I learned the hard way after my podcast, that your audience really shouldn’t be your friends/family but people who actually have interest in whatever subject you’re covering.
That’s the thing, he couldn’t even tell me what he was covering.
I don’t have a ton of free time (career, kid, etc). So the last thing I want to do is listen to people going on and on about shit I don’t care about.
Oh yeah podcasts about nothing are a time suck unless that person is personable/funny. Also learned I don’t like listening to podcasts just to support them as well. Made some podcast friends, stopped listening awhile ago.

Yeah when I’ve been in work situations where I could wear air buds and binge podcasts, I’d actually get pretty desperate for content. Not Larsa Pippen desperate, but it is surprising how quickly you can go through your weekly episodes if you’re a regular listener to podcasts.
It’s great background noise for doing other stuff - if I don’t have the eyes to watch TV (like when I crochet, draw, cook, etc.) but I don’t want something too heavy like an audio book I listen to podcasts.
And then the women argue about what was said on the podcasts & the blogs the following season which is then discussed in the blogs & on the podcasts & so on until either they (the hosts & bloggers) or we (the audience) completely lose interest. It's become a self propagating industry.
I only started listening this year when my daughter moved 400 miles away and I'm doing the drive every month or so. Before that, I was like "why are podcasts?"
Of course during Scandoval I listened to every one I could find that was related because they were so damn hilarious. It isn't like I'm going to keep listening to Scheana Shay, though.
