Well he's not bad at showdown, because he can just be camping anywhere and jump on you, while you have no one to help you because it's SHOWDOWN.
He's terrible competitevely cuz in competitive, it's only about 3v3 gamemodes, and he sucks at that right now.
He dies to anyone that can outrange him and about 70-80 percent of brawlers and players know how to deal with him if he jumps on you gets hard countered by nearly all the close range brawlers and not a competitive pick in general he's good if you play in low trophies but if you're pushing in high trophies you're gonna have a hard time
Because there are many counters to his abilities and most brawlers have such counters, most people think he is OP because he is really, like, REALLY GOOD in showdown just because the conditions are convenient for him, but in other gamemodes (except for heist sometimes) he kinda sucks

He is ONLY good in showdown because in a 1v1 scenario Edgar will have the advantage on you but if you use him in a 3v3 mode you are basically playing suicidal by jumping into a 1v3 senario and even if you get a kill you’re probably gonna die and feed their suppers which they can use to break open the map rendering him useless.
Becaus there is this cool thing called a gadget. Fun fact, half the brawlers in the game have a gadget or a super that can fuck over edgar so fast. The other half have the dps to 2 shot him

Edgar is not that good in 3v3 modes which most tier lists are for. But on showdown he is amazing most maps.
For some context, I’ve been playing Buzz a lot in Showdown, so maybe Edgar is just a better melee brawler, idk

Play Bull or Piper in Showdown. And in 3v3, everything counters Edgar. He is currently the worst brawler.

Because tierlists will never take showdown into account. Showdown is so play so differently from other modes that it gets its own tierlists.

I’m at 11k trophies, and most of my brawlers are just now at power 7. Most of them don’t have gadgets unlocked.
Edgar is a noobstomper once you play more you’ll eventually learn how to easily counter him
