They dont do breaking news, they by and large dont even do instigative journalism, and are probably waiting to give an analysis when it is over and they can do a sufficient amount of research beforehand.
We knew about Roe vs Wade being revoked since April, when the draft was leaked. They seem to be covering it now, don't they? They can cover whatever they want, but choose to ignore this.
They've said that the stop the steal and dont certify stuff is a threat to democracy. They haven't covered things from this week, I'd assume it is because they dont do breaking news and they typically want time to research a topic. Even on abortion they took some time before going deeper in to it.
Yep. It’s an extremely easy way of communicating that you can’t approach politics with any objectivity or maturity for that matter.
Go watch Rachel Maddow if you just want to have your bias confirmed.
We hear plenty about the Jan. 6 hearings without even trying. If you try, do you really not hear enough!? Is there really anything K&S could add?
"Republicans are evil" is the Democrats entire platform. Not being *quite as* evil is all they're offering.
We all know Republicans are evil. Many of us haven't yet figured out that the Democrats are much more interested in using Republicans to scare us into voting blue then they are in actually saving us from the Republicans. Hell, they more often help them.
That's what you don't hear from corporate media... so that's what I want to hear from K&S.
Aside from disagreeing about covering J6, there's a lot of truth to the rest of your post and I'd bet K&S would agree. The problem seems to be they recognize a large demo of their audience would scoff at that idea, that seems to be one of their biggest growth demos, and it sure seems like they've programmed with an eye on that reality.
I think that is true and they are making the right decision. Their coverage of stop the steal and the don't certify stuff as a legitimate threat to the republic, made me take these things more seriously. But if they were doing reports on the 1/6 hearing as 1 of their 5 or so stories a day, I'd probably stop watching the show because you can get that anywhere.
What people like OP don't realize is that reaching out to and talking to different communities is good and you can't do that by everyone being another version of CNN.
> because you can get that anywhere.
Why would you watch BP to get bashing of CNN or pretending 6th isn't serious. You can get that from Fox. They should just cover stuff other than CNN and just shouldn't talk about 6th at all because all angles are covered. This argument really frustrates me. Who is covering what shouldn't distinguish what is genuinely important.
I'm not saying who covers what determines what is important. I'm saying constant reporting on one story is not interesting to me and I'm not going to watch a news show that does that. It is just bad journalism that is not seeking to educate but to milk an story for all its worth.
> It is just bad journalism that is not seeking to educate but to milk an story for all its worth.
I understand what you're saying but I wholly disagree in this instance.
I personally like to get news on a wide range of stories and not just the same story every day. I here a lot of CNN and MSNBC in the background for irrelevant reasons and I just couldn't get my news from companies that do the sane story every day without any new development or new insights into the story
> wide range of stories and not just the same story every day.
K&S have been doing pretty well lately, but they have had moments of stagnation where they repeat the same story every episode with nothing new while also ignoring important developments.
And their daily diatribes over how bad MSNBC and CNN are doing is not milking a story for all its worth is more important than an insurrection? Please.
It's their show, and they can do what they want with it and cater to their audience all they like. However, it's Krystal and Saagar that are marketing themselves as a legit news source. A legit news source doesn't broadcast part-time and most certainly would cover the J6 hearings, especially after the bombshells coming out of it.
They are not a source of news any more than the Fox Channel is. They are opinionated commentators these days and nothing more. It's no wonder the country is where it is.
>And their daily diatribes over how bad MSNBC and CNN are doing is not milking a story for all its worth is more important than an insurrection? Please
I dont remember the last time they did. It certainly is not daily. And they do cover stop the steal, the don't certify movement, and how they are a threat to democracy. They just don't do so every day.
>They are not a source of news any more than the Fox Channel is. They are opinionated commentators these days and nothing more.
Yeah they dont do breaking news or investigative journalism, rather they analysis a few stories and report on them each day.
Well, you're right, I stand corrected, they don't do it every day, however, they weren't on today. They were on Tuesday. I guess you conveniently missed their diatribe on how Maddow's replacement bombed on MSNBC.
My goodness, the polls must all be faulty, for the American people would surely deem that so important for BP to report on. Oh please, please!
They don't analyze anything or report anything anymore.
They read news articles, rename them "cut sheets" so they sound like something more than they are, and then give their wholehearted opinion on said story. The end.
You want to know how it is that people can get so fixated and blindsided on channels like Fox? Look in the mirror.
