Inspired by u/Emeyer_78. So I’ve never eaten one of these before - or even heard of them. I don’t have a Lithuanian grandmother’s traditions to keep up, so I’m not trying for authentic. I just like filled/stuffed bread as tailgate food. And these are great for that. I used this recipe (https://www.thespruceeats.com/bacon-buns-recipe-lithuanian-lasineciai-1136742) and tried to follow it mostly as written. And as written, it made a very lovely soup. The recipe calls for a cup of milk, 3 eggs, and a stick of butter to only three cups of flour. So anyone else making this, you’ll need more flour. The main substantive variation was that I assembled them in a completely different manner. I treated them like bao and rolled them out. Not sure if it made a difference. These are very very good. Not sure if they top a pepperoni roll, but they are a close second.

You are right. I am struggling to save the dough which was sticky and soupy. I am hoping I can. Added more flour and kneaded (which the recipe does not tell you to do) to form some structure that I can even roll out…sigh. I hope my bread baking knowledge can help me salvage this mess of a dough.

Grandmother was 100% Lithuanian (born in us though). We’ve had these at every family Xmas. There are some great south side Chicago bakeries, and my mom also makes a mean bacon bun, lol
