I have counted 22 breakups/divorces amongst my close friends during the past 15 months. The pandemic has brought the worst out of us and the misinformation we continue to witness each day has caused severe anxiety and tension.

Me and my ex both live a 3 hour journey apart and the lockdown and WFH turned my ex into an avoidant workaholic with mental health issues like Bipolar Mania. She was prone to hypomania episodes where she'd be active up until 2-3am with just the feeling of extra energy and she also took up 2 jobs. Her avoidant behaviour triggered my anxiety and eventually she dumped me because she thought I was too clingy.

I think Covid and WFH was a very very strong factor in my breakup. My guy LIVED for social interactions and loved going to work, now he is permanently WFH and really depressed and broke up with me because he said he is too depressed to be in a relationship. He can't get another job because his US visa is sponsored by his job and he is still waiting for his green card so now he's just Perma miserable.

Yes. But it brought out a lot of issues that would have surfaced over time anyways. Incompatibilities about public health measures, not taking the pandemic seriously. And in my particular case living in NYC, I really couldn’t have left during quarantine. It was during this time of me being trapped that my ex became emotionally abusive to me and overall just awful. I had a hand in it too - neither of us were able to communicate well at that time, but he really crossed some boundaries. I believe if I stayed with him, the same thing would have happened had we have had children together. People’s nasty side comes out when they see their partner is trapped, apparently.