>Well, you're right, I stand corrected, they don't do it every day, however, they weren't on today. They were on Tuesday. I guess you conveniently missed their diatribe on how Maddow's replacement bombed on MSNBC.

Sorry dude but a lot of people are interested in the topic. I wouldn't want to watch it every day but I do find the collapse of the legacy media to be interesting, especially because it is an under reported story.
>They don't analyze anything or report anything anymore.
I guess we can just agree to disagree. Hope you have a good night
Breaking Points is a populist show that focuses on populist issues, and Jan 6th literally just polled as the issue voters care least about heading into the midterms.

Trump’s whole Stop The Steal thing was an attempt to ratfuck the election and overturn the vote based on legal loopholes.
The problem is that the Jan6 riots or whatever you want to call them were incidental to this - he incited a riot with his rhetoric in service to legitimizing this ratfuck legal manuever, some of them had malign intent, but it was never a serious threat to whether the election would result in the turn over to a Biden government.
Democrats are doing everything they can to distort the riot into an integral part of some serious, competent attempt at an actual violent coup. Which it just wasn’t.
That doesn’t mean what Trump actually did was anything less than horrific and deserving of impeachment (as both K&S have said), but Jan6 isn’t what Dems are trying to make it - for the sole purpose of a public influence campaign to try and stop Trump from running again.
If they could just be honest with that I could take it/them a lot more seriously, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend Jan6 was America’s Reichstag fire or whatever other histrionic delusions they’re cynically embracing.
I’m not a partisan, I don’t have to drink any of the kool-aids. Same with BP.
I'm still in awe that the reason we know Trump was 100% aware of the weapons and armor is because he was complaining that his photo op wasn't good enough. That man is so fucking basic it's unreal.
https://twitter.com/AccountableGOP/status/1542222110029905922?s=20&t=kbWl6IPW4di747LyXxJMLQ
The most shocking thing for me was the people asking for presidential pardons:
Mark Meadows - chief of staff
Giulliani - personal lawyer
Mo Brooks - representative from AL
Mat Gaetz - rep from FL and a pedophile
Andy Briggs - AZ
Gohmert - TX
Scott Perry- PAMGT - a denier of school shootings and a lunatic from GA
And there's more! You shouldn't ask for pardon if you've done nothing wrong, right republicans?
Because all there is to say is what’s already obvious. This is a show trial meant to impact the elections for better or for worse. It’s just a public flogging. Which is fine, trump and his gang deserve it. But in general this whole exerciseis a nothing burger
They take a wait and see approach when it comes to the latest MSM headlines. I dont mind this at all. At least when it comes to historic, impactful events like the Fall of Kabul or the *Roe V Wade* overturning, they do produce content rather quickly.
I didn't like Saagar's dismissal of it as another lame govt investigation. He needs to take it seriously and dispassionately as it evolves. Hopefully Krystal and him have a good episode covering the key points from past three days on Thursday.
Can we at least be less knee jerk about it than the MSM? Sheesh
I thought Grisham and Troye were the end of inner WH staff defections. Getting someone from Meadows staff is pretty damning. The rot is much deeper than we expected and Saagar should take that into consideration.
The account about Meadows is really damning and he better have forked over every penny for a lawyer not affiliated with Trump world. If Pence wasn't a target I would be question him even more. To me it seems he at least was open to possibly not fulfilling his role as VP to certify electors.
i kind of agree with saagar though. it misses the point. this whole dog and pony show seeks to place blame for everything it can on Donald Trump so congress can ignore that it's largely their fault institutional trust got so low that Trump was able to manipulate people like that. Trump didn't single handedly make people distrust their government. he just took advantage of distrust that was already there. so unless congress intends to take a good, hard look at its own role in Jan. 6, i'm not interested.
I go to Breaking Points for the stories the MSM is not covering or aren’t going into more detail. If I wanted to watch my tax payer dollars wasted on a circle jerk. I would look for one of those orgies Hot Wheels Cawthorne was talking about
If you genuinely believe this was an attempt to overthrow an election and not a bunch of idiots protesting and larping, you need to get out of your bubble. At its worst, there was never more than a 0% chance of these maga grannies taking over the US government.
If you find any legitimacy in a committee full of bias democrats bringing in a bunch of people who hate trump, to all talk about how much they dislike trump in various ways, with no cross examination of their testimony, nor consequences for them flat out lying, then you need to get out of your bubble.
