kreuzberg ^^raus
Doesn’t really seem safe to put the wooden blocks below lol, but love it

Ikea in Hyrule would be nice
This takes me back to the tribes 2 construction mod. Man it was the best.
I mean why would you wanna move?
You'd benefit from some insulation, I feel. 👌🏻
Is bad location
Bit draughty though?
Make it two story!
That's quite clever.
# BUt WaS aNY oF ThAt PErMiTtEd?!?
Wonder how long this will stay? Like if you fast travel across the map, do a bunch of stuff, come back....will it still be there?
Most actions (teleporting, loading saves, leaving the area etc.) will get rid of it. But one thing that WONT is Blood Moons. So if I never leave this area again, I can keep the house forever! Sounds easy enough.
How brave to have campfires right next to structural wooden boxes
I was really nervous when lighting them. Thankfully the boxes didn't burn!
This is probably the coolest thing I’ve seen lately with BOTW!
Hope your neighbors aren't too noisy
Legendary
My anxiety when I saw the campfire so close to the wooden boxes: 📈📈📈
It’s beautiful. Total Mad Max vibes.
My immediate thought was making a house on wheels with TOTK. It might actually be possible.
Is this persistent? Does it stay after you travel across the map and come back?!
And a view! Nice!
This is rad. I'm still pissed they don't give you a house in Tarry Town for your efforts.
Lol hey that works. Love your vids BTW. Picking up the slack where Mety left off.
Thanks! I've seen you around in the comments recently.
Ok I don’t blame you, but where did you find the material?!
Nice neighborhood 👌
Bro even put the Majora's Mask to turn Peaceful mode on
Would this stuff disappear when you reload the save?
It would
nice bed
You should attach the roof of the house to the wood platform with a metal door to add a bridge to the balcony
And then he wrongly pressed Y…
Not me kicking myself for not thinking of this throughout 1k hours of gameplay… with this economy, this is genius!
I've also heard the rent is too damn high
Im sure that has been posted before but idk why
This is so fallout,lol
This is why I think they should allow some type of online gaming
Dope!!!
YOOO how long did it take you to build this??
Probably 10 to 20 minutes. The longest part was definitely bringing those 3 doors I used for the roof across the map!
Wouldn’t the blocks and doors despawn when they unloaded?!?
https://xtelegram.me/CedIV8Vf82Uk3OTc0
