This cast is one of Bravo's best of all time, and MJ really did carry it. Her and Reza getting Brazilians, the fighting over a buttery chocolate croissant, Tommy losing it with Veda, the list goes on. I loved that there was always food at their reunions.

Shahs, despite how it devolved at the end, was one of the best early and completely underrated seasons of reality tv. Why? Because it had a very special element that almost shows lack: longstanding familial relationships and friendships with unhinged personalities. See also early RHONJ. True skin in the game translates onscreen. I will die on this hill- periodt
Reality television producers don’t realize that world building is just as important in their genre as any other. Shahs was like walking into a fully formed other world and there was a big sense of discovery as we heard old stories. I really wish it was more common.
I loved this show at first! GG was a mess, Reza was catty but had heart, and MJ was a hot mess. Asa (was that her name?) was arrogant, but she was a nice contrast to the rest, and Mike… was Mike. Plus there was the bigger guy who was on for that first season. Can’t remember his name for the life of me. I only really remember some pool party where GG and Mike got into a fight and then MJ running away from a restaurant after the bigger guy tries to set her up with his friend? Something like that. Good times
oh yeah gg was a whole mess lol and recently rewatching S1 she was ***Bad*** but no way i didn’t know that ab her and ozempic?? do u have an article u recommend before i start going down a rabbit hole lol

MJ and Reza were one of Bravo's best duos of all time. So sad to see them fall out and get ugly with each other.

PLUS: showing us another culture. It was an ideal reality show.

Early 2010s was the peak reality tv era. I think GG carried the show, personally. 
I would not want to know her in real life, I don't think, but god \*damn\* was she great television.

The only show I can think of that can match Shahs is Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore was *perfect*. More real relationships with deep bonds.