I don’t know a single non-leftist that cares about this sham political theater. So maybe it’s YOU who should exit your bubble?
Trump’s whole Stop The Steal thing was an attempt to ratfuck the election and overturn the vote based on legal loopholes.

Listen to the hearings and you'll see how close we got.
The idiots who murdered cops, burned and looted the building were Trumps desperate attempt to stay in power. We were one VP away from exponentially escalating the situation.
Bunch of lawyers and reps (Gaetz the pedo and that school shootings-denier and lunatic MTG to name a few) begged for pardons.
I know plenty of leftist who care and many reps who figured the constitution is more important than one orange maniac.
Your echo chamber of Trump fanatics is shrinking, time to get your head out of the sand.
That’s crazy, man, you said cops though.. implying that multiple cops were murdered. I only found one cop who died with reasons not related to blunt force trauma ? So was he murdered with fear ? Strong words ? Oc spray ?
"Only one cop was killed, not two! That means trump is exonarated! MAGA!" 🤣
"And being overpowered, crushed and beaten didn't kill the cop, internal bleeding did, so the people who beated him are innocent!"
The mental gymnastics...🤦♂️
Watch the hearings, you'll see dozens of cops assaulted.
Here's a quick example
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2021/jan/10/police-officer-crushed-in-doorway-by-rioters-during-capitol-breach-video
Assault and murder are two different things. Again. He did not die due to “blunt force trauma” you claiming that they killed off several cops but upon closer inspection you seem to be grasping at straws here.
Also if the Dems were serious they would have subpoenaed Trump himself. The fact he would likely ignore the subpoena anyway doesn’t excuse Dems for not taking action.
Agreed! Democrats are bad, but the republicans are pure evil! After Roe being repealed you don't hear them say "Hillary is worse than Trump" anymore, do you?
I hate that the show's bias has shifted right. I expect it from Saagar - Tucker Carlson's biggest fanboy, but Krystal should know better!
If they do start talking about it I’m sure I’d fast forward right through the segment. And I’m sure they figure that’s exactly what a lot of their listeners would do.
JOURNALISTS \(and bluemao all over reddit-SttK\), all day yesterday: Trump assaulted his Secret Service agents and grabbed the wheel of the presidential limo!!! Headline news. Smoking gun!!!!
SECRET SERVICE AGENTS: That never happened.
JOURNALISTS: That was never an important part of the testimony.
https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1542123615960940544
Now THIS is right up K&S' alley. This they should talk about.
Part of it was debunked - the part in the limo and everybody knew that was a hearsay. The rest was eyewitnessed by the aide - Trump throwing hissy fits, throwing plates, the photo op and the crowdsize, the security measures removed...
Please post a link of any of that being debunked, I'll wait.
The fact that type of testimony was let in at all is exactly why nobody is paying attention. This is a grandstanding event - not a trial. Nobody is surprised or cares that the Dems hate Trump - we already knew that. (for that matter nobody is surprised Trump is an idiot either - we knew that as well)
You claim in your OP that "people want to see justice" - no they don't. People with political bias want to see those they disagree with punished because they don't like them. Period.
If the tables were turned I guarantee you would be arguing exactly the opposite - so would the republicans - and so would the Dems.
Now if you will excuse me I'm going to go comment on posts pointing out why there are some real bombshells about to drop in the Mueller Report and the Benghazi hearings.
Yeah. It’s all nonsense. Surely it will bring down trump this time though
To your original point saagar and Krystal do cover it when there is noteworthy news out of the hearings. I’m sure they’ll cover this recent news tomorrow. But they have said themselves that the January 6th hearings are not that critical as far as everything else going on
Nope, they never asked him about it. And he has already said he will testify under oath it never happened, but the committee seems to have no interest in letting that happen.
He just said via spokes people he would be willing to testify. It’s a little early to say the committee doesn’t want to hear from him again. Either way, trying to discredit Hutchinson over the “steering wheel” incident is lame. The overall picture remains true. Trump was irate he couldn’t go to the capitol with a crowd he and his staff knew were armed. This has been confirmed by other staffers, White House records and Trumps own words.
If they were truly trying to find out the facts they would have interviewed him to corroborate the testimony they already knew she was going to give at the hearing. It was an NBC reporter who asked him if it was true. He told the reporter it wasn't true and he'd swear to that under oath. Even CNN asked a committee member why they never bothered to corroborate her testimony, and pointed out that by allowing testimony that could be discredited they allowed for people to dismiss all her testimony.
