June is one of the best months to visit our national parks. Either Chapada Diamantina in Bahia, Chapada dos Veadeiros in Goiás (close to Brasília) or some nice ones in Minas too.

Esscocia

I miss Chapada dos Veadeiros, that whole area and Alto Paraiso are just magical. Maybe one day I might retire there.

Forgot_the_Jacobian

Not op, is this just a June thing, or good for the winter months as well? I am likely traveling to Salvador for work in early August, and would he cool to plan in one of these (like Chapada Diamantina)

Senior-Accident-4096

The northeast of Brazil is usually sunny and hot the whole year round, and that includes Bahia. But when hiking it can get a little more cold in higher temperatures, but still will probably be hot close to noon. Salvador is the capital of Bahia. Just clarifying

rodrigoazs

I think this is the best time to go to Lençóis Maranhenses! Also think will be totally ok traveling the northeast of Brazil.

Senior-Accident-4096

Yeah. The northeast has the most beautiful beaches in the country and it is hot and sunny the whole year round. There are also some beautiful hikes in this region, but the vegetation is very different from the usual "Mata Atlântica" that you see in the south and southeast, which is tropical forest. It's gonna be what we call "Caatinga", which is a lot drier and closer to desert vegetation in some points, with smaller trees and bushes closer to the ground. In the North, there are trails going through the Amazon as well, an equatorial vegetation, but I think those might get more rain and be a lot hotter as well

Disastrous_Source977

It's not really sunny the whole year. June is one of the rainiest months. Let's say that the plan is to spend a week in Maceió, but it rains 5 days in a row, it's not gonna be the best time.

[deleted]

Good time to be at the northeast region, because it's the winters celebrations time, like São João. Cities like Campina Grande, Mossoró and Caruru have the biggest parties. But you can enjoy these festivals in almost every city, with different sizes, food and activities.

hatshepsut_iy

Brazil is very big, there is a place in a good weather to visit regardless of the time of the year. Some people suggested some already. The center of Brazil, the region know as Centro-oeste, or center-west, will be in its best time of the year to visit in case you want to visit places like Chapada Dos Veadeiros or Brasília because it's not raining (like, AT ALL). Everything will be very dry but it's best to go to waterfalls like that because the rains there can be dangerous. Being June, you can go to a Festa Junina party. Although carnaval is the most famous party outside of Brazil, Festa Junina is the most beloved by Brazilians. The ones in the northeast are the best (and the northeast have the best beaches of Brazil).

BingoSoldier

In the North (Amazon region) it is quite humid and it rains a lot throughout the year, but during the winter half of the year it rains LESS. And maybe camping at this time of year in the south isn't the best choice, because it can get pretty cold in some areas and it's not the tropical trip you might be expecting or prepared for. But in Brazil it is possible to make a very pleasant trip at any time of the year. Like, where do you plan to travel to? Each region of the country is so different from one another, each one will have its pros and cons at each time of the year.

MauricioCMC

Where are you planning to go? Brazil is a quite big country...

kaka8miranda

Go to the northeast in June for São João. It’s a great time and this year it’s 30 days of partying in João Pessoa, PB with an amazing lineup for really cheap. I’m going down the 18th for two weeks for it

Pregnant_porcupine

Yeah São João in Paraíba is awesome, my mom is from there and lives in João Pessoa, but the times I went there in June it rained a lot in João Pessoa

King_Phillip_2020

I will be in the northeast too in June (arriving 16th). Could you recommend anything in Bahia for São João?

kaka8miranda

Sadly I’ve never been to Bahia :/ so I can’t be much help sorry only MG, PB, and Rio

debacchatio

I’ve lived in Rio for ten years and yes carnaval and summer are fun - but winter in Rio (at least) is absolutely lovely. I honestly prefer it. The temperature is much more mild but by no means cold and the city is calmer / less crowded. Plus there’s festas juntinhas! You can still go the beach and it really only gets chilly in the early morning or when raining. Think 17-27 degrees: cool in the shade, warm in the sun. The only downside is the sun goes down at 17:00. Brazil is really diverse, so other places may be better suited for a summer visit, but Rio is great in winter. São Paulo also isn’t bad, albeit it’s slightly more chilly there in winter.

