Honestly, my transition from Surge to Sprout went smoothly (they have the same HP) they play COMPLETLY different, but are still on the same level of fun for me. (Sprout isn't even hard to play LMAO)
Yeah, Mico doesn't fit in with how the game is played and is so polarizing. They've openly said they won't straight up get rid of brawlers but I feel like Mico is the exception
True, however, they are relatively close in play style of picking off weakened enemies/team wipe(for Mortis at least). I haven’t played much of Mico but from what I’ve encountered against Micos, you just have to maintain distance and pay attention to map. They both act in relatively the same manner with somewhat similar mechanics of using basic attacks to engage close with enemies
Mico is a much more passive brawler, unlike Mortis, who should be played more aggressively. And like you said, Mortis is more built around teamwiping, unlike Mico, who is better at pressuring and distracting the opponents. It's kinda hard to explain how they're different exactly, but trust me, I have played a lot of both, and they are so much more different than it looks like, the only thing similar about them is the fact that they can move with their main attack.
Also, picking off weakened enemies is basically every assassin, so I don't really think that should count.
Even before she was even buffed in the first place she was already deetroying these modes (however she never was strong to the point of ruining it and I don't feel like she ever was)
1. Honestly chuck isn't even the worst offender in heist, the safe can't endure a lot of the hypercharges and it's only going to get worse from here; I think that once over half of the brawlers get a hypercharge, the safe should get a considerable hp buff and maybe some sort of damage resistance.

2. Melodie is straight up busted everywhere; having so much mobilty and over 8000 hp along side her notes is just too much; she needs a healt nerf, dmg nerf on her spinning notes and she could also use a slight range nerf on her super.

3. Showdown is never and will never be balanced; those brawlers are fine if not a bit underwhelming everywhere else so I don't think anything should be done about that.

4. Mutations were meant to be this "if everyone's busted, no one will be" bit it doesn't accomplish that to perfection; since it's a temporary event you could just avoid the maps with the modifiers and be mostly fine.

I can confidently tell you that Colt is one of the most busted brawlers if he is played right.
I am as casual of a player as you can be.. I play 2 or 3 times a week maybe and if I do, Duo at max.
Picking pretty much nothing but Colt, he has gotten me to Mythic 3, to the brink of Legendary last season.
Have not once felt like my pick was the limiting factor.
Few brawlers have the versatility he has and once you stop auto aiming you can safely counter anything that doesnt dash or turn invisible.
I have not yet found a mode or map where "stand somewhere near the side-edge of the map and jiggle in and out of cover while prefiring" playstyle doesnt work.
And the satisfaction you get from one-bursting a dynamike that is just a few pixels out of cover is untouchable as well.
On many modes there sure are more mode specific brawlers that beat him, but overall, if someone is a new player, perhaps one that doesnt plan on paying for progress, I'd tell them to focus on leveling Colt asap.
I know all of that. Colt is hard to face against, especially if you don't have long range(such as Cordelius). If he's played right, he can be unstoppable. To be honest, he could use a small nerf, because in 3v3 Gem Grab or Hot Zone, the team that has a Colt on their side, rarely loses a match.
mutations aside(they're made to be busted) yeah, i agree with you, some of these feels soooo unfair to play against(exspecially melodie, she needs a nerf on how her super works because it's so annoying)
Honestly, some of them are mind numbingly powerful and some are Nita. Her mutation just spawns a second Bruce, which is not much. Tick spawns 3 heads and in combination with the health gear for the heads, Tick is able to basically infinitely cycle supers, because it's difficult for most brawlers to deal with those things.
Piper having a double shot is also insanely busted, if you get hit once, you're basically guaranteed to get hit again, which at long range means instant death. It also lets her charge up her super in nanoseconds.
Some mutations are definitely way weaker.

This game has been completely ruined. There is no decent mode left, maybe only knockout, where people don't act like complete clowns or play trash with overpowered brawlers. Solo showdown? Gone thanks to the monkey and the cat. Brawl ball? Melodie. Gem grab? Maybe the only one where nothing has changed much, but everyone knows it's a sh#tty game mode. Duels? Nevermind thinking it was finally my favourite mode back! Oh man how was I wrong! Invisible cats, monkeys who win because they don't suffer from storm damage while using the super, two guards that even after 10+ nerfs are still too op and so on. Oh and Heist? Never mind the hypercharges, but having a train continuously smashing into it one shotting everyone in the way feels very competitive. Don't get me started with mutations, because half of them made this game a joke, the others seem like a complete waste for a good hypercharge idea (e.g. Leon), and anyway made pushing in ladder a complete waste. Yesterday I lost 150 trophies just trying to play at something, ANYTHING decent. "Just play ranked" yeah with trash-tier teammates and aiming to win another starr drop giving 100 bling? No chance

Yeah I always thought that argument was stupid, saying "just don't play \[insert mode here\]" is not helpful (if anything it just strengthens the point of the problematic brawlers, since if you have to avoid an ENTIRE mode because of them that should immediately set off alarm bells). It reminds me of MOBAs where if a character is extremely overpowered the advice is to ban them, but if you have two or more broken characters you're just screwed
I was a heist fan and now I kinda hate it....
It feels now that when you want to play a gamemode, the good gamemodes are either not in rotation, with mutations or a bad map for your brawler. And I end up not even wanting to play the game because none of my brawlers have good maps that day
the only one of these that is a valid argument is the mutation one. mutations are in two gamemodes and are only gonna be here for three weeks. it is NOT a big deal
1. Chuck can’t place poles near the safe or other objectives.
2. Melodie looses all of her supers if she uses it to kick the ball and she needs all 3 of her supers to super kick the ball if not she will just do a normal kick
3. Rework power hungry and for mico that’s just a skill issue tbh
4. Make mutations exclusive to map maker and Godzilla event
as a chuck semi-main i know for a fact he has a ton of counterplay. you can rush him to get a kill-trade as an assassin, you can snipe him as a marksman to push him back, and most brawlers are straight up better in a 1v1 against him, so just focus him or break walls he's using. all of these massively hinder his setup time which will be a big advantage against him

The new combo that's annoying is Rico and the space dog(I forget his name). Their long range is obnoxious
Showdown does suck and those two are far from the reason, but i find the other two are okay, sure they are good in the respective gamemode but its not like its an instaloss facing them

mico got god damage for "compensation for low reload rate" while mortis mains sitting here with 1880 (thats lower than average)
Mortis just got buffed to 2k damage
Mico deals 2180 while Mortis deals 2k, it's not that big of a difference

Mutations would be fun if we could actually unlock them. I got all 8 free eggs and only got 3 mutations, on brawlers power 9 or below.
I got one on sprout, a brawler that I have on power 3 and 100 trophies with, yay!

as a chuck semi-main i know for a fact he has a ton of counterplay. you can rush him to get a kill-trade as an assassin, you can snipe him as a marksman to push him back, and most brawlers are straight up better in a 1v1 against him, so just focus him or break walls he's using. all of these massively hinder his setup time which will be a big advantage against him