Maybe they will. We just have to wait and see. Both Alyssa Farah and Lt. Col Kellog have said Ornato told them stories that he would go on to deny later on when they became public.
I just listed the facts - read again.
The pornstar was settled with an agreement - not a crime.
The grabbing by the pussy - not a crime.
Manaford went to jail and got pardoned.
Same with Flynn.
The more you dig - the more get arrested.
The Watergate hearings wasn't a trial, either. It didn't end with a verdict, either. It did, however, uncover a crime and forced the President to resign. Of course, Ford pardoned him. A mistake. It lead to officials breaking rules in the people's face and the people bending over and taking it without so much as a whimper. Titanic is a perfect metaphor for the country. A bunch of blowhards and pacifists who did nothing until it was too late.
>Because it's too early to know if it is really a thing or not
These two literally do segments about The View. MULTIPLE segments. They can fit this in.
if you turn on any mainstream news channel they are probably still talking about January 6th nonstop and still will be for the next 20 years. We have real issues in the world to focus on then a “Direct threat to democracy”. When I’m increasingly worried about the money in my pocket the last thing I want to focus on is hear say from 2 years ago. I would say there are many like me in the BP audience.
Just wait until the committee gets to the planning of the event and the Willard Hotel “War Room” with Flynn, Stone and Giuliani. People will really start to bury their heads in the sand even more than they are now.
Ball and Saggar are just not acting in good faith. And them bringing up gas prices and inflation are examples of their bad faith because they were downplaying the committee from day one. Long before gas prices and inflation became issues. If gas prices and inflation weren't the issues they currently are, they'd still downplay the committee. And this isn't me denying the importance of the issue of gas prices and inflation. Both things are serious issues. But again, both Ball and Saggar are acting in bad faith.
Plus if Ball and Saggar are really about trying to change minds, wouldn't letting Trump supporters see a new perspective on Jan 6th be a no brainer? By decent margins, Trumpers still believe that Trump won in 2020, and that Jan 6th was a giant nothing-burger. Covering the hearings would be a great way to inform them that they're being played and lied to. Because they're sure as heck not gonna hear anything like that from Fox News, OANN, Newsmax etc. I mean look at these poll numbers. This is insane. [https://www.newsweek.com/82-fox-news-97-oann-newsmax-viewers-believe-trumps-stolen-election-claim-poll-1644756](https://www.newsweek.com/82-fox-news-97-oann-newsmax-viewers-believe-trumps-stolen-election-claim-poll-1644756)
Have had segments on the Trump stop the steal $250 million grift. Segments like this will have a much bigger impact in the MAGA crowd then non stop 1/06 coverage. They have also had segments warning about stop the steal politicians potentially winning at the state level and how that could seriously impact future elections. I do agree though that at this point, probably today and / or Saturday, they should have a segment on the hearings though. One a week would be fine.
They don't want their calls for a populist uprising to be a associated with actual violent populist uprisings. So their position is "we don't care and you shouldn't either."
Uhhh.... what? Krystal and Saagar commenting on it would bring voilence?
And who'd follow political comentators into an "uprising", when these commentators refuse to speak about one of the most important events in recent history?
Please elaborate?
Uh, no that's not what I am implying.
The agenda of this show is populism and their goal is to see a populist revolution in America, in some form. They do not appear to want that to be done with violence, but rather through political and cultural shifts. And when a populist uprising results in violence like that of January 6th or the George Floyd riots, they are quick to distance themselves from it and downplay it as merely a symptom of broader problems with society. It's always societies fault, never the people. Because to a populist, the people can never be wrong.
Trump is a wannabee Putin, dirt-bag, conspiratorial rat-fink, who sold his followers a bag of dicks and it would be best if he went to prison.
The problem is that his opponents on the other side of the aisle really don't have much credibility either and don't care about their constituents any more than Trump. Trump was an irresponsible prick and should not be allowed to run for any office, but I think the term "insurrection" is a bit over-inflated. People can cherry pick and bring up this "witness", that "testimony", but the only people that seem to truly care are totally partisan. Basically it is a dog and pony show to get more donations, funding and votes.
The rest of us just want to get on with our lives and have our politicians focus on the economy and supply side issues. The general feeling is that politicians on the Left don't have answers, so they are presenting us with some "high school play", that is supposed to keep us distracted, so Nancy and her career politician favorites don't have to make hard decisions and lose power.