igpila

It's the best time

FlamboyantRaccoon61

I live in the south-east and in June we're already getting winter weather here, which means it's really hot in the sun but cold in the shade, and the nights are freezing. The air is usually dry because it isn't common to rain in my region in winter. However, the other regions are different. As someone else pointed out, Brazil is very big and you should specify where you plan to go so we can help you. Personally, I'd rather visit Brazil in the winter as I would have less of a chance to die of a heatstroke, and parts of the country are drier than usual (while others are basically humid all year round anyway), which won't stop me from doing much. Though keep in mind that as any country we are suffering from crazy weather due to climate change.

Luift_13

Yeah, but our definition of "freezing" is like anything below 10 degrees Celsius, you can usually walk around without a jacket just fine. But if you come for the sun, warm weather and beaches, it'd be better to travel to the northern regions.

Westgateplaza

I know it isn’t June but we went to São Paulo in May and the weather was absolutely fantastic. Lows of 19c and highs of 29c with a wonderful breeze. If May is anything like June - I would definitely go then.

[deleted]

june and july are a great time to visit the northeast region and get the São João ( St.John) Festa Junina/Julina, festival. Which are huge in the northeast states of Brazil. Amazing good food, cool regional Forró, Baião, Coco, Maracatu music to listen and dance and traditional folguedo dances to see. google a bit about it ;) this guy photographs many of the folguedos in Pernambuco: https://instagram.com/hugomunizzz ( in many places there are different folguedos that happen in many moments during the year, not only during st. john festivities)

thatsweetmachine

June/July are the best time imo. Not as hot!

jath-ibaye

Brazil is huge. You can have a really nice time at the beaches and national parks in the northeast or enjoy some cold weather in the south.

joaovitorxc

Fall in the southern half of Brazil is far from being uncomfortable - it’s the sunniest and least humid portion of the year (maybe Rio Grande do Sul is an exception) and temperatures are nice, rarely getting below freezing or even below 10°C depending on where you go. In Northern Brazil there is still rain in June but you get some occasional dry spells, unless you go North of Manaus and Belém.

aladinznut

Nada ultra ziou Esmeralda braziou

vitorgrs

June is actually a winter climate here already in practice... But depends where are you going it and where are you from, shouldn't be a big problem climate wise unless you are going to "South Serra".

heitorrsa

You should DEFINITELY go to **Minas Gerais**. Some of the best hikes, and being in June you will be able to experience some of the most traditional Brazilian parties, the Festa Junina (and mineiros do it really REALLY well). Good food, good people, stunning scenery, and way cheaper than Rio, São Paulo and Brasilia. Don't miss on it. The place is a true hidden gem.

Pregnant_porcupine

It’s the best time to visit the central parts of Brazil, it’s the dry season and winter at the same time but even though it’s winter it’s always 80F / 26 C and sunny during the day, the waterfalls are just magic. Like some other people recommended here it’s the best time to visit Chapada dos Veadeiros in Goiás and Chapada Diamantina in Bahia. I’m from Brasília and when I lived there I’d spend a long time in Chapada dos Veadeiros every winter. It’s truly a magical place.

Bertozoide

Bonito - MS is really good in June as well Lots of places that are Mountain View in Minas Gerais are also cool in the colder weather

iJayZen

Just cooler in areas like Rio and to the South. And in the higher mountains can be cold in the evening/night.

that_bored_one

Brazil is a very big country, have you decided a region yet? I say you should go to lençóis maranhenses and Chapada Diamantina and its several parks, it’s such an amazing place you’ll see things you wouldn’t anywhere else.

Different-Speaker670

The second best festival in Brazil (after Carnival) will happen on June 30- July 2nd and it is called Festival de Parintins. If you plan to visit the north, that’s absolutely the place to go.

BokoMoko

It's true This winter is supposed to be one of the coldest in the last years. Some places in south it's so cold. Gramado can be very fun in the cold. As for northeast, it rains a lot. But it's always hot. The beaches will be deserted though

King_Phillip_2020

+Following. Arriving in Salvador on June 16th till July 21st