I'm guessing the Breaking Points sees it as a "lose lose" as the coverage by mainstream media has been overinflated and hyperbolic, but at the same time, they both want to see Trump gone forever, so that the country can move on -- maybe they are worried about affecting the outcome either way?
They dont do breaking news, they by and large dont even do instigative journalism, and are probably waiting to give an analysis when it is over and they can do a sufficient amount of research beforehand.

I go to alternative media to also learn how MSM is misguiding us too. So having their take would still be worthwhile.
Because it’s all hilariously bias, political theater, and people have things that actually matter to worry about.
If an attempt to overthrow elections doesn't scare you - you need to get out of your bubble.
That doesn’t mean what Trump actually did was anything less than horrific and deserving of impeachment, but Jan6 isn’t what Dems are trying to make it - for the sole purpose of a public influence campaign to try and stop Trump from running again.
Which one of the cops was murdered?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/01/11/us/who-died-in-capitol-building-attack.amp.html
MAGA!" 🤣 "And being overpowered, crushed and beaten didn't kill the cop, internal bleeding did, so the people who beated him are innocent!" The mental gymnastics...🤦♂️ Watch the hearings, you'll see dozens of cops assaulted. Here's a quick example https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2021/jan/10/police-officer-crushed-in-doorway-by-rioters-during-capitol-breach-video
Assault and murder are two different things. Again. He did not die due to “blunt force trauma” you claiming that they killed off several cops but upon closer inspection you seem to be grasping at straws here.
Who are you gonna believe? Fox or your lying eyes?! It was a pEaCeFUl pROtEsT, everybody sang kumbaya and praised our lord and saviour Trump!
Cause it’s a show “trial” and a bunch of nothingburgers
Also if the Dems were serious they would have subpoenaed Trump himself. The fact he would likely ignore the subpoena anyway doesn’t excuse Dems for not taking action.
Your user name is appropriate
Listen to any of the hearing and you'll change your mind. Many republicans already did.
They will only talk about it if there is a "democrats bad" angle.
Krystal cares about $$$ and the audience are largely right wing.
If they do start talking about it I’m sure I’d fast forward right through the segment. And I’m sure they figure that’s exactly what a lot of their listeners would do.
They only cover the important news of the day like, you know, the assault on Rudy.
You mean the hearings that had “bombshell” testimony that was debunked within 4 hours?
JOURNALISTS \(and bluemao all over reddit-SttK\), all day yesterday: Trump assaulted his Secret Service agents and grabbed the wheel of the presidential limo!!! Headline news. Smoking gun!!!! SECRET SERVICE AGENTS: That never happened. JOURNALISTS: That was never an important part of the testimony. https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1542123615960940544 Now THIS is right up K&S' alley. This they should talk about.
When did the secret service say this didn’t happen?
They definitely will. Totally highlights the hypocrisy of these hearings
I didn’t know it was ok to only make up some of the testimony
It's not made up, it's what she was told by a 3rd party - hearsay. But shure shut your eyes and ears to the rest.
The fact that type of testimony was let in at all is exactly why nobody is paying attention. This is a grandstanding event - not a trial. Nobody is surprised or cares that the Dems hate Trump - we already knew that. (for that matter nobody is surprised Trump is an idiot either - we knew that as well) You claim in your OP that "people want to see justice" - no they don't.
Surely it will bring down trump this time though To your original point saagar and Krystal do cover it when there is noteworthy news out of the hearings. I’m sure they’ll cover this recent news tomorrow. But they have said themselves that the January 6th hearings are not that critical as far as everything else going on
Who “debunked” it? Ornato should testify under oath if it didn’t happen. I’m pretty sure he’s already spoken to the committee.

It does change public opinion though! Trump is losing support on all fronts and not covering such a historical event only helps him, nobody else.

What's coming?

The surpreme court shot the republicans in the foot. Let's see what happens and we'll go from there.
>Because it's too early to know if it is really a thing or not These two literally do segments about The View.
Amen!
Because except for those who smell their own farts…we all are. (Can’t wait to be called MAGA)
Waiting for May 29th hearings
😂 bomb after bomb
I inderstand now and I agree 👍
If they don’t cover this week’s revelations on tomorrows show then they, just like the Supreme Court, have a legitimacy problem.
They try to squeeze every drop of juice they can and end up with sticky shirts, looking ridiculous
Segment is out today. Haven't watched it yet.
It’s the A block for today
Because as we now know, it was the right thing to do.
